Hello all!! This will be the master list for all of my nonsense! I don't normally post updates to Tumblr, but I might start doing it! I'll update this with each fic I add to AO3 and categorize it by series!! I'm also going to add the type (oneshot, multichapter, number of chapters, etc), as well as completion status! I'm also going to include some of the fics I'm currently working on! Thank you so much for expressing interest in my nonsense!! :)
I feel like I just wrote one of the most unironically funny sentences of my fic writing career. Maybe it's shit. Maybe it's not as funny as I think it is, but I felt like sharing XD
“Alright, look!” Scanlan called up the stairs, his tone dripping with performative confidence that Vex was almost certain had earned him at least half of his bedmates. “You might as well just give up! You’re outnumbered, and there’s nowhere to run!”
Fanart for @crabbyquill 's Vox Machina fic; All Our Broken Pieces!!
Tw bruises and implied domestic violence under the cut!
I adored this fic, and especially this scene stood out to me. Because it Is really hard to recognize yourself after abuse. And I've never seen media, fanfic or otherwise, really put this experience in front of me like CrabbyQuill does. Everybody go read all their stuff they're ny favorite Perc'ahlia author :]
That ‘comment on your a03 work’ email hits like a line of cocaine every time. unmatched dopamine increase. shoutout to everyone who leaves a comment on fics. you deserve the world
Anyway Keyleth and Vax are Orpheus and Eurydice coded and Percy and Vex are Hades and Persephone coded :D
YES!! I see that, and you're totally right, but I also raise you...the reverse!
Like, Vaxleth is totally Orpheus and Eurydice coded, but the parallels between them and Hades and Persephone scream at me all the time! Like the two of them being deities/tied to deities of life and death respectively, forced to be together and apart at the whims of fate. Tragic but beautiful all at once.
And then Perc'ahlia...this maybe a little bit of a stretch, but I feel like there's an inkling of Orpheus and Eurydice in them too. The number of times they've defied death or bargained with gods for one another is crazy. Like, Percy begged the Dawnfather for her life during Pelor's trial ("She is my heart, my judgment, and the one I'm betrothed to."-- The way I'm FERAL for this speech), while Vex is the reason he came back to life after dying on Glintshore. They've conquered death so many times for the other, and have helped shape the way they've seen the world; even if they're both a little more jaded, they've made one another more hopeful, happy, and healthy, just the way Orpheus and Eurydice, at least in the context of the musical, have made one another. They've helped bring one another back from certain death and darkness that would otherwise be eternal, and I find something absolutely beautiful in that. The major difference is that these two get their happy ending, while Orpheus and Eurydice are doomed by the narrative (which unfortunately makes them aligned with Vaxleth just a little more)
Honestly, both pairs of these couples can be reflected in Vaxleth and Perc'ahlia, and my former-theater kid, Hadestown-loving, feral self is here for it.
Do you think it's worth starting a long fic/AU if you're not sure you'll be able to finish it?
(Asking for advice!)
Honestly, I think it is.
I’ve grappled with this question myself when I start fics and don’t finish them. Most of the time if I start something and post it I try to finish it (or put it on hiatus while I try to regroup), but even putting an idea to a document is fulfilling in its own way. In my mind, writing whatever fics you want to see is entirely up to you and even if it’s a half baked idea it’s still an idea that you deserve to explore if you want to!
