A sturdy, broad hand pulled you from your rare slumber as you stirred softly.
You groaned, desperate to be yanked back into the peaceful serenity you entered. It was rare you got such a good sleep, maybe it was because you were with him. Sam. You smiled softly, nuzzling your face into the pillow as you tried to hold back the cheesy smile of a girl who now had her father. You got lucky. Not only did you discover that your father did care and that he was an amazing person, but he had a brother, your uncle who too was an amazing man.
A deep chuckle sounded, their voice still not quite familiar but soothing no less. Hair strands tickled your cheek, soft, warm breath of your face as they whispered to you.
Your eyes slowly flittered open, a groan escaped your dry, hoarse throat as you rolled over. The blankets hugged your limp form, tucked around you as if someone was trying to keep you warm. Your eyes met deep, warm hazel ones.
“hey’‘You mumbled, your face tinted red as you realized how hard Sam had been trying to get you to wake only for you to mutter and groan at every shake. Sam stifled his chuckle as a growing smile was etched permanently onto his face. He looked down at you, his tall figure looming over you as he watched you cutely try to figure out what was going on.
’'Me and Dea-erm, your uncle, are going to the shops. Did you want anything?’'He asked kindly, his voice soft and sweet as he sat down on the edge of the bumpy mattress and watched you patiently. You blushed still before shaking your head, curling your fingers around the thin sheet and pulling it up to your chest to give you as much warmth as you could muster.
Dean smiled at you from his position behind the old, wooden chair, his nimble fingers brushing over his gun parts as he checked it. ’'You sure, me and your old man can pick you up some- what are girls obsessed with now a days? Chocolate?’'Dean questioned as he looked into the void as if someone would randomly whisper back the answer. Of course this was ironic Dean did this as if someone actually did whisper back then both hunters would be on the edge of the seats with salt and iron in their palms.
’'No, I’m good thanks, Uncle Dean’'You giggled, laughing at his vacant expression as he thought seriously hard on the subject of what girls like. It was nice he was doing that for you. Dean was pulled out of his trance when he heard what you called him, he still couldn’t quite get over it. Dean shuffled, a red rosey tint marking his ears as he mumbled under his breath with a grin.
Sam, who was watching the two of you exchange words, grinned before shaking his head. ’'Okay, we’re gonna lock the door, don’t open it to anyone, don’-”
“Don’t go out by myself, don’t leave and call you if I need too’'You finished, watching Sam turn surprised. ’'You sound like, Mom’'You whispered before frowning. Sam’s brows furrowed as he went to say something but you quickly saw the pity speech rising and so you flashed him a smile and nodded. ’'Go, I’ll be fine”.
Sam nodded and he reluctantly got up. The minute the two Winchesters were out the door was the minute they started bickering about something. You however, decided to lie back down and sleep some more. You still had that ghost of a smile etched onto your lips as you nuzzled into the warm pillow.
A click sounded, your heart jumping as your fingers curled under the pillow that Sam had laid on and smoothed around his knife. Slowly, you sat up. A relieved breath left your face as you let go of the knife and placed your hand on your startled chest.
“Sam, you scared me’'You laughed as you eased out your breathing. ’'Where’s Uncle Dean?’'You questioned, shifting to the edge of the bed when you noticied he was just standing by the door without him. Something finally hit him as he smirked. A shiver danced up your spine as you rubbed your neck but got out of bed nevertheless. You had never seen a smirk on Sam’s face before, it irked you.
’'Oh, he decided to go alone. We had a bit of a disagreement. But everything’s fine’'He chuckled. You nodded, biting your lip as you held back the dozen of questions. Something didn’t feel right, he was acting odd. But you guess you didn’t know him well enough to know how he would behave after a falling out with his brother.
Sam made his way to the table, his eyes scanning over the newspapers that were lazily strung across the desk. He sucked in his bottom lip, holding it captive with his teeth as he crossed his arms. From behind him you could see his back muscles straining against his shirt. You walked towards him, bare feet hiting the floor as you gently tapped his back.
“What!’'He barked, his eased expression now exchanging for a pissed off one as he towered over you, no longer in a comforting way like this morning but now in a frightening way. Your mouth fell open, heart hammering against your battered rib cage as you stumbled back.
’'N-nothing. Sorry’'You coughed, turning around only for a broad hand to grasp your wrist. ’'Owh. Sam…that hurts’'You whimpered, pulling back your arm only for his slender fingers to tighten, leaving a red imprint of his fingers there. You cowered under his gaze, his eyes burning as his pink lips turned upright into a smirk.
’'You ungrateful brat.’'He whispered, his smirk growing wider. Your heart sunk as you shrunk back. ’'I hear you calling him Uncle Dean. Why don’t you call me your dad? Why? Because your ungrateful. That’s why. What? I don’t mean anything to you? How about daddy shows you a little lesson’'he sneered as his large hand wrapped so easily around your tender throat before slamming you into the wall.
You felt the impact on your spine, heard the cracks split up and reach the ceiling as he held you captive with his hand. The air was squeezed selfishly from your throat, your eyes burning, skin growing hotter as silver sparks began to erupt in your vision.
’'I-I’m s-s-sorry’'You wheezed out, tears now falling freely and cascading onto his palm as he sneered at you. His arm shook with how much pressure he was putting into it. You were just about to give in before he slammed you to the floor, your small frame bouncing off the ground as your ribs protested with a white, hot sharp pain.
You curled in on yourself, the booted foot still making it’s way to your ribs as you sobbed, shielding yourself with your hands. You cried because of the pain, you mostly cried because you thought for once in your life, somebody loved you. Turns out, you were wrong again.
Sam knelt down, his long fingers curling in your locks and yanking your head up. Your tear strekked face was inches from his angered one as he looked at you with a burning hatred in his eyes.
Before you could even flinch, Sam dropped to the floor. You screamed, shuffling back and burying your shaking form into the corner. You grasped your bruised knee’s sobbing into your arms as you buried your head into your chest and away from the sight.
You recoiled at that voice. The voice who told you your an ungrateful brat. But he just died… you lifted your bloodshot eyes to see how it was possible, to see if you were imagining things. However, Sam’s hazel orbs were staring back at you with concern and worry. You screamed, batting at him with your fists as he caught them with an 'oof’ when you hit his chest.
“(y/n), (y/n)’'He yelled, trying to stop your hits as he shuffled on his knee’s. ’'hey, hey! It’s okay’'Sam whispered as he ducked his head to avoid your flying fist. You sobbed hysterically, scared of being hit again by someone four times your size.
Sam flashed a panic, helpless look over to Dean who was trying to sort out the body. Dean however could only flash a sympathetic look back as he grabbed the shifters ankles.
You stilled, you don’t know whether it was the sweet nickname that gave you comfort or the tenderness in his voice that proved to you he wasn’t gonna hurt you. You slowly stopped, blinking away the tears in your droopy lashes as you stilled. Sam smiled sadly at you when he caught your eye.
“That wasn’t me. It was a shifter. Dean and I completely forgot. We had a shifter case and then Cas came down here and we got so caught up with you that we forgot’'Sam explained as he hesitantly reached a hand forward. When Sam saw you were gonna freak out, he gingerly tucked back your hair behind your ear before watching you with a fathers worry.
You stuttered to say something as you looked at Sam. ’'I-it really wasn’t you?’'You sniffled. Sam’s face flashed with pain as he smoothed your hair out of your eyes.
’'no, baby, I promise. I’d never do anything to hurt you’'Sam soothed as he waited for your reply.
’'I-I ju-’'You couldn’t finish off your sentence, your limbs throbbing, your heart aching. Sam sighed, sitting back on his knees as he opened his arms.
’'I know, Sweetheart. C'mere’'He eased. You were quick to jump forward, almost pushing Sam back but he caught you and eased you into his arms as he rubbed your back soothingly. He kept saying how sorry he was and how he would never hurt you. You felt foolish for thinking he would.
’'I’m so sorry, Sam. I just- it’s not my first time experiencing this’'You whispered, nuzzling your face into his plaid covered chest as he stilled.
’'Wh-what do you mean?’'He asked with a panicked tone. His fingers cupped your chin as he pulled you away gently and titled your head to look him in his eyes which burned with fear. ”(y/n)?“
You looked down, fingers grasping onto his shirt as you relished in his comfort. ’'My mom wasn’t the best at picking out her boyfriends’'You whispered, your eyes avoiding him. Sam looked up at the ceiling, almost like he was fighting the urge to kill someone. He looked back at you, his eyes filled with worry as the shined slightly. His large palm rubbed your cheek gently where a bruise was now forming.
’'I’d never do anything to hurt you and the fact that someone has even damaged a hair on your head makes me mad beyond belief. I’m not saying I’m the greatest man out there, I’ve made mistakes and I regret some things, but you are none of them. If you’re a mistake then you’re my best mistake’'Sam said as he tried his best to control his emotions.
You looked down as your hair covered your eyes before looking back up at him. ’'So you’re not mad that I call Uncle Dean Uncle and I don’t call you dad…’'You trailed off as you looked at him wearily. Sam frowned as if confused.
’'Sweetheart, you can call me whatever you like. Y-yeah, I would like it if you called me dad, but I’m not mad at you, it’s whatever you’re comfortable w-”
“Wait, you would?’'You interrupted him, looking at him with furrowed brows. Sam chuckled as he nodded. ’'I never called you dad because I thought you didn’t wanna be called that…you know, being knew to fatherhood and all that”
Sam laughed as he shook his head. “Yeah but I think I’m getting the hang of it’'he winked at you, picking you up and placing you on the bed before patting your back. Sam sat down on the edge of the bed as he gave you a warm smile. ’'You want some food. Maybe that’ll help’'he suggested.
You looked at him from the bed as you took a deep breath and nodded.
