Continuation on my twitter of Mevin!
Here’s the first post if you haven’t already seen it. And here’s another short I wrote from the 3rd picture.
Kylo glanced up from the open wall, startled to suddenly see the dark haired man from a couple days before.
Hux looked down at him, an eyebrow cocked. He had happened to be walking by when he had saw Matt crouched on the floor, peering into the open fuse box. He had decided to stop and had been watching the man poke around seemingly clueless for several seconds.
Kylo didn’t know what to say with Kevin’s scrutiny now upon him. His hard gaze reminded rivaled that of a certain General.
“Uh, I’m just trying to fix… this thing.“
Kylo gestured vaguely to the wires in front of him.
Hux couldn’t help as the side of his mouth quirked up in slight amusement, watching the blonde man stare forlornly into the box. Usually seeing an insufficiently trained technician would send him into furious tirade… but for some reason, he felt different today.
Kylo felt just about ready to give up and go change out of his ridiculous outfit when Kevin spoke up again.
“It’s actually quite easy, you’re just connecting the wrong wires to the calcinator.”
A moment later, Kevin was suddenly crouched down next to him, reaching into the box.
Kylo watched in shocked silence as the suit clad man swiftly twisted and connected wires, evidently having done this before. In just a few minutes, Kevin has fixed the calcinator that Kylo had been working on for over an hour.
Hux finished up and tucked the wires back into the box. He hadn’t done like work that in years, but one never really forgot.
Turning his head to the left, Hux found Matt’s gaze already on him, just a few inches away, realizing just how close they really were.
Kylo felt warmer than usual in his coveralls as him and Kevin looked at each other in silence for a few seconds. Through his glasses, Kylo saw that Kevin’s eyes were an icy shade of blue-green, giving him the distinct feeling he had seen them before.
Hux’s own eyes ran quickly over Matt’s face, taking in the artfully placed moles adorning his skin. Matt certainly wasn’t handsome in the conventional sense, Hux couldn’t deny the attraction he felt towards him, but there was something odd about Matt, he just couldn’t place it.
Kylo knew he shouldn’t have, but he couldn’t keep his gaze from dropping down to Kevin’s pink lips. It was only for a second, but the action didn’t go unnoticed by the other man. Just like that, the air between them was changed to something much heavier.
Matt was close enough Hux could feel the small huffs of breath coming from his slightly parted lips on his own. Glancing down himself, Matt’s lips sure did look plush… Hux had no idea what he was about to do next.
The abrupt beeping of Hux’s comm cut off the rest of his sentence.
“Kriff!” Hux cursed, pulling it out of his pocket and seeing the urgent message. General Hux was need immediately on the bridge and here he was dressed as Kevin, playing technician with a lowly radar man.
Kylo blinked several times, gaining a hold of himself as Kevin shot up next to him. Kylo didn’t know what it was like to be an accountant within the Order, but being paged so insistently for your presence was not what he would have expected.
“I have to go.” Hux said quickly, already turning away. He would have to sprint back to his room to change… but then a warm hand clasped down, stopping him.
Hux whipped his head back around to see Matt standing as well now, holding him in place by the hand.
Shifting awkwardly, Kylo pushed the question out of his mouth before he second guessed himself.
Kevin’s eyes slightly widened. Whatever he was expecting Kylo to say, it certainly hadn’t been that.
A single beat passed before Hux responded, not even thinking about it.
Hux watched as the blonde man visibly relaxed in front of him and let go of his grip on his hand.
“Okay.” He responded, a small smile gracing his lips.
All Hux could think to do was nod in return, giving out a swift final, “Goodbye,” to Matt before proceeding down the hallway. If Matt watched his retreating back until he disappeared around the corner, Hux didn’t see.
Only hours later, disaster diverted and blissfully alone in his quarters for the night, did Hux think back and realize just how much he liked Matt’s smile. For the first time in a long while, Hux found himself actually looking forward to see the radar technician again.
