he’s such a disturbance
I like how fucked up and loud his climbing is, really adds a certain nasty feeling that he normally evokes
yes, every neighbour who is spied on first hears a CLUNK. CLANK. CLUNK as he climbs into position. and then they look over, and see his fat pink belly and staring eyes. definitely an experience.
the internet is a place for reading wikipedia articles and watching every movie for free. social media is an invasive species. never forget this
one idea/image i'm fond of is a marksman-type living weapon hunting for food. like, on missions in the field, or during a wilderness survival arc after escaping/being rescued. maybe they learned to hunt and prepare game before the whump, maybe they picked it up at some point on a mission, or maybe they've never hunted before in their life, but they and their allies are hungry, and they're superhumanly Good At Guns, so, may as well...
POV: you've just finished setting up camp and the strong-and-silent guy whom you've literally never heard speak and almost never seen act without a direct order wanders off into the forest and comes back with a rabbit. hey, thanks, man! i didn't know you could do that!
plus, every level of living weapon culinary skill has potential. no knowledge of/interest in cooking beyond "tear it into chunks and heat them until they stop bleeding"? nice. surprisingly good at cooking? nice. surprisingly opinionated about cooking? hell yeah. let's coax you out of your shell with the power of Grill.
like they've got a gun and a knife and the means to make a fire. let them have fun. and assert their ability to feed themself thereby covering one of their own basic needs and feeling safer. and feed their allies thereby turning the destructive skills that were forced upon them into something with a constructive side. And surprise said allies with Surprise Rabbit
i'm kind of fond of them having learned on a previous mission... assigned to a team that are still whumpers but mostly indifferent to them, rations are running low and the team is talking abt hunting to supplement them and then someone points out that they literally have Super Gun. just make this guy do it. "yeah Handler, use your gun lol" and they do. so LW kind of gets coached through hunting by means of orders and then watches them clean and prepare the meat. maybe someone specifically shows LW how to do that so they can offload it to them in the future. which LW is fine with, it's a useful skill and it's far from the worst thing teams have ordered them to do while idle.
The Muppet Show (1976-1981)
I hate how people call it a ‘gender war’ like gender-based violence doesn’t primarily go in one direction and there aren’t incels with podcasts saying that the 19th Amendment should be overturned. There has never been a Gamergate for women, there has yet to be a female Elliot Rodger. This is not a war. Women are occasionally lobbing unfriendly comments at men and men are detonating nuclear bombs on them. And there is a definite reason that women today are outspoken about being disillusioned by and disgusted with their male peers and committed to decentering men in their lives and it isn’t because all these women are radical misandrists who do not see men as human. Gender war makes it seem like a petty squabble with two offensives and not women realizing that many of their male peers genuinely hate them.
*TERFs, I sincerely hope you shit yourself in a public place, go fuck yourself and do not touch my post. This post is not for you.
The early 2010s millennial hope of a better more progressive future contrasted with the sharp traditionalist alt-right U-turn that so many Gen Z and millennial men went down scarred generations of women.
i hate when a book describes a pause as pregnant. get your dick out of the pause
terry pratchett is the only person who actually knew how to use a pregnant pause
Please return us to a world where Notp and squick are used for a ship you don’t like instead of just making up a load of bullshit about how immoral it is or w/e lol
a short selection of concepts and phrases that used to be commonplace in fandom and we’d really benefit from making that a thing again:
NOTP: the opposite of an OTP (One True Pairing). It is a ship a fan strongly dislikes. The word is a portmanteau of ‘no’ and ‘OTP’ and thus is not a contraction of any particular phrase.
Squick: anything that is a deep-seated, visceral turn-off. Squicks may be shared by many fans or be specific to one; one person’s kink may be another person’s squick.
YKINMKATO, or kink-tomato: Your Kink Is Not My Kink, And That’s Okay: used to indicate support for fannish diversity and to distinguish between disapproval or kink shaming and simply having different taste.
DLDR: Don’t Like, Don’t Read: a phrase used to warn against complaints about an aspect of fic or meta. A “live and let live” philosophy of fandom, which places the responsability for avoiding content one doesn’t want to see on the side of the fanwork consumer, rather that on the creator’s.
SALS: Ship And Let Ship: similar to the above specifically about shipping tastes.
YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary: a phrase used to acknowledge that any given individual’s personal opinion on the topic at hand may differ due to their own tastes, standards, values, experiences, etc.
As the OP points out, all of these crucially imply no moral judgment of what they’re designing.
(definitions lifted more or less wholesale from fanlore’s relevant pages)
bring the healthy fun back to fandom!
can't believe that a Kennedy is promoting saturated fats. the only type of meat I'm gonna consume daily is Nixon's.

...I don't know... I've had bad experiences with British men in the past...
James bond is not british, his pfp is sean connery who was scottish, hope this helps!
Oh! Well, in that case, hell yeah! Have fun with your new Scottish friend, Jack! Just be sure to pack some antibiotics and keep on taking that PrEP I gave you just in case things get a little too...fun!
fuuuuuuck💔💔💔
community notes are so brutal. tumblr needs to add that feature to escalate our pvp capabilities
No the person who tweeted this made me laugh so hard the other day bc people were trying to correct them and they edited their shadow on picsart to keep the bit going
Adding “Tiktok Mary Poppins cosplayer respond to allegations that he was wearing a Third Reich medal in his latest fit by coming out as the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler complete with past life memories before his entire social media prescence was nuked with the sole exception of their egg-laying kink spotify playlists” to the internet sentences treasure vault. Amid all the societal decay we still got it boys.
you really can reach a point with transgender enlightenment wherein you can attribute any bodily feature silhouette and detail to any gender regardless of typical cisgender aesthetic connotations. anything can be a man's body if the person in it is a man. anything can be a woman's body if the person in it is a woman. anything can be a genderless body if the person in it is genderless. and so on. the only thing that matters is the personhood within and whether you are willing to look and know and see it. open your eyes. keep trying until you no longer flinch or turn away in shame or anger or confusion.
thought this post was appropriate
A lot of people are ragging on the 'cable diverted to avoid Dobby's grave after Harry Potter fans raise a stink' thing and while I also love ragging on Harry Potter fans being weird, in this case it looks like the story was completely made up.
tl;dr: There's no evidence the interview that this was mentioned in even exists, no evidence the route of the cable has ever changed, and the whole story seems to originate from one dude's podcast.
The story also broke into mainstream via the Daily Mail, who are ... rarely if ever honest or accurate.
hi teaboot. anon with four siblings who moved out here. i am...the lowest ive ever been. i thought it was suppose to get better now? but im shing and so apathetic to everything. my siblings were fine, my parents pulled it together when I threatened them with police. but. i don't understand why its *now* im depressed
Not a word of a lie, this happened to me too! And I promise I am not bullshitting you when I say that this is normal and expected and EXTREMELY common.
The thing is, you've been in Survival Mode for a while. Probably a long time. And now your itty bitty lizard brain- the part that's been been clocking in overtime hours to sense and predict danger and mitigate crisis scenarios and plan escape routes and secure resources and so on- is no longer single-handedly keeping everything running by itself.
That bit of your brain has been working non-freaking-stop every waking minute for however long you've been in whatever clusterfuck you got out of, and it is now miraculously on its first ever vacation.
It's burnt out. It's exhausted. And now that it isn't running the show, the rest of your brain is scrambling to figure out how to make things work.
You're not in active danger anymore, so lizard-brain CAN take a rest without everything burning down, but... what now?
Emotional Brain has been helping carry Lizard Brain's load, but now it has a shitload of paperwork to catch up on. Like, YEARS of mismanaged backlog that it's just been jamming out of order into filing cabinets and spare storage boxes to deal with later.
Desires Brain has been keeping up with "food" and "don't die", but.... it HAS those now. So... what else could it possibly want? Everything? Nothing? What even IS desirable beyond survival? Goals Brain needs an answer before it can generate motivation. Fear Brain, too. Also Action Brain, and Motivation Brain.
So you're not being piloted by Lizard Brain anymore. That's good! "Keep Human Functioning Constantly Forever" was NOT in Lizard Brain's job description. But now that it's let go of the reins, the rest of Team Brain is going to need some time to figure out how to do their actual jobs the way they're supposed to, and they are WAY behind.
So my best advice is to let them adjust. Rest. Keep things simple. Help them out by establishing a regular routine- home life, work life, regular meals, regular showers, regular sleep.
Once that routine is established, you can ease of the training wheels by trying new things, new foods, new places, new people.
Help Desires Brain by experimenting, figuring out what makes you happier and what doesn't. What kind of fabrics you like, what kind of tastes you enjoy, what kind of work is pleasant and what is merely tolerable. How you enjoy being treated and what boundaries you'd prefer to maintain.
Help Emotions Brain by taking your time with strong feelings as they happen. Pause, consider how you feel, where those feelings live in your body, what physical sensations come with them. When those sensations appear, do they correspond to feelings? When? Why? Are they rational? How do you want to handle them?
Develop goals and plans from these findings. Once "tomorrow" or "next week" aren't an incomprehensible void, let yourself imagine a "next month", a "next season", a "next year".
Make stuff for fun. Save up to buy things that improve your daily life. Decide what kind of places you like to visit and when. What relaxation looks like, what self-care looks like, what a good friend or partner or coworker is.
You probably feel pretty shitty right now. You're probably going to be detached, or numb, or low, or even depressed, panicked, scared, or empty.
But eventually- once Team Brain starts to get a handle on things- the Empty and Dead will be less. New stuff will appear, like Angry and Sad and Joyous.
You're gonna Want things again, and be Excited again, and Look Forwards To things again.
It's gonna take time, though, and work, and it's definitely gonna suck sometimes, especially on days where it seems like you've gone backwards, or like you haven't moved at all.
It's not forever, though. It may SEEM like it, or like nothing else is even possible, but it isn't. I've got no damn reason to lie about that. I've been there, too.
It sucks right now. Might suck tomorrow, too. But eventually it won't. You're going to be happy, and safe, and you're going to enjoy your life and feel all kinds of love and joy and wonder again.
You're going to be okay.
It sucks right now. But you're going to be okay
This time I'm really gonna fucking do it*
*clean out the oldass canned shit that's been sitting in the pantry for literal years because sometimes there really isn't any food and so throwing anything out that's still unopened is basically the eighth deadly biblical sin but honest hand to god that shit is never getting eaten
Ruh-Roh Raggy
Hey. Hey not to make a jokepost deep but some of this shit was in my go-bag from before I moved out of my parent's house.
I first packed it up in ziplock freezer bags along with matches and a tarp n other junk in case shit went south and I needed to lay low in the woods a couple days.
And now I'm an adult, living in my own apartment, paying my own rent with my own career in a job I enjoy, with my own towels and plates and shampoo I bought because I like the smell.
Shit gets good out here
