Hyuk doesn’t know why he thinks Corrine would recognise him. They had met a few times in China, but she had moved along quickly, travelling to another far away country after only a short period of time. Still, it had taken Hyuk a lot of courage to approach the female and he’s finding it hard not to shrink back into himself as she asks who he is.
“Sorry…” He mumbles, his gaze dropping to the ground as he bows his head. “My name is Hyuk, we met in China a few years ago.”
Corinne didn’t want to seem rude but she also didn’t want to go with the current and pretend she remembered him from the get-go to spare the awkward vibe. Either way, she felt bad that she couldn’t dig deep enough in her brain to be able to put the pieces together. With an apologetic smile, she began to shake her head slowly, as if silently apologizing for not being able to remember. It only took a second after before everything rushed back to her.
“Oh! Wait, no, yeah I remember you. Of course I remember you. I don’t know why I couldn’t recognize you in the beginning.” Her smile bright, she was relieved that her memory didn’t seem to be as terrible as she thought. “Ah, wow. What-- how are you? How have you been? It’s so nice seeing you again. It’s been...a century, hasn’t it?”

“So, tell me, has anyone ever died from screaming in the air as they fell? Like- can you run out of breath up there by the amount of shrieks you let out? Shriek to death? Also, have men ever shrieked?” Gray had his hands on his hips, lips pressed into a thin line and his eyes practically peering into the woman’s soul. This was his way of hiding the fear within. He didn’t want to show her he was scared, of course. Gotta keep that tough guy image intact. “Oh and if you were wondering, I’m just asking for research purposes.”
It was amusing that he seemed to be trying to make it look like he wasn’t scared. She’s worked at this job for a couple of years now and she knows the look of fear when she sees it. “Now that you mention it, I think last week we had an incident where a man screamed himself to death mid-air. Happens a lot actually.” Maybe she shouldn’t be joking around about this unless she wanted to lose a customer but she only trying to somehow make him feel calmer about the jump by joking about his clear distress. It made sense in her head. “I’m joking. No one has ever died. We get a lot of screamers, but no deaths yet. We take safety procedures very seriously to ensure nothing bad happens. So remember that...for your research.” Corinne smiled.

night excursion — - j&c
☢ — - The area was fenced off with one or two flimsy warnings of no trespassing and at the moment it plainly looked like a dark and dreary open space for trouble. Jerking his head towards the direction of how to get in, Jaebum guided her to counters that were carelessly left alone so all they had to do was hop over one of the gates. Moving to the ledge of the box counter, he jumped on the ledge to hop on the other side then courteously offered his hand to help her with a small smirk. “Or does the hardcore Corinne require no help?” After they managed to get in, Jaebum already started feeling a sense of accomplishment. “I had no idea that you had a dream like that. It’s funny that this is one of the few hideout spots I know.”
Jaebum had arrived a few times here before with his best friend and the last time they had, it ended up disastrous but there was no way he was going to mention that. Instead he discreetly checked his tracker to continuously make sure nobody was in the perimeter before walking towards the fuse box engulfed with tree leaves. Pretending to be disappointed, he pulled a thoughtful pose then abruptly flipped a few switches which started the hum of electricity. “I remember last coming here four months ago. This place had only been shut down five years ago but the ferris wheel was still working just as new.” It was ironic that the girl his best friend had fallen in love with was captured and held captive in the same ferris wheel with twelve bombs that they had frantically defused two seconds before it was timed to set off. Perhaps it was incredibly sadistic of him to come back here but he did notice the glittering grand views in between frenzied wire cutting but took no note of it. Now he just wanted to relax with the one person he could actually open up to. After climbing up the steps of the way to the ferris wheel, he tested the switches as well which were still working. It made him sigh a little as he remembered the reasons why he was last here with his best friend and why everything was in tiptop shape.
The ferris wheel itself light up into vibrant shades of emerald and cobalt with its curve started to turn gently anti-clockwise, almost sending Jaebum into a spiral of nausea but he weakly smiled to her and motioned towards the moving cabs. “Pick your choice of whichever one you want to get in. It is pretty high up though. You’re fine with heights, right?” Despite the change in atmosphere now being ethereal, he almost made a height joke but didn’t wish to ruin the mood. It made him pale slightly to see the exact same cab where Lisa was held captive but he wrenched his eyes back to Corinne. “I’m fine. I’m fine with heights, really.” Although they spent not that much time together, he already sensed her about to question whether he was up for it or not. “Let’s go enjoy the view.”
Making sure to stay close behind, Corinne’s eyes wandered throughout the area. Despite it’s dingy appearance, she was ecstatic to be here. She had never really done something like this before. Her part-time job is one that includes a great amount of exhilaration but she had already gotten used to it. This was something new and exciting. Watching the way Jaebum was able to jump the gate with ease did make her feel nervous to try it herself, but she was determined. “You know me too well.” A line she’s repeated to him a few times since they’ve gotten a little closer. With some struggles and a lot of grunting, Corinne managed to hop on the other side by following in his footsteps. “It is a coincidence. I used to tell my ex that I wanted him to rent out an entire amusement park or carnival all the time. Always thought it was a joke and it did start out as one, but eventually I really wanted it.”
“Wow...five years and this was still working not too long ago? There’s something appealing about abandoned parks like these. Even if none of the rides work-- which is most abandoned parks. It’s kind of cool.” Lips extending into an even greater smile, Cori gazed up at the ferris wheel in amazement. “And kind of sad.” She added as they were now closer to the ride. “A lot of these places are deserted and rotting away when they probably used to make so many people happy. If I had all the money in the world, one of the things I’d do is repair them all. There can never be too many amusement parks or carnivals or whatever this place used to be. Since it has a ferris wheel, in my mind it means it was an amusement park.” Noticing she was rambling, Corinne cleared her throat quietly before remaining quiet for a little while. She’s not really one to keep a lot of her thoughts bottled up and once she gets going, it’s hard to stop sometimes.
Eyes lighting up almost as much as the ferris wheel itself lit up, Corinne didn’t feel a worry in the world. It had been too long since she had ever been on one. There was one cart in front of the cart that was stopped at the very top that caught her attention since the beginning. To her it appeared to be the cleanest one that looked in it’s best shape. “I’m completely terrified of heights. I’m not sure why I chose to be a skydiving instructor.” She replied sarcastically with a low chuckle. There was a little concern hanging in the back of her head of the possibility that this machine could break down or stop with them still on it, but she was still excited. She pointed a finger at the cart, following it as it moved. Eagerly, Corinne turned to Jaebum and noticed his expression. Lowering her hand, her head tilted just slightly to the side as he tried making it seem like he was fine with heights. It may not even be heights that was bothering him, but she didn’t want to comment. If he wouldn’t have wanted to come here or wanted to get on, she was sure he wouldn’t have. Instead, she reached up to gently place her hand on his shoulder reassuringly. “You’ll be okay.” Corinne hoped that was enough to help him feel even a little more at ease. At least she hoped.

“Maybe it’s not just about being close-minded but being afraid of something else, an other that we don’t understand.” Mino smiles softly while nodding in agreement, “You think aliens look like us? I was thinking more in the lines of bacteria-like organisms. Wait wait, walking around us, like disguising themselves? Crazy.” Or was it? Mino had not completely discarded the idea of that possibility. About to open his mouth to comment on his opinion about the exponential improbability that about aliens visiting this planets out all off the others in the universe the comment stops him in his tracks. Suppressing a grin, he plays along. “Woah! Keep your voice down, you’re going to blow my cover and I have important business here on Earth.”
“Hmh. That could be true. I’ve never thought about it that way.” Corinne’s eyes squinted in deep thought, giving a slow nod. “I mean-- think about it though. Aliens are supposed to be so much smarter than humans. They have the means to come to earth for research and what better research than staying on earth and trying to fit in? They’d have to look like us. You know when they come closer to earth, they could just be dropping one of their own off or picking them up. Maybe they disguise themselves as cows to further understand animals as well as humans and that’s why we see so many cow abductions. Eh?” This was a real conversation they were having and she was definitely getting very involved. “I knew it. I knew it. Okay...I won’t blow your cover if you tell me about how space is really like.I have the CIA on speed dial...just letting you know before you make your decision. Sound like a deal?” She smiled, glad that he was playing along with the conversation that was born by a little bit too much caffeine.
I miss you and I want to see you, The words ‘how are you’ seem to be meaningless, The memories that we had together are left, Like a polaroid picture in my heart.

❝WELL, i’m absolutely all for flattery, but are ya’ talkin’ to the right person, sugar?❞ mimi had just gotten out of work early after batting her eyelashes at her boss, and did not expect this type of greeting whatsoever—-well, because she seldom ever got one of the kind. suffice to say, the female was adorable and she wasn’t the type to turn down compliments. ❝what brings you out during the night time, anyway? ya’ look too nice to be around here, weird people come out during this time, y’know.❞ this wasn’t so much of a threat but a warning, maybe in a different setting this meeting would have gone very differently, but eh, it was a saturday.
If Corinne could nod her head with more avidity, she would. It was another one of those days when her car decided to torture her by making her have no choice but to choose public transportation to get to her job. Corinne couldn’t count how many times she has had to walk home alone and in the dark this week and she was never afraid of anything happening to her but there was a strange vibe outside today...and Corinne listened to her intuition more than she listened to her parents as a child. The streets were vacant and she had been hearing rustling sounds from behind her for a while now. Each time she’d calmly turn her head, it would stop. It wasn’t until the sight of this woman that Corinne’s heartbeat to simmer down. Her words came out of nowhere but there was no lie behind it. “I’m walking home from work. I thought I have been hearing things for over half an hour now and no one has been around so it’s nice to finally see another human being...I’m sorry if that was weird of me to say.” Corinne would have commented on the woman’s warning, but now all she could focus on was one thing: this girl is really pretty.
"Do you ever do this, you think back on all the times you've had with someone and you just replay it in your head over and over again and you look for those first signs of trouble?"
&& - (500) Days of Summer Starters : accepting.
Talking about relationships always had a bitter effect on Corinne. As much as she wanted to admit that she was completely over her ended engagement, it was always on her mind. Always. She hated the fact that she saw him everywhere, in almost everything she did his face would pop up in her mind. At times she would even want to call him up to tell him about something funny that happened to her that day. She missed having someone that was so happy to see her and hear about her stories. Someone who genuinely gave a rat’s ass about every single thing she had to say and who would go out of his way to spend time with her. Of course, she had only recently been thinking about how blinded she was to the obvious warning signs and there were plenty the more times she would do it.
“Yeah, sure. When you focus too much on the good things, it’s hard to see when things started changing for the worse. You’re basically blinded. Sometimes it’s better to keep your mind on all of the bad things that happened so you can start detaching yourself from a relationship and feeling bad almost every day about it ending.” She shrugged simply. Corinne wasn’t sure what the other was going through, but she could only assume it was similar to what she went through when her last relationship ended.

“Say what you want about my apartment, but it is saving your life. And doesn’t have any insects- to my knowledge anyway.” Okay, maybe Selina added that last part to poke some fun at her and maybe, it was the wrong time to do so. Still latching on to her hand, she turned around in order to be back-to-back with Cori, holding on to the cleaning spray as if it were gun. “We take no mercy and make sure to spray every corner.” Her tone as stern as ever whilst repeatedly pressing down on the bottle’s handle to spray out the detergent. The task, as simple as it seemed, was actually pretty hard as she was having problems keeping complete balance of herself. Selina even managed to stumble and in the process almost pulled Cori down. “I think I may be way in over my head here, oh my god.” Her twitched, looking down at the ground.
It literally could be saving her life. Corinne wasn’t even positive if what fell onto her lap was an arachnid or a cockroach. She didn’t want to find out if it were the latter. There was no way she wanted to go through what happened last time she had an allergic reaction in front of Selina. “Okay.” Cori nodded her head furiously, her hand squeezing Selina’s a little bit tighter. The one thing she couldn’t muster the courage to do was open her eyes. Who knows where the spray was going, she only hoped her aim was good enough. The sudden jerk towards the floor had her eyes widen and a fearful gasp come out of her mouth. Corinne couldn’t find it in her to continue trying. She couldn’t. It was too much and she was too nervous. “I-- can’t! I don’t want t-- how am I going to come back here?” If it were easier for her to cry, she would have been on the verge of tears at this very moment, shaking from the nerves and moving behind Selina. “Can you check if we got it...”
night excursion — - j&c
☢ — - The recognisable bubbly laughter caught Jaebum’s attention so he glanced up his mobile’s screen which had received her text to stare at her, eventually pulling a face. “Bad influence from a high school movie in the eighties? Sounds horrific. In all honesty, I look like a common thug.” Consciously, he scanned his attire which was pretty much his everyday look. “But this is how I usually dress. It could be worse with those jackets with the studs and all but I prefer class over trash.” Swinging his leg over his motorcycle and revving it started, he motioned at her to come over. “Safety instructions: at all times you must hold onto me for your dear life. You can yell as much as you want but there may be a point where I’ll dump you on the side if you get too noisy.” He stared at her without much emotion although he was joking Handing out a pair of driving goggles to her, he shrugged. “In case you might need them. But if we do get chased by the police then don’t worry about that. I always outrun them. I’m going to take you somewhere special.” There were a million definitions behind his version of “special” but there was no fun in anything if there wasn’t an element of surprise which he would leave for later.
“Ready?” He took in a deep breath – wondering if he was himself. Too many ghastly memories were associated with riding on the freeways which could surface. However the bright memories he had with his best friend were more powerful right now, probably because of the spirited lively presence of Corinne behind him. It was another thing they had in common: sharing the thrill for adrenaline although Jaebum rarely showed it. Kicking the stand off, he started off slow on the smaller roads until they reached the traffic signal for the upcoming three way lanes. Twisting his body around slightly to glimpse at her as they stopped at the red light, he spoke with underlying excitement in his tone as he asked (while also checking out her expression), “Are you ready?” They were already getting a curious look from the driver in the car next to them but only six seconds left till they zoom off. Jaebum lowered down his own goggles and turned around to face the front. One second before the light flashed green, he twisted the grip for the accelerator, immediately speeding off. Easing through the lanes, zigzagging through the other vehicles at 90mph, Jaebum felt more alive than he had in a long time. With the breeze ruffling through his hair and the colourful city lights eclipsing with one another, his bad mood ebbed away completely with each passing moment of the wind breezing through his hair.
Maybe it was also the comfort of having warm arms around him as well that eased his mind into relaxation. Although Jaebum barely opens up to anyone let alone touch him, he felt carefree with Corinne’s holding onto him and it was the most serene he felt in ages. He allowed himself to smile without holding himself back and started to hum one of his favourite songs underneath his breath as they cruised down the freeway for a good forty five minutes going over 90mph at some points. Eventually he slowed down at the exit curve to the destination that was slightly outside of the city. Slowing down and shoving up his goggles with a hand, he turned around slightly to smirk. “Ignore the trespassing warning signs. I could probably set this place on fire and nobody would know until they actually see the smoke unless there’s some druggies hanging about but they won’t have the guts to say anything.” Still he took the extra precaution of driving his motorcycle onto the sidewalk of the emptied parking lot and parked it behind a tree before sliding off. Pointing up at the large deserted ferris wheel, he raised a brow at her. “That old thing still works. I’ve been here before. It’s got a real nice view. Want to check it out? I’ll have to see whether it still works or not first.”
“It’s not just the way you dress-- just, your aura in general.” Corinne mentioned, her hands motioning to all of him. In no way was she saying a bad thing. He always looked so cool and it seemed so effortless that she kind of admired it. With each step closer to his motorcycle, her heartbeat raced a little faster. This is the feeling she lived for. Nodding at his instructions, she reached for the safety goggles to place them at the top of her head for now. “If there is a police chase, I’m trusting your word. I can’t go to jail. I have deadlines this week.”
This wasn’t the first time she had been on a motorcycle. On her many travels with her parents, some of their transportation methods were by motorcycle but she knew all too well that getting on one with Jaebum was going to be highly different than the calm, slow rides she’s been on. It was a small struggle for her to jump onto the motorcycle and adjust the way in which she was sitting a few times before wrapping her arms around his torso comfortably. Being this physically close to him was unfamiliar but surprisingly she didn’t feel awkward about it one bit. Corinne nodded in assurance that she was ready for him to take off. In all honesty, she was expecting him to start off as fast as he could. Once he asked repeated her question at a stoplight, she realized he was probably going to take off at a greater speed than earlier. Again Corinne nodded, this time with much more enthusiasm and when he took off, her grip around him tightened almost immediately. There was a combination of exhilaration, fear, relaxation, and joy with a layer of anxiety & immense amount of adrenaline running through her body. At one point, it caused a few laughs to come out of her. Truly enjoying herself after missing this kind of rush and missing his company.
As he slowed down, Corinne took in their surroundings. Remembering him telling her that this was somewhere special, the smile remained permanently on her lips the entire time. She wondered how many times Jaebum comes here and if he comes often. After he parked, Corinne hopped off eagerly to search for what Jaebum was showing her. Her eyes instantly lit up. “That might still work? Yes! This is going to feel like I finally have a carnival all to myself. My dream might come true.”

Cain yawned, coffee cup clutched tightly between his hands. He was all made up, just having finished a shoot for his latest album, and he was exhausted. So instead of sending someone to go get coffee for him, he squashed a hat over his unruly hair and covered his overly lined eyes with dark sunglasses and set off to the nearest cafe. He probably looked pretty shady in the corner, all dressed in black, hood over his head and practically sneering at the world. The feline just didn’t deal well with lack of sleep and lots of people, despite his job demands.
Practically every seat in the cafe was taken except for the one across for him. Most deciding to leave before taking the chance at asking for the chair. He took another sip from his coffee, closing his eyes. Either the cafe would clear out soon enough or someone would ask him eventually.
Finally, a chance to feel awake for once today. It was one of those days where almost everything that could go wrong before work, did. Corinne had forgotten completely to put her alarm on and slept in for a full hour. Her car refused to turn on and halfway to the repulsive train station she realized she left all of her paperwork back home. It was the first time she had been late to work. Thankfully, because it was her first time late to work, she was let off easy but she was completely worn out. Getting coffee after work was the only thing she was looking forward to.
Corinne didn’t expect the cafe to be this full at this time. There were other cafes not too far from this one but she was determined to order here for she had been daydreaming about their coffee for hours. Huffing out a deep sigh with her coffee held tightly in her hands, she looked around for any empty table but the only thing she could find was one empty seat. The man sitting across from the only available seat seemed as exhausted as she was and she knew he probably didn’t want anyone bothering him but Corinne was too tired to care. “Would you mind if I sat here?” She asked, a weary smile spread across her lips.
