Katie didn’t understand it, why wasn’t she running? Cormac was an asshole and for some reason she liked him. Maybe it was the thrill, maybe she was just being stupid. Katie didn’t know why she liked Cormac, all she knew in this moment was that she wanted him, bad.

Katie ran her fingers along the hemline of his shirt and bit her lip, smiling, as she looked up at Cormac. She paused, and suddenly changed the direction of her thoughts, grabbing Cormac’s face and kissing him. She moved her lips, lightly teasing his ear with her kisses then softly nibbling on it. Katie giggled and led messy kisses down his neck and to his collar bone. She moved back up to Cormac’s mouth and kissed him once more. ”Do you wanna move somewhere more comfortable?” she asked breathily, not looking him in the eyes.

Cormac took a deep breath in, this was not what he was expecting. Normally, he would say yes immediately, especially to a girl a beautiful as Katie. But that was just it; Cormac thought Katie was beautiful, not hot or sexy. Okay, he did think she was those things but in a different way. Cormac wanted to make Katie happy, not just please himself. But if this is what she wants... he thought to himself. Cormac slightly shook his head, angry at himself. This was not what she wanted, she was drunk and not thinking straight.

Cormac continued to argue with himself, wanting to be there for Katie, but also just wanting to give in to his reputation. That's what everyone expects of me right? he thought to himself, To just take what I want from her and leave? Cormac knew that he wasn't like that though, not to everyone at least.

Cormac had made his decision, he wasn't going to take advantage of Katie in a time like this. He was going to care for her and be committed to her. He wanted Katie to be his girlfriend, not just some random hook-up like before. Cormac took Katie's hand, answering "sure" to her question, and leading her back towards the castle. He was careful, making sure no one saw them, until finally making their way back to the portrait. Once inside the common room, Cormac picked Katie up in his arms and took her to the couch, sitting her down. He then sat beside her and stroked her hair softly. "Listen," he said, "you need to go to sleep now. We have classes in the morning , you don't want to be too tired." He then lightly kissed Katie on the head and laid her down. Cormac got a blanket from one of the near-by chairs and draped it over her. "Goodnight," he whispered before making his way up to his bed.

I understand that Katie ended up crying. And obviously you had something to do with it or you wouldn’t be so tetchy.

So, maybe, instead of yelling at girls in the corridors, you should be apologizing to the girl that you upset and trying not to do it in future.

Katie smiled and placed her hand on his cheek, pulling his face up to meet hers. What am I doing, she thought, this is so stupid. Still, as if her mind couldn’t control her own body, Katie leaned in closer to Cormac. She placed her hands on his chest and looked into his eyes. Katie could smell the alcohol on his breath and could feel the warmth coming from his body. She lightly closed her eyes and leaned in just a little closer, until she felt his slightly chapped lips on hers. Katie couldn’t think, couldn’t control herself. She started to kiss him with more passion. All she wanted in this moment was him. She didn’t care what Cormac had done to her in the past, all she cared about was now. Katie deepened the kiss and ran one of her hands through his hair. Her other hand was running all across Cormac’s chest, wanting to feel every inch of it through his shirt. Katie then leaned a little bit too much forward and was suddenly falling. Katie didn’t even scream, just giggled when she fell, as she wasn’t very high up in the tree.

Cormac jumped down and sat Katie up, placing her on top of him. Cormac stared into her eyes lovingly, and slowly tucked her hair behind her ear. He wondered why he liked Katie so much. She was sweet and didn't listen to stereotypes, she was his total opposite. Cormac leaned in close to her, placing his forehead on hers. Her breath was a mixture of alcohol and mint, and her cheeks were soft against his rough hands as he caressed her.

Cormac thought about how brave Katie was. She would always stick up for others and wasn't afraid to stand her ground. She was also pretty kick-ass in Quidditch. He smiled slightly at the thought of Katie trying to shove an opponent twice her size out of the way. That was the moment Cormac decided he didn't want to mess this up. He craved Katie, and he would do anything to make her want him.

"Whatever," Katie said, grabbing one of his beers from him. She opened it and took a huge gulp. Why am I doing this, she thought as she drank some more. After thinking for a bit, Katie took Cormac’s hand and started walking towards the forbidden forest. She drank some more and was already stumbling a bit, since she was so small. ”Have you ever wondered why the forest is forbidden?” Katie asked Cormac, “What’s in there to make it so dangerous?”

All of a sudden Katie started running along the forests edge, yelling “Come out, come out whatever you are!” She stopped then and cocked her head to the side, listening for any movement from the forest. When she didn’t hear anything she looked back at Cormac. ”Are you coming then? Don’t you want to have some fun?” Katie was off again, running to find a tree.

Once they found a tree large enough, Cormac climbed up to the lowest branch and pulled Katie up with him. This is probably one of the oddest things that have ever happened to me, Cormac thought to himself. He decided to climb higher, as high as he could. He could't get very high though because of his height. Once he was there, Cormac started to teeter over the edge, threatening to fall.

"Would you care," he asked Katie, "would you care if I fell?" Without waiting for an answer, Cormac climbed back down to Katie. "I'm really sorry about the other night," he mumbled, "it was stupid. I wouldn't of really minded if you were some random girl, but you're not. I really like you Katie." Cormac glanced down, not really wanting to see her reaction.

So...

Sounds like McLaggen proved himself quite the arse…

Katie got up from her seat on her bed in her dorm, annoyed. Needing some fresh air she walked down to the common room and then to the portrait, making sure no one saw her. Stepping out, Katie headed down the corridors aimlessly, just needing to be away from people for a while. No one could seem to stop talking about their problems, which just made her think about hers all the more. Why couldn’t her and her friends just have a light hearted conversation about Quidditch or homework. Why did always have to be about boys?

Unknowingly, Katie started heading towards the astronomy tower. All problems seemed to centre around boys, she thought as she walked. Suddenly, someone large bumped into her, sending her to the ground. ”Hey!” she said as she got herself up, “Watch where you’re going!” That’s when she looked up and saw that her attacker was, Cormac McLaggen. Great, she thought as she looked more closely at him, he seems to be drunk.
