When your friend tells you something good, but utterly incomprehensible
another one for the medical negligence archives: my mom's coworker, 43 F and healthy, was visiting her mother. while bending down she feels something "crack" in her brain and passes out. wakes up an unknown amount of time later on the floor with a massive headache and has her mother drive her to the hospital. gets sent home with the recommendation to just take painkillers and get some sleep. bedridden for 2 days from the intensity of the headache and steadily getting sicker. mother drives her to a different hospital where they refuse to take her in because she's already the other hospital's patient in this case. drives back to first and gets told the other one at least has a proper neurologist so go back. goes back. they recommend painkillers and sleeping it off at home. mother snaps and makes a scene, we're not leaving here until someone looks at my daughter. refuses to be placated and doesn't stop yelling. ugh, fine. random doctor passing by takes them in and after hearing the symptoms carefully asks if a CT has been done. they do a CT. he immediately calls a helicopter flight to a specialised clinic where she gets emergency surgery to treat the ruptured aneurysm that had been hemorrhaging into her brain for 3 days. she was quite literally hours from death and had only survived the first hospital sending her home because the rupture happened to be small. anyway, the surgery went well but they couldn't say about permanent damage yet. and don't think for a second anyone in those hospitals will draw consequences or offer an apology. doctors actually love getting offended when people come in asking for care, it is their favourite activity, so you have to at all times be either healthy enough to harass them into doing it yourself or be accompanied by an ill tempered loved one who can do it for you. make friends with a rude bitch if none are available in your family, my final message
