Digging through the files for baby bimmy videosā¦. He was so skrunkly
hey guys remember when you were in school and you saw how adults treated you and your peers and you thought "man. when i grow up i'd never do this. i will never be the annoying old asshole talking about how different it was when i was a kid, when i clearly grew up in a different time. i will never blame the kids for things they can't control." do you remember that? haha me too. anyways can you guys stop making fun of "ipad babies" and start seeing children as people
ipad babies is perhaps the worst example you couldve picked for this otherwise extremely valid point, and it actively diminishes the message.
children are people and I'm sick of adults pretending they don't deserve to be treated as such, but they also don't know a lot and its our responsibility to teach them. the world wide web in a kids face is actively harming them, and i know this both first and second hand.
i had unrestricted acess to the internet when i was young, and started doing nsfw roleplay when i was like 10.
a friend at the time had semi-restricted acess to the internet, and kept talking to 30yos on discord, because it's easy as hell to hide.
another kid i know right now has heavily restricted access, and the adults in charge keep having to filter out content on YouTube Kids due to disgusting amounts of not-so-subtle sex jokes.
The internet has not, is not, and will not ever be safe for young kids, and any portable device which can use a search engine (even if you think you disabled it) is not safe to give to anyone in elementary.
im not saying to ban everyone under a certain age, or to stop having kid friendly sites, but i am saying that an ipad or phone or whathaveit is not okay. there needs to be a stationary device in it's own space like a family computer, or they need to physically not have the device when they're not in a public room.
the Internet is a knife: it's beautiful, it's a tool, it's a great achievement of humanity, and you absolutely need to be taught how to use it if you want to survive, but until you know how you cannot be trusted with it without someone standing over your shoulder, or else someone (you, most likely,) is gonna get hurt
okay i've gotten a couple well meaning essays from people, so i figured i'll just do a quick response:
i am not saying ipad babies aren't an issue. i am not saying that i think shoving your phone in front in front of your kid instead of doing any actual parenting is - in any way - a productive or positive way to do it.
i used ipad babies as an example because that's what i see my coworkers in the childcare industry talk about the most, and it's something that bothers me a lot. i am not saying ipad babies are good or even fine: i am saying it's not the kid's fault.
i'm not saying "don't criticize ipads as a way of parenting" i'm more trying to say "don't blame the kids for their parents failing to raise them" okay?
i could definitely beat the shit out of master chief seeing as i'm a lesbian and he's not a lesbian
calling a mutual by their name and having to check you're right like omg what if they transitioned and changed their name in the twelve hours since i last saw them on my dash
this summer i recommend shower wipes or body wipes to people who struggle with hygiene due to disability, mental or physical. yes i know it produces unnecessary waste. yes thereās the argument of āif you buy the wipes then youāll never shower,ā but chances are most people who are struggling would Not Have Showered with or without access to wipes. i know it isnt a full shower but wiping yourself down can make a big difference in how you feel!!
along these lines you can think about buying mouthwash and getting any kind of friction at all on your teeth when itās too hard to brush fully, dry shampoo if itāll help keep your hair less oily when washing your hair is overwhelming, etc. you deserve easier ways to care for yourself and feel clean. also remember you are not a failure for struggling with hygiene even if society tells you otherwise!

pedestrians don't seem to realize how exhausting using a wheelchair is, both manual and powered. i had to wheel around a hospital today with several ramps i had to go up and down multiple times, and even with my smoov i ended up with shoulder and chest pain and deep exhaustion.
people look at wheelchair users and think "well you're sitting down all the time that doesn't take effort" no actually it does. pushing a manual chair takes a lot of fucking effort, especially without a power assist. repetitive stress injuries are a huge problem manual chair users encounter all the time. going up hills and ramps is so deeply fatiguing.
this doesn't just apply to manual chair users btw. power chair usage can also be really exhausting, especially for people with complex seating needs. going over bumps and cracks can trigger many symptoms such as spasticity, pressure sores are common, even just sitting upright can be exhausting for many people.
basically don't assume using a wheelchair takes 0 effort, it really really does. getting to "sit down all the time" doesn't mean it's easy.
Re: sailors on USS Abraham Lincoln on half rations.
"these overconsumption products shouldn't exist!! nobody needs them!! do it yourself!!!" *look inside and it's a disability aid marketed for mass casual use to make it more accessible*
You now have to exclusively go by your tumblr url instead of your name. How fucked are you?
This would go horribly for me, socially
Not perfect but I'd manage
Close to my name already/no issue
This would be an absolute win for me
Does it count as 'sword in the stone' if it looks more like 'sword in the cairn'...?
final mental illness musing of the night but as you all know, iāve suffered from an extremely severe case of depression since i was a toddler. and one of the most infuriating things about growing up this way was how many adults seem to just not understand that children can be depressed. sure, you may associate depression with teen years, but there are plenty of kids 12 and under who are deeply, deeply depressed and itās just completely overlooked. When I talk about how early my suicidal behaviors started, people go āwow! i had no idea that it could start so young?ā but i have several friends who were also depressed as kids and i donāt think itās that uncommon. i mean, bullying is frequent in childrenās lives and yet you donāt think an 8 year old can get suicidal? It all goes back to people not seeing children as people, of course. Considering them not capable of complex emotions. I just feel for all the kids who go untreated because their parents havenāt stopped to think if theres a reason why their kid spends all their time in their room.
man sometimes friendship really is just "I saw this and knew it would give you psychic damage. please respond with agony" and then they do. and it's great
i wanna say "they should be allowed to kill people" about my favorite characters except the issue is that many of them either fall into:
Being nonviolent is an important part of their character, and while it's interesting to ponder what could drive them to feel vindication or relief through violence, them doing so can't truly be construed as a positive development
or
They already do kill people, in fact it is their hobby and passion
