Synopsis: Being a bunny hybrid, you discover how unkind the world can be to an unmated omega. To mask you scent, you decide to rent out a room to an alpha who can keep the unwanted advances at bay, but the unfamiliar man brings on a change with his presence.
Warnings: +18 mdni, alpha!sylus, bunny hybrid!reader, omega!reader, peacock hybrid!rafayel, brother Caleb, unwanted advances, sexism, misogyny, hierarchy, roommate app that’s pretty much a form of the dating app hinge, heat cycles, doggy style, missionary style, tail pulling, nesting, petnames (sweetie, sweetheart, good/bad girl, bunny girl), domestic sylus and reader?, oral (fem receiving), squirting, multiple rounds, multiple orgasms, knotting, first time, loss of virginity, lemme know if I missed anything
You needed a roommate. They also needed to be an alpha whose scent could be used to deter any heathen from tormenting you when you were at your most vulnerable.
After your brother had moved out to live with his girlfriend, you had spent a couple of months living on your own. It was fine at first, but then you went through your quarterly estrus cycle. As your scent changed on the days leading up to it, a dense sweet smell permeated from your warming skin, and the lack of an alpha’s scent mixing with yours, you were constantly being cat-called, so taking it as far as to trail behind you for a couple of blocks.
It got to the point where you refused to leave your home. Thankfully, you had accumulated enough sick hours at work that you were able to take the days off without having to worry. In the meantime, you lived off of canned goods and microwaveable meals you had stored beforehand just to avoid human interaction. You made sure all the windows were shut, the locks in place, and the bolt on the front door was set. You even went as far as to barricade the door with multiple pieces of furniture.
On the day of your heat, you ended up crying yourself to sleep. It was then that you noticed what little respect there was for an unclaimed, or unscented omega in heat. It was disgusting to think they were feeding off of not only your scent, but cries of pain. You refused to let them hear your moans while in the midst of pleasure. You kept your hands away from any erogenous zones, your nails leaving crescent-shaped marks on your palms when it was all over. A testament to your willpower.
At the end of the cycle, one was supposed to feel rejuvenated as if a weight had been taken off your shoulder. For those ready for commitment, this was a time meant to conceive and start a family with your loved one. For those few unmated individuals, it was where one experienced spine-tingling ecstasy. Whether by yourself or with a partner, one’s heat allowed you to let your guard down a few times throughout the year.
You had spent the entire time on edge. Every little sound had you flinching, your eyes snapping from one place in the room to another. The adrenaline running through you had you feeling your heartbeat throughout your entire body.
You had very little wiggle room. It was like the walls were closing in, minimizing the air you were able to breathe. You felt as though every unmated male was prowling along the perimeter of your home, waiting for you to break and invite them in. When growls and howls could be heard, you hid under the sheets, praying for it all to be over. For the first time in your life, you were afraid.
Before Caleb had moved out, you lived without a care in the world. He kept you safe. He had no problem putting a person in their place for you. A part of you wanted to call him, have him make sure no one could bother you during this time.
But it wouldn’t be fair to him or his partner.
He had a mate who needed him. They should be able to live their lives without having to put a pause just to make yours easier. You had to try and fix this on your own.
Wracking your brain, you tried to figure out your best course of action.
You needed the presence of an alpha. Their scent needed to linger on your skin just enough to keep others away. Since the alpha wouldn’t have any biological ties to you, their pheromones would carry more weight. It would be as if you wore a giant sign. On your forehead that warned for others to keep their distance. They would have to respect the possibility of you belonging to someone.
No more unwanted leering. No more disgusting catcalls. It was a shame that in this day in age, most alphas refused to see an omega as something other than to claim and possess. The percentage of them settling down and forming a family was slowly declining.
You scour the internet for things you could do at home to mask your scent. You were skeptical it would work as most of them recommended you cover your home with the smell of essential oils. There was only so much you could tolerate before you started to get a headache triggered by lavender and rose petals.
One suggestion had you sitting up from your reclined position in bed.
It was a small paragraph detailing the services the app offered and a link to their official website and another to the App Store. When you clicked on the link, it led you to a site that had been clearly created by an actual designer and not a bot.
The name was the first thing that stood out. Though generic, in a thin, cursive font with a pink shadow behind the lettering, it read RENT A MATE.
It appeared legit as it had reviews from omegas and alphas alike. The high rollers had their socials linked, offering you a verified page, reducing the possibility of being catfished.
The website promised extensive background checks on those interested in applying to their site. Once approved, you’d receive an invitation to create your profile, allowing you to pick your status and preferences. There was even an option allowing you to state whether you wanted to live with the person.
You didn’t need a roommate, but it would make things easier. On one hand, if the two of you got along, you’d have a friend to come home to at the end of the day. On the other hand, what if you couldn’t stand one another? Much like a dating app, you’d have to see if you got along well with the person. There was no way you’d invite them to your place after the first meeting.
By the time your background check went through, you’d have less than three months to meet someone you’d be comfortable enough to invite into your space.
You’d be stepping out of your comfort zone, but after the few agonizing nights you went through, you knew you needed to have a solution asap.
“Very nice,” Rafayel commented as his eyes trailed over your profile picture, finger scrolling through your page. “You’re straight to the point and not allowing any space for innuendos. Creeps will look for any reason to go after a cute girl. Especially a cute bunny girl like you.”
He smirked as your cheeks turned an adorable pink color. You took back your phone from him and went over it for the hundredth time.
“You don’t think the picture makes me look dorky?”
The purple-haired male glanced at you over his glasses.
“You really want me to answer that?”
You whined as you dragged out his name. The corner of his mouth twitched as you brought up his coffee cup to his lips. He took a sip before dramatically sighing.
“You don’t have to go through such lengths, cutie. You’re more than welcome to stay at my place when you’re in heat and I can also go to yours.”
“You’re schedule is too unpredictable and I don’t feel like lugging all my nesting materials to and back from your place. Besides, omegas need time to acclimate to the space they’ll be using during their heat. By the time I start experiencing symptoms, it’ll be too late.”
Rafayel hummed in agreement. He snickered, leaning his elbows on the tabletop and his chin on his clasped hands.
“So you’re really going to let a random stranger move into your place?”
“Well, when you put it like that it sounds horrible but, what choice do I have? I do plan on getting a feel of the person before I invite them to be my roommate and I’m really weighing my options. It might be wishful thinking but I’m hoping one of the “popular” ones accepts my request. If they agree to the arrangement then great and if not then on to the next.”
You awkwardly shifted in your seat as Rafayel took off his sunglasses, giving you a serious look over. His eyes twitched as he squinted, staring at you dead in the eye.
“You’re really serious about this.”
Stirring your drink with the straw, you responded with a deep sigh. The gloomy look on your face made the male reach out, settling his hand on your clenched one.
“My last heat was a nightmare, Rafie. Caleb moved out and, now I have no other choice but to put my big girl panties on and figure things out on my own. Unfortunately, that means putting myself in questionable situations. One good thing is I’d have someone to split the bills with and who knows, maybe he’ll be a good cook, so I don’t have to live off of instant ramen and take out.”
Rafayel was about to speak when his phone dinged, signaling a text message. He dramatically rolled his eyes as he read who it was from. Thomas had the habit of getting under the artist’s skin.
“I haven’t known peace since this man came into my life.”
You snickered before finishing your drink. As Rafayel answered him, his fingers rapidly moving over the screen, you busied yourself with scrolling through the newly downloaded app.
You were meticulous, reading through every little thing on each person’s profile. Just when you thought you had found someone who piqued your interest, a questionable preference or an obviously cringy thirst trap had you declining the individual. Maybe you were being too picky, but you weren’t going to choose the first person you matched with.
The days were slowly passing and you would need to make a decision soon. As Rafayel stepped out to answer Thomas’ phone call, a verified profile had you shifting in your seat.
His profile picture was simple. It looked like one of those professional headshots actors would take for agencies. His profile had a perfect rating of five out of five stars. Reading over the reviews he had received, most of them only talked about how attractive he was with a few commenting on his personality.
You questioned the profile’s legitimacy. You had heard of people paying for good reviews. Pasting each one of his photos into your search engine just to make sure you weren’t being catfished, you were surprised when a social media account popped up. When you clicked on it, it took you to a profile that matched the one on the dating app.
As you scrolled, you quickly closed out of the app when you got to a shirtless picture of him. If you had one of those old-timey folding fans, you would’ve been fanning yourself dramatically as you kept imagining his half-naked picture. He was a calculated individual, knowing what he was doing as he wore a pair of grey sweatpants and nothing else.
You felt as though you’d be going out of your league by sending him a request. Even though your plan wasn’t to sleep with him, merely to have the scent of an alpha clinging to you and your space to keep others away, but as always, things were subject to change.
It would be a lie if you said you weren’t excited that Sylus had accepted your request. If this ended up working out, you’d have a new roommate to keep you company and, an alpha to keep you safe and scented. There was also the prospect that you’d become friends which wouldn’t be so terrible.
You had promised Rafayel you would check in with him before, during, and after your meeting with your potential alpha. He suggested you meet up at the cafe that the two of you frequented. It was out in the open and as a common patron, the employees knew you and were more than willing to defend you if things got out of hand.
Had you arrived too early? Should you have put more effort into getting ready? What if he preferred a woman in skin-tight clothes? Maybe he’d find your black, long-sleeved turtle neck, brown corduroy skirt, and knee-high boots too plain?
You nervously bit into your bottom lip, eyes going into tunnel vision as you pictured this meeting going south. Your mind went as far as to imagine Sylus taking one look at you, giving a disatisfied “ew” and walking away.
Glancing at your phone to look at the time, you sent Rafayel a quick message, receiving an optimistic response almost instantly. He reminded you to breathe as he had made you share your location with him. You had sent him a picture of yourself, getting his stamp of approval on your choice of clothing. He responded to it with the heart eye emoji and a gif of someone’s heart nearly beating out of their chest.
You giggled to yourself, failing to notice the male making his way over to you. At the sound of your name, you jumped, nearly dropping your phone.
Sylus smiled, picking up instantly the fact that you were a bunny hybrid as you looked up at him from your seat with wide eyes and a fluttering heartbeat. You weren’t his typical apex predator hybrid and to be honest, he didn’t have much expertise with the other end of the scale. Prey hybrids tended to stay away from him. If it wasn’t his predisposition that had them running for the hills, it was the size of him.
He had spotted you through the large window as he had pulled up in his motorcycle, parking it off to the side of the building. He had also spent a minute watching as you adorably shifted in your seat, brushing any stray hairs back into place, nervously biting your lip and impulsively checking the time.
“Sylus?” You asked before standing up from your seat and offering him your hand, but not before wiping your sweaty palms on your skirt. “Nice to meet you.”
He took your hand to give it a gentle shake, his hand swallowing yours due to the size difference. Even standing, you had to look up at him to meet his eyes.
“Hope I didn’t keep you waiting too long, sweetie.”
You blew a raspberry, waving a hand in the air.
“Oh, no! I just got here a few minutes ago.”
Through your nervousness, you had failed to get a good look at him. He was evidently an attractive man, his features not very common as his hair was a shiny silver and his eyes a lovely shade of red.
Everything about him screamed alpha. Not only was he tall, but he was broad, the chair he currently occupied was overshadowed by his frame. His scent was pleasant as well. Though his pheromones wafted off of him in thick layers, there was a softness to it. With such a cool exterior, one would expect him to smell sharp, almost icy, but he didn’t. His scent was soothing and pleasant all around.
“I’m going to get a coffee, want anything?” He offered.
He waited patiently as you got up from your chair, sliding your bag onto your shoulder.
You pretended to look busy while looking at the menu, as if you didn’t order the same thing every time you came here. You just didn’t know what to say.
“You don’t strike me as a coffee drinker. You look like you have a bit of a sweet tooth.” He said, looking down at you.
“I like the smell but I find it too bitter to drink.”
Sensing the anxiety running through you, he made sure to fill the silence with small talk. He led the conversation and you were grateful he had no problem initiating a conversation. Though you refused, he paid for your drink, going as far as to order a freshly baked almond croissant for you.
As he didn’t take no for an answer, you thank him profusely.
As you went to walk back to your seat with your items, you had to do a double-take as one of the baristas’ purple hair reminded you of Rafayel’s. You didn’t get a good look at their face as they had their back turned to you.
Sylus pulled out your seat, gesturing for you to sit. You felt your chest warm up and your fluffy tail that resembled a cotton ball twitch.
“So, what’s got you looking for an alpha? And a roommate at that.” He asked and took a sip of his black coffee.
“To answer you honestly, I had my first heat without an alpha in the house and it was an absolute nightmare. Other people, especially men, could tell I was unclaimed and unscented so I dealt with a lot of unwanted attention. I was constantly on edge and went through my cycle in fear. Even though it passed, I haven’t been able to relax as I keep thinking about my next one.”
He hummed, nodding his head.
“I’m guessing you don’t have much time before your next one?”
“Little more than two months.” You offered. “Just enough time for a roommate to settle and cover the place in their scent. What about you? Any reason you’re on the app?”
“Would you believe me if I said that the fact I’m able to soothe omegas during such a rough time brings me comfort. Until I presented as an alpha, my mom had to go through hers all alone since my dad left us. I got to watch firsthand how difficult a time it could be for you guys, and once I was able to ease and protect my mother with just my pheromones alone, I realized that not all characteristics of an alpha were bad.”
He couldn’t deny that the sparkle in your eye made him happy. Your scent, soft and clean like linen and cotton, seeped through your pores and caressed against his skin like a blanket freshly out of the dryer.
Your chest tightened at his story as you pictured him as a confused child, crying as he was unable to console the person who brought him into this world.
“That’s incredibly kind of you, Sylus. Unfortunately, a lot of people would use their dominance to take advantage of those most vulnerable. It’s nice to see some don’t think that way.” You gave him a small smile, not noticing the flush of his cheeks. “And any reason you’re open to being a random stranger's roommate?”
“Not a completely valid one but, I’m currently rooming with two friends, and in all honesty, they’ve been driving me crazy with how messy and chaotic they’ve become. They’re twins so it’s two against one all the time even when they’re fighting.”
You laughed, hiding your smile behind your hand.
“They get mad that they’re constantly together yet they can’t live without the other. Recently, they’ve been fighting about girls and how they can’t tell them apart. Must be some identity crisis they’re also going through.”
You were surprised by how easy it was to talk to Sylus. As imposing as he was, he was surprisingly gentle. He was soft spoken, his deep tone rumbling deep from within his chest. With his status, one would assume he fed off the attention he received, instead, he respectfully declined or just brushed it off without a second thought.
The two of you had spent a couple of hours together, getting to know one another while offering an insight into your lives. Your tail twitched side to side as he commended you for holding your own during your last estrus. He even apologized on behalf of all alphas and men for making a sensitive time even more unbearable.
As the two of you wrapped up your get-together, he excused himself to go to the bathroom. You waited patiently, grabbing your phone when a notification rang right after the other. Rafayel must be ready to hire the FBI since you haven’t been responding.
Your eyebrows raised as you received a picture of you and Sylus chit-chatting. After zooming out from the alpha’s sweet expression, you noticed the counter in the photo was the same one you had ordered at earlier. Looking over and passed the cash register, you found Rafayel.
He wore the same uniform as all the other cafe employees and a proud smile, his chest puffed out. The damn peacock hybrid was preening as he had managed to practically stalk you during your meeting with Sylus. You watched as he tapped away at his phone, putting it away as you got another notification.
‘Might give up painting and become a private investigator. Paid the employees off to let me cosplay as a retail worker lol’
‘Looks like it went well. That alpha couldn’t keep his eyes off of you;)’
‘Going to head out now. If he doesn’t keep his hands to himself, I’ll personally cut off his dic-’
You didn’t finish reading his last message but you knew in what direction it was headed. Rapidly closing out of your messages, you locked your phone, just in time too as Sylus sat back down.
“You don’t live too far from here, do you?” He asked, looking out the window and into the streetlight-lit road. “Didn’t mean to keep you out this long, sweetheart.”
You tried to ease his concern with a gentle wave of your hand.
“Just a couple of minutes away. I’ll just order a ride home.”
He glanced at you then back out to the street. His motorcycle was parked there beside all the other vehicles belonging to the employees. He bit the inside of his cheek as he thought.
“If you’re comfortable enough riding a motorcycle and with me, I can give you a ride home. You shouldn’t be getting into unknown cars this late.”
You countered him, the corner of your mouth twitching in a teasing manner.
“But I should get onto the back of an unknown motorcycle?”
“You got me there.” He paused as he thought of something that could make you comfortable enough to accept his offer. “If you want, you can take a picture of my license plate and send it to a friend. Hell, I’d let you drive, but I have a feeling we’ll both end up in the emergency department if I do.”
You grimaced at the thought of road rash. Nodding your head, you finally accepted.
Sylus stood and went to help you out of your seat. The two of you thanked the employees for their service as you walked out the front door.
While allowing the bike a minute to heat up, Sylus helped you into his helmet.
“What about you?” You asked as your senses were clouded with his scent as it was concentrated within the confined space.
“I’m more concerned with the precious cargo I’ll be carrying as a backpack in a few minutes.”
You were thankful your face was hidden behind the closed visor otherwise he would be able to see your rosy cheeks.
“Here, wrap this around your waist.” He offered you his leather jacket as he gestured at your skirt.
You did as you were told, the length of the jacket covering the area between your spread legs as you climbed onto the bike.
You entered your address into his GPS. When he took off, your arms tightened around him and your eyes squeezed shut. An eep came from you with every sudden turn or sharp motion. Your heart felt as though it would jump out of your chest as you were filled with adrenaline and anxiety. You’d never have imagined you’d be riding on the motorcycle of an attractive man, and an alpha at that.
When he came to a slow stop at the front of your house, you accepted the hand he offered to help you off the bike. He took the helmet off of you before settling it on the seat and smoothing your flyaways down with his hand.
As he walked you up to your front door, your footsteps synced up with his was all that could be heard. You pulled your keys out of your bag and went to remove his jacket from your frame, turning to give it to him, you paused. The leather creaked as it was crushed under your fingertips.
You hadn’t felt him invade your space. Your guard had gone down after spending a lovely time with him. He crowded into your space, a hand leaning against the door and at the side of your head, your shoulders curled inward as you tried to put as much space as possible between the two of you. If you had claws, they’d be ready to swipe at any sudden movement he made.
“What are you doing?” Your voice was a whisper and all cheerfulness had disappeared.
Sylus’ face morphed to one of surprise, his eyes wide and mouth falling open as he stuttered. He quickly stepped away from you, his arms falling away as a way to provide you with necessary open space. It took him a second to gather himself, his hands going to the pockets of his pants.
“Oh, shit. I’m-I’m sorry.” His cheeks burned a deep shade of pink. “I just thought…Most of the time, the people I’ve met up with tend to want to take things a little further. Their profiles say one thing but then you get them alone and the next thing you know, you’re in bed with them.”
His eyes softened as you nervously avoided his gaze, your hands clutching at the strap of your bag.
“I didn’t mean to put you on edge. I’m really-”
“I think…I’m going to head in now. It’s getting late and I have errands to run tomorrow.”
“Of course, I completely understand.”
He watched as you unlocked your front door, your back never fully turned to him, allowing you to see him in your peripheral vision. He made sure to stand as still as possible, upset that he had made you uncomfortable after such a nice day out.
“Sweetie, I’m really sorry I made you anxious. It was never my intention. I’ll…uh…talk to you soon?”
Sliding past the gap in the door that you made, you offered him a quiet “goodnight, Sylus” before shutting the door. The sound of multiple locks and bolts being put into place didn’t slip past him.
Through the peephole, you watched as he face-palmed, dragging his hand down his face as he took in a deep breath. Before he walked away, you heard a muffled “idiot” as he scolded himself for a perfect night. It wasn’t until he was fully out of your line of sight that you felt like you could breathe. The grip on your purse loosened and a sigh fell from your lips. You glanced at his jacket that was still clutched within your hand.
His apologies seemed sincere, but he could just be playing you. Was the story of his mother even true? Everything he said could’ve been a ploy just to get you to lower your guard before striking.
The rest of the night, it took a while for you to settle down. You had a lot on your mind. All your thoughts were filled with the silver-haired man.
His stature made him imposing and his pheromones were strong. Even after washing the clothes you had worn out, his scent lingered on the fabric. As you walked with him at your side, most people who would have made advances towards you, kept their eyes trained straight ahead and away from you as if one glance would turn them to stone.
Before today’s hiccup, you felt at ease around Sylus. He had made a wonderful first impression, his personal story about his mother gave you an insight into what made him into the man he is today. Every time you thought of him, a strange feeling you had never experienced overcame you.
You didn’t know what to do.
You’d have to sleep on it and when tomorrow came, you’d reach out to Rafayel and ask for his opinion on the situation. His fair share of dates gave him an advantage when it came to these things and the experience you lacked.
The first glance you spared your phone, you were met with multiple notifications. While some of them came from Rafayel, curious as to how the rest of the night went, the others were from Sylus. You didn’t open them right away. From the preview in the notification, you got the gist of what he was talking about. He was apologizing. The newest message was from eight this morning and he was still voicing his regret.
Would someone who meant to take advantage of the situation say sorry this much?
You couldn’t help that you thought every little thing had an ulterior motive.
While eating your breakfast, you called Rafayel. He listened as you recalled last night, opting to respond to your story with dramatic gasps and snickers. If he had them, he’d be clutching his pearls in absolute aghast.
“I’m at a loss, Rafie. I had such a nice time with him, but then he did that and now I don't know what to do.”
“Based on what I saw, I really do think he just read the situation wrong, cutie. I think everyone in that cafe would tell you the same thing. You said the reviews on his profile mostly talk about his looks, maybe that’s just what he’s used to, you know? Most of his matches probably just use him cause he looks like he’s a good fuck.”
You nearly spit out the sip of juice you had taken. Plotting at the drops that landed on your chin, you gathered yourself.
You could vividly picture him shrugging his shoulders, an indifferent look on his face.
“Cutie, much like how men tend to gawk at unmated omegas, a lot of women see an attractive man and instantly want to take them to bed. It’s sad, but it’s true. Like I said, I think he was just acting on autopilot.”
You never thought of it that way. Though the difference was drastic, each predisposition was subjected to unwanted advances.
The sound of an engine revving before being shut off caught your attention. It was the same one from last night when Sylus dropped you off. Walking over to the window, you tried your best to take a peek without causing the curtains to move too much. At your sudden gasp after a moment of silence, Rafayel perked up.
“He’s here.” You gave a brief response and it was enough to have the purple-haired man sit up in bed, shoving his sheets off. Before ending the call, you said. “I’ll call you back.”
Standing at your door, you looked through the peephole. You didn’t realize you were holding your breath until the man at your doorstep spoke.
“Sweetheart, I know you’re there. I can hear your heart beating from out here.” Came Sylus’ voice through the wooden door. “Can we please talk? I’d really like to see you, instead of a door or phone screen while I apologize.”
The sound of locks being undone had him taking a step back. As you appeared from behind the door, he smiled. Not an excited one but one filled with relief.
“Morning, sweetie. Did you get a good night’s rest?”
You nodded. It wasn’t the best as you were too busy thinking about him, but the adrenaline leaving your body had your eyes fluttering. He on the other hand, had dark circles under his pretty eyes.
“I’ll hear you out, but I’d like to finish my breakfast. This might be a mistake, but would you like to join me?”
“I would. If you don't mind that I eat enough for three men.”
You blew air through your nose as you laughed.
“As long as you don't mind that I can only cook eggs with toast and bacon.”
He stepped into your home as you motioned for him to follow.
“Good source of protein and fiber.”
As you had him take a seat at the table, you noticed how small he made everything look. Was the kitchen table always this small? You served him what was left over, adding extra pieces of toast on the side to fill his belly. He thanked you as you placed the dish before him along with a container of jam with a butter knife in it and a cup with juice.
“Sorry, I have mugs, but no coffee.”
“It’s alright. I’ve had a sudden craving for something sweet.”
Your cheeks burned at his attentive stare. He waited for you to continue eating before he took a bite of toast.
You were quiet, unsure of when or where to start. Thankfully, Sylus had no problem taking initiative.
“I wish there was a more meaningful way of expressing how remorseful I am, but the only thing I can say is I’m truly sorry. Never in my life had I experienced embarrassment like I did yesterday after fucking up. I know I pretty much stuck my foot in my mouth when I invaded your space, especially after what you had told me, but I’d really appreciate it if you gave me another chance to prove myself. ”
You nodded, processing his words. Sylus was on edge as he waited for you to give him an answer. Finally sparing him a look after being lost in thought, you gave him a feeble smile.
That one word had Sylus releasing a sigh of relief. All the tension in his body left him as his grip on the handle of the cutlery relaxed.
“And I’m sorry I didn’t take your word for it.”
You said as you played with your fingers. Sylus snickered, waving off your concern.
“I don't blame you, sweetie. Alphas and men haven’t given you much of a reason to trust them.”
Oh, how that soft smile he gave you had you melting. Curse him and his gentle nature.
“How’d you drink out of this thing?” Gruffly, he asked, an eyebrow raised at the cat head-shaped cup that held the juice you had poured him. He was trying to ease your worries. His middle finger tapped on the edge that shaped into a pointed ear. “Gonna stab your damn eye with this thing, sweetheart.”
The skin on your cheeks burned at the nickname, the heat spreading down to your neck and chest. The alpha pretended not to notice to save you a bit of embarrassment, but the animal within perked up at the sound of your heartbeat rising.
“You just have to hold it at an angle when taking a sip.”
“I had a feeling you enjoyed cute things. I was going to comment on the little bear you had connected to your bag yesterday but…well, you know what happened. Either way, adds to your charm.”
You offered a shy laugh, the compliment from this perfect specimen damn near knocking your fuzzy socks off. Even your tail twitched in happiness. You needed to direct the conversation in a new direction before you ended up passing out from embarrassment.
“Not too long ago my brother was living here, but he moved out to be with his mate. I thought his smell wouldn’t fade so quickly since he lived here, but I was wrong.”
Sylus raised his nose as he sniffed the air.
“There are traces of him here and there. Just not enough to keep you safe. I can-”
The calmness of the moment was disrupted by the sound of tires screeching before your front door was shoved open. The two of you stood up, Sylus making sure to put himself between you and the impulsive peacock hybrid making his way through your home.
“Cutie! Are you alr-” Rafayel came to a halt as he came face-to-face with the large, silver-haired alpha shielding you. “Oh, what’s this? Playing hero after trying to take advantage of my sweet little bunny friend!”
“Rafayel!” You moved to stand in front of Sylus now. “You’re the one who told me to give him a second chance.”
“Yeah, but he doesn’t need to know what.”
Sylus cleared his throat.
“You must be her brother. I’m Sylus, potential roommate as you know.”
Rafayel gave an undignified gasp, shaking his hand either way.
“Oh God, no. Don’t compare me to that oaf, he’s a damn brute. I’m just a family friend checking in on her after she hung up on me without telling me why.”
“Probably my fault so I apologize for that.”
Rafayel eased up. Had his feathers been on display, they would’ve settled back down. His eyes trailed over you two and the plates on the table.
“I know I told you to give him a chance, but I didn’t mean to let him move in right away, cutie.” He waltzed over to the crowded table and took a seat in the chair you had been occupying. “Since I’m already here, can I have a plate?”
It wasn’t until a couple of weeks later that you were a hundred percent sure Sylus would make for a good roommate. He let his actions speak for how sorry he was. Constantly checking in with you, your comfort was his priority. He kept all the weirdos at bay.
Before him, you were always having to make way for people on the sidewalk. Now that his scent clung to your skin, people moved out of the way, some even apologizing as they stepped to the side. The men who liked to stand extra close to you while waiting in line at the grocery store, kept their distance.
Even when he wasn’t around, Sylus was still keeping you safe with just his scent.
Things were going back to the way they were before Caleb moved out and you couldn’t be happier. All that was needed was for Sylus to settle into his new room.
Like an obedient puppy, Sylus trailed behind you as you walked towards the space Caleb used to occupy.
“I didn’t know whether you would be bringing your own bedding, so I got you one just in case. I noticed you wear black a lot so I played it safe and went with that.”
Sylus let out a dreamy sigh.
“I must have done something good in my past life since I get to live with an angel in this one.”
He smirked as the tips of your ears turned a deep shade of red, incredibly pleased with the reactions he could pull out of you. Stepping into the barren space, he placed his luggage down with a thunk.
There was no downside to this arrangement. The room that would become his was bigger than his place with the twins and he no longer had to share a bathroom. You gave him free rein throughout the house, encouraging him to use the kitchen when you learned he could cook and most importantly, his roommate was the prettiest little thing.
He looked forward to waking up in the morning, finding you waiting for him with your hair in a disarray and your teddy bear print pajamas that matched your fuzzy socks. He would be privy to your pheromones, and his would cling to yours like a second skin. He no longer had to worry about some loser alpha trying to hit on you.
The sound of the window being opened pulled him out of his daydream. You tied back the curtains as they billowed with the wind coming through.
“I tried to air the room out as much as I could, but you’re more than welcome to keep a window open if it’s still too overpowering. I understand alphas can get a little obsessive over what’s theirs.”
“Especially when what belongs to me comes in an adorably tiny package that smells like clean linen.”
You wished you had a rolled-up newspaper so that you could boop him on the nose, scolding him for his flirtatious comment. He picked up the habit not too long ago, and you just assumed he was incredibly comfortable around you to let his guard down.
“Bad alpha.” You muttered, patting his sturdy chest. “I’ll leave you be so that you can put stuff away. I gotta work on some stuff for work. Please, don’t hesitate to ask me if you need anything, Sy. I’ll be across the hall.”
His eyes followed you as you walked away. He didn’t mention it, but he noticed you had been increasingly tired the last couple of days. He remembers his mother going through the same thing before her time of the month or before her heat. He didn’t want to be that guy, blaming your time of the month for every little change, but if he recalled correctly, your estrus cycle shouldn’t be for another month or so.
He could hear your playlist echoing from your room as you worked, smiling when he caught you singing to yourself every so often. By the time he was finished putting away his clothes, he noticed the sun was beginning to set, and the fact that you hadn’t stepped out of your room since you went to it. You hadn’t had anything to eat since the morning.
He padded over, softly knocking on your door. When he didn’t get a response, he poked his head in. There you were slouched over your desk. Your monitor was off, the lack of activity causing it to go into sleep mode, but the music still played. The classical music that was playing was metaphorically rocking you as you slept.
The hunched-over position would wreck your back.
Taking the pen that was still clasped in your hand, he set it aside before sweeping you up in his arms. The proximity allowed him to notice the faintest difference in your scent.
He felt his cock twitch in his pants, the heat radiating off of you in waves.
Gently without waking you, he laid you down in the middle of your bed and pulled the pink sheets over you. He turned off the lights and shut the door behind him as he exited your room. Your smell followed him throughout the house. As he settled with making a sandwich, refusing to make any noise that would wake you, his mind wandered to thoughts of you.
He pictured coming home to you, your sweet smile and warm eyes welcoming him as he shut the door behind him. He’d learn all your favorite meals, preparing them with nothing but love. Your nights would end wrapped up in each other’s arms and the cycle would go on for the rest of your lives.
He went to bed that night with you on his mind and when he woke up, he looked forward to seeing you at your usual spot at the kitchen table. As quickly as he could, he took a shower and dressed for the day, wanting to spend time with you before the two of you went off to work.
The smile was wiped off his face when he didn’t find you. Instead, a note with your writing on it was there waiting for him.
Morning, Sy :) I’m sorry we couldn’t have breakfast together after your first night here, but they called me into work earlier. To make up for it, dinner’s on me tonight, your choice!
He tucked the note into his wallet behind the receipt from the cafe where you two first met with a smile.
The rest of the day went by in a familiar blur as he had been working for the same company for the last ten years. You were the only thing in his life that he looked forward to. When you asked him what he wanted for dinner, he suggested a place that was closer to your job so that you wouldn’t have to walk too far.
When he arrived at the restaurant, his tie abandoned in his back pocket, he smiled when you waved him over. Though you excitedly showed him all the stuff you had ordered, your eyes showed how tired you were, a faint shadow underlining them.
He made sure you ate enough, placing pieces of meat and seasoned vegetables on your plate. When your cup was empty, he signaled over the waiter asking for a refill. He was allowing you to shut off your brain, taking care of every one of your needs without a second thought.
On your ride home, his hand would come to lay on top of yours at every red light, his thumb caressing your skin with a tenderness one would experience from only a lover.
You clung to his arm as the two of you walked up to the front door, leaning on him as he unlocked it. Allowing you to head in first, he followed after you, softly shutting the door and locking it behind him. Shutting the two of you away from the rest of the world.
Something was happening to you.
First, it was the wave of exhaustion you went through for a few days that you blamed on your period. You expected to feel better now that you had been off your monthly for a couple of days, but then came the hot flashes.
You were hungry all the time, and you had Sylus raising an eyebrow as you ate more than you usually would. He was happy to finally see you eating, commenting that you were getting proper nutrients. This went hand in hand with you being thirsty all the damn time. The amount of fluids you drank had you constantly visiting the bathroom.
You were beginning to worry. Seeking medical advances, you make a tele-health appointment with your primary doctor. Their diagnosis had your mind spinning in circles.
Being in the presence of an alpha, an alpha who wasn’t related to you, had triggered your heat to come early. Your body was responding to its biological needs. It was preparing to mate, to be knotted.
You were mortified. How could you possibly explain to Sylus that you were experiencing this change because you were attracted to him and wanted him to claim you as his mate. The two of you only knew each other for a little over two months. There was no way a bond could’ve formed that fast…right?
Weighing your options, you tried to think of what to tell him as your heat wasn’t aligning with what you had originally explained to him. You had no right to pursue him, especially after how guarded you became when he accidentally made a move on you the day you met.
But he was understanding and he was clearly attracted to you based on his willingness to kiss you after only knowing you for a few hours.
Too bad you wouldn’t have enough time to explain. Your heat was minutes away from consuming you.
With shaky hands, you began creating your safe space as the urge to nest was overtaking you. Once you had everything in place, you tried to figure out what was missing. Opening your closet for more fabric, your eyes zeroed in on the large leather jacket. You had never returned it to him, and he never asked for it back.
Bringing the sleeve up to your nose, you let out a happy chirp as his scent clung to it. You tugged it off the wooden hanger, letting it clatter to the floor as you walked over to your bed. With quick and efficient movements, you undressed and settled into your nest, jacket clenched in your hands as the collar brushed against your nose.
The manly scent of the silver-haired alpha had a wetness pooling between your thighs. You cried as you pressed the fatty flesh up against one another while rocking your hips. The pressure was nice, but not enough. You needed to be filled. For the first time in your life, your fingers wouldn’t be enough.
You needed an alpha to take you, breaking you down to a trembling lump of flesh before nursing you back to health. You needed the man who occupied the room down the hall from you.
You felt ashamed as your fingers slipped between your thighs, picturing it was Sylus’ fingers tracing your clit with soft strokes.
If you only knew the male had spent the last few days stroking his cock in the shower at the idea of you taking his dick like a good girl.
When you managed to cum, calling his name like a prayer, your body gave out and you lulled yourself to sleep. Sylus’ jacket nuzzled against your face.
A few hours later, the said male had made it home. He took note of the porch light being off as you had the habit of turning it on as soon as you got home from work. Were you working late today?
The fact that he didn’t have a notification with your name on it had him growing nervous.
As soon as he stood in front of the door, he was met with his pheromones, only this time, it was saturated with your scent. It caught him off guard, his body reacting to it almost instantaneously. His cock twitched against his thigh and a heat in his belly spread to his groin.
The house was dark and quiet as he hung his coat and tie on the hook by the door, his shoes placed neatly by the door. He glanced at your heels and bag that were thrown haphazardly to the side. Your keys weren’t even in the little bowl you normally placed them in.
His footsteps were faint against the floor as he made his way through the house. As he got closer to your room, his body grew hot, his fingers unbuttoning his shirt unconsciously.
Sylus stood outside your room. With his black slacks hanging low on his hips and his shirt unbuttoned, he felt your scent and warmth sink into his bare skin as he opened the door. Your room smelled of you and the slick spilling from your cunt.
Around you were blankets delicately placed in a manner that resembled a barrier. Mixed into the plethora of fabrics, Sylus managed to notice his leather jacket mixed into the pile, placed beside your head. You lay in the center of the circular-shaped lump, bare as the day you were born, and with your back towards him.
With your bottom on display, his eyes trailed up to the ball of fluff that lay at the base of your spine. Your tail twitched as if sensing his gaze on you yet you remained occupied by the cramps in your lower belly.
He whispered your name, your body curling in on itself at the sound.
“P-please…just leave-leave me be, Sylus.”
He stood at the threshold, refusing to enter your space without your permission.
“You’re in heat.” His eyes held fascination as he watched your cream drip from between your thighs and onto the bed. He couldn’t deny that he was turned on, but his heart broke at your cries. The embarrassment in your voice didn’t slip past him. “I can help you. Let me help you.”
Glancing over your shoulder, your teary eyes met his, knocking the air out of his lungs.
“Sweetie, you don’t have to go through this alone. I’m more than happy to help you. All you need to do is let me in. Invite me into your nest, baby bunny.”
Your resolve cracked. You’ll scold yourself some other time, but right now, you’ll allow yourself to be claimed by the man who has been taking care of you for the last couple of weeks without expecting anything in return.
“Please, alpha…claim me, claim me as yours…wanna be only yours!”
A growl from the wolf hybrid had the bedroom walls shaking from the force and the gummy walls of your cunt quivering in excitement.
He was at the side of the bed in a matter of seconds. The scent coming from your cunt was driving him wild. He knew you’d taste just as good as you smelled, but the need to have you cum in his mouth was his utmost priority.
Grabbing you by the ankle, he tugged you over to the edge and settled you onto all fours as he fell to his knees. Your dripping pussy was at eye level, the string of slick dangling from your gaping hole teasing him.
When he didn’t touch you, your hips pushed back as if searching for him. That earned you an open palm smack against your cunny. The sting traveled to your clit, your eyes squeezing shut in need.
“Sylus, please…I feel all t-tingly, please touch me. Do anything…”
You jolted when another smack was laid against your cunt before a glob of spit landed on your ring of muscle, slowly dripping down to your hole.
With your back to him, it took you by surprise as Sylus lapped at your sloppy folds. The sucking wet sound had you burning from embarrassment, but you couldn’t deny how good it felt.
His tongue was warm and smooth against your skin, the muscle slipping into your awaiting cunt as he brought a thumb to rub small circles on your bundle of nerves.
“You taste like fucking candy, omega.” He said without pulling away from your middle, his words muffled.
Your tail trembled at his praise, your little heart soaring with happiness. You gave him a chirp in response.
Drool spilled out of your mouth and onto your pink sheets. The sticky sensation of it against your cheek would’ve normally bothered you, but you were too focused on the feel of the tongue licking at your core to care.
Your body felt incredibly hot. The overwhelming pleasure had your toes curling and your fingers digging into the mattress. The sound of the alpha slurping up your juices had you rocking against his mouth, earning yourself a pleased hum from the male.
“What’d needy little thing you’ve become, bunny. Letting an apex predator feast on your cunt and cream.”
You nodded even though he couldn’t see you, a chorus of yes’ spilling from your lips.
His hands came up to each ass cheek, spreading them apart as you turned his face side to side. A small stream squirted out of you prematurely, giving Sylus a taste of what was to come.
“Oh, would you look at that. Your virgin cunt knows how to squirt, sweetie. Give me more, wanna be soaked in your juices by the time you cum.”
Your eyes rolled to the back of your head as he did that side-to-side move again, his thumb stimulating your clit at the same time. You felt your stomach flex and your thighs shake as your juices streamed out of you, dripping onto Sylus’s bare chest.
As you caught your breath, Sylus rid himself of the remaining clothes he wore. He tossed them to the side before climbing onto the bed behind you.
You preened as his hand caressed the skin of your back, nudging you forward and onto the middle of the bed. When you looked at him over your shoulder, he leaned down to gently press his lips against yours. The tenderness caught you off guard, but soon relaxed as you accepted it.
“I know it’ll be your first time taking a cock so, I’m gonna need you to relax for me, sweetie.”
“It’s gonna hurt, isn’t it?”
He nodded, his hand brushing along your side to relieve the stress running through you.
“Just at first, but I’ll make it good for you, ‘mega.”
When he lined himself up with your hole, you let out a scared whine. Sylus instantly reacted by shushing you.
Unbeknownst to him, his body released calming pheromones for the first time in his life. An alpha’s biological response when their mate was afraid.
The moment the tip of his dick breached your tight hole, you let out a gasp while Sylus’ groaned at your heat enveloping his length. He made sure to take his time, working himself into you with a gentleness that was surprising coming from a man his size. Once he was completely sheathed inside of you, the two of you felt as though you could finally breathe.
“What a good fucking girl. Taking my cock so well, sweetie.”
He couldn’t fuck you the way he wanted to. He needed to work you open first.
Once he felt your cunt relax around him, he adjusted the grip he had on your hips as his thrusts picked up speed.
A specifically hard jerk of his hips had you falling forward, face sinking directly into the leather that made up Sylus’ jacket. When a chirp fell from your swollen lips, fingers clawing at the material in search of comfort, a growl tore through the male. With a hand pressed against the back of your head, he shoved your face deeper into the fabric.
“That’s a good omega. Suffocate yourself in my scent. Let it be the only thing you know besides my cock that makes you feel good.”
Through the jerky motions, you raised yourself off the bed until you were on your knees. When your back met his chest, his arms came up to wrap themselves around your form. With the jacket clutched against your chest, you turned to Sylus, your lips finding his as he curled himself around you.
His tongue licked every corner of your mouth, unbothered by the collection of drool running down both of your chins.
He was in what he could only describe as the closest thing to heaven. Every one of his senses knew only you. The addictive flavor of your cream filled his mouth. Your light scent buried itself deep within him, bringing him a comfort he hadn’t felt in a while. Every inch of his body longed to be pressed up against you, jealous of his cock that managed to slither its way into your warm cunt.
“Sylus…” You moaned along his lips, eyebrows pinched together from the fulfillment. “You’re gonna make me cum again.”
“Hah shit-you say that like it’s a bad thing, ‘mega.”
Focusing on the growing tingle in the pit of your stomach, you rocked your hips back to match his thrust.
“Gonna cum so hard on your cock, alpha…Please, need it s’bad…”
“Dirty little girl. Who taught you how to speak like that, huh?”
His hand trailed past your pelvis, fingers reaching for the sloppy, wet bundle of nerves hidden beneath your puffy lips. You cried as your clit pulsed with overstimulation, everything feeling heightened. His ministrations didn’t stop. Instead, his fingers and hips sped up.
You came with a shout. Your juices squirted out from around him, wetting his thighs as his seed spilled down yours. The aftershocks of your orgasm ran through your body, lasting a few minutes, your hips twitching. Sylus remained wrapped around you, lips brushing against your bare shoulder.
When your cunt relaxed its hold on him, he pushed himself back onto his knees. He began fucking you open again, he was careful with his thrust but your cunny was growing sore.
A weak hand reached behind you to settle itself on his bare hip. He could feel your nails digging into his flesh, but he didn’t stop.
You were breathless. Your limbs felt like jelly and there was a cramp forming in your back from being arched for so long. Weakly gripping your stained, pink sheets, you tried to move away from the large dick pummeling into your warmth, pushing out his cooling seed and making room for a fresh load. Just as you had managed to cause an inch of Sylus’ dick to slip out of you, a grip on your tail was pulling you back.
“Where do you think you’re goin’? Wanted an alpha’s cock, so fucking take it.”
A chirp left you as the tug on your cotton ball-like tail had a tingle running from your cunt up to your clit. Even your nipples pulsated with need.
“I’m not done with my pretty little bunny and her cute cunny.”
Flipping you onto your back, your world spinning at the sudden change, you welcomed Sylus with open arms as he slipped himself inside you. You relaxed in his hold, taking what he gave you like a good girl.
“Give me one more and I’ll let you rest.”
You did as you were told, your heart filled with delight as he applauded you through your final orgasm. Before you pussy clamped down he shoved his knot passed your tight ring, locking the two of you together. Through battered breaths, he praised you.
“Good girl, bunny. Took your first knot like a fucking champ.”
Once you managed to catch your breath, you glanced at where you were locked together. Curious fingertip brushed the base of Sylus’ cock, causing his hips to buck.
“Inquisitive little thing.” He muttered, leaning down to press his lips against yours before holding you against him as he lay the two of you on your sides. He knew once you cooled down, you’d be cold. Reaching for his leather jacket, he tucked it around you before covering both of you with a fluffy blanket.
You hummed blissfully as you tucked your face against the collar of the jacket, your damp forehead settling on his shoulder.
“How long are we going to stay like this for?” You asked, tightening your leg that curled over his hip.
“It’s our first time so the swelling will go down faster. Each time I knot you, the time we spend locked together will gradually increase. It’s the body’s way of ensuring you end up pregnant. Gonna give you as many kits you want.”
With his hand caressing the bulge in your abdomen, your face burned.
The strain your body had been put through was catching up to you. Your eyelashes started to flutter and your breathing evened out. Sylus held you close as you started to fall asleep, a hand rubbing your back.
“I used to believe I wasn’t very good at taking care of sick people. For the first time in a long time, you’ve given me a reason to believe otherwise.”
