George got pole for exactly the reasons people were making fun of him. He knows the rulebook inside and out, so he knew he only had to lift for a single yellow. Kimi didn’t and abandoned his lap. Even if he hadn’t, he said himself in his interview that he didn’t think he would’ve beaten George to pole anyway. And people calling it a “fake pole” annoy me to no end, especially after the stewards confirmed everything was legal and even Vasseur said there would be no further investigation.
