From my JWCT fanfiction story Make Room in Your Heart - Chapter: Mothervoices (An excerpt from a phone call between Gia and Ben’s mother) “You know, Benjamin is my only son.. He truly means everything to me.” There's so much affection in her voice.. “When he was little, Benjamin was fearful, shy. My employer at the time recommended this camp. I only wanted the best for my chaviv, but what that camp would end up meaning for him.. I didn’t know.” Her breathing stumbled against my ear. “They told me it was a place where he would learn to be braver. I.. I wanted him to become strong. I.." Her voice trembled. "I didn’t know what it would really do to him.” As the curious girl I am - I need to know more.. “May I ask… who was your employer?” I heard the sharp intake of breath. “I worked for Simon Masrani, until he died in a helicopter crash..” Something isn’t right. I can feel it.. “For Masrani.. didn’t he know those creatures were dangerous?” I press the phone closer to my ear. “He trusted his people. The security systems were the newest on the market.. well, and.. I trusted him.” His name stirs a soft anger inside me. “And did he know Ben.. and how sensitive he is? That he gets panic attacks at night? That he..” My throat tightens. I hear her quietly crying. “I.. helped Mr. Masrani with something.. with important declarations he didn’t want to entrust to just anyone.. I.. I couldn't say no.” Her breath quivers.  

“He was so grateful. It began with a question: ‘Ms. Pincus… your son is a curious boy, isn’t he?’ He wanted to.. repay me. Do something good for us.” Her voice breaks into tears. “I would've never done this to my boy.. my son never asked for it.” Il mio cuore soffre per lei.. My heart aches for her.
