Support your local bakeries, libraries, beekeepers, diviners, and soapmakers.Â
Especially if theyâre witches. But also if theyâre mundane. Keep your town alive, keep those economics flowing, and youâll build not only great local businesses, but relationships with businesses that you can actually trust.
To the person who reblogged this with a âno animal products stipulationâ, this is the wrong blog for that! Support small and hobbyist farmers with humane animal rearing practices! Buy their eggs! Buy their milk and cheese! Buy their wool and fiber! Weâre all in this together!!!
Support your local bookstores, coffee shops, surfboard shapers, ice cream parlors, dive bars, the girl you went to high school with who makes her own line of lotions, the dude from down the street who owns a landscaping business, and the guys and gals in your local comic book shop. Shop local to keep it local.
Also local music venues and bands, and community theatres, and movie theatres!

do you ever get in those moods where you donât feel like reading and you donât feel like being on the internet and you donât feel like watching a show and you donât feel like sleeping and you donât feel like existing in general
oh to be a little dog sprinting at top speeds around the house with reckless abandon to release all the stress pent up from your extremely harrowing bathtime
Friendly reminder: when people say âas long as you tried your bestâ it doesnât mean âthe best you could possibly have done everâ it means âthe best you were capable of at the time.â Sometimes âtrying your bestâ is just getting out of bed in the morning. Just because you werenât working yourself to the bone doesnât mean you werenât trying your best.Â
guess whoâs finally content with life and not suffering from depression anymore it ainât me but they out there
Hey do y'all fucks remember two years ago when just before the election all these âdonât vote both parties are badâ or âvote independent!â Posts were going around and then Trump won and now two weeks before midterms thereâs all these âdonât bother voting, revolution is the only way!â And âyour vote isnât gonna matter and is an ineffective way to protestâ posts are going around? Yeah knock that shit right the fuck off, donât fall for it and get your ass to the polls, we are not doing this again.
In the Netherlands, abortion is legal. There is however one pro life organization called Stichting Schreeuw Om Leven. But instead of harrassing women who are on their way to the abortion clinic and make them feel miserable, they offer them HELP.
If a woman wants to get an abortion because she is financially unable to give birth to and raise a baby, the organization will pay for everything she needs during the pregnancy and after, until sheâs financially stable to raise the baby on her own.
This organization wonât stop women from going to the abortion clinic, but would rather hve a healthy conversation with them. Ask them if they can help her with anything in order for them to keep the baby. They also hand out contraception in the streets for those who canât afford it.
Women donât get abortions just because they want to. There are reasons why. This organization doesnât fight abortion, it fights the reasons why women get abortions. Take notes America.
America doesnât WANT to take notes. Anti-abortion in America isnât about actually preventing abortions itâs about controlling women. Thatâs it. Thatâs all it is.

No one cares if you want an abortion you dumb whore,we just don't want to pay for it.
Oh, hate mail. My, my, I really have arrived in online high society! Hereâs the thing, faceless internet person. You do care. You care enough to send anon hate mail to someone who reblogged a post about US attitudes to abortion; something about that clearly threatens you enough to provoke a reaction. What makes you think I (or anyone else) want an abortion? You equate posting about the importance of access to sexual health services and healthcare in general with wanting abortions. Abortions arenât a thing people âwantâ, they arenât a luxury people choose to indulge in. However, there are times when people make the decision that an abortion is the most appropriate choice out of difficult set of choices at the time; and I believe in letting people make that choice. Abortions are healthcare; they are often carried out for health reasons, (whether for the parent or for the foetus). Therefore I believe that, like contraception, and other health services they should be freely accessible to those in need of them. As it happens, Iâm in the UK where universal access to basic healthcare is considered important and uncontroversial. Itâs sad to hear that basic empathy isnât universal. So, if youâre in the US, you certainly wouldnât be paying for my imaginary future abortions.
I have to say, as a UK doctor raised in a less⊠individualistic culture, I find the attitude displayed here selfish, unhumanitarian and (yes, if youâre religious, un-Christian). If your attitude to someone else needing help is âI donât want to pay for you to get helpâ, there is something very wrong with your world view. We all pay for a wide range of healthcare; itâs neither possible nor desirable to pick amongst them. You donât get to choose to deny smokers treatment for their asthma, or someone who drinks treatment for their head injury. Or skateboarders treatment for their broken leg. Thereâs a stigma against conditions seen as âself-inflictedâ, but in reality, many of all our health problems are at least partly influenced by our actions, and if we chose to deny people healthcare unless they were âinnocentâ enough, weâd be refusing to help a lot of people. As it happens, my job as a doctor isnât to judge people or deny them healthcare if I think they are undeserving or if something is âself-inflictedâ; in fact, viewing complex issues through such a lens is inherently problematic. Weâre here to help people, not punish them for being human.
And letting yourself be led by such rhetoric only helps propagate insurance based systems that cost the government and individuals far more than all other systems. The US healthcare system costs you and your government more - a few times more per person than the NHS costs us. Seeing healthcare as something for which people need to fend for themselves isnât just selfish and lacking in empathy, it also has consequences that are bad for you too. Healthcare is expensive; itâs actually cheaper for all of us when funded together and when we try to cut the middle men as much as possible. It might not have occurred to you to, but I pay taxes, too. I pay my taxes hoping to fund a well-functioning healthcare system which looks after everyone when they need it, not only the people who can pay for it. I hope it treats the homeless and the poor, and those who canât pay for their care. Far from being a fault deserving of outrage, itâs one of the reasons Iâm proud to work in the NHS, and why so many of us go above and beyond in our jobs in healthcare. I certainly hope that my tax money (and being a doctor, Iâm probably paying more tax than you are) is going towards making abortion safe and readily available to those who need it. I believe in doing my bit to fund public infrastructure and ensure everyone is well looked after.
Lastly, nobody gets to call me a dumb whore. What a sad, insecure little person you must be, that your reflexive response when you read a post you donât like or feel threatened by, is to impugn the humanity of another. I have two degrees and a whole bunch of people who love and respect me for who I am; your words have no power here. You have no idea of my sexual history, and itâs certainly irrelevant to this post. I could have slept with a million people, it wouldnât make any of the above less true, and Iâm sick of women and sex workers being shamed as if someoneâs sexual history is ever a reason to disrespect them. Besides, anyone who anonymously sends hate messages without even checking which country someone is in probably shouldnât be throwing the epithet âdumb whoreâ around at anyone. If I get any more hate mail along the same theme, Iâll assume itâs you or your troll friends and report/block on site. Anyone who has issues with reproductive healthcare any my being pro-choice is free to unfollow as they choose. But I hope perhaps you, or people who might think like you, can read this reply and have a think about it instead.
