ive been reading byler fanfic since season 2 first came out so the byler tag surpassing steddie is so crazy for me. there was a point where i never thought they would surpass harringrove. we’ve all made it through some crazy times to get to get to byler being the top stranger things ship on ao3 but im so glad

before the first great byler surge of 2022 that happened when stranger things 4 vol 1 released (4years ago), there were only 1,894 fics in the byler tag on ao3

between seasons 3 and 4 there were only about 1000 new byler fics published

but between seasons 4 and 5, we hit double digits and there were over 10,000 new fics published in the 3 year gap

and then season 5 was released. and between the first vol of season 5 releasing and now (6 months later) there have been 23,404 new fics. im in disbelief. byler fans are truly incredible and no matter what happened in the show, this is a crazy legacy to have

over 20,000 new fics in 6 months. i never thought we would see the day byler dethroned harringrove and then i never thought we would see the day it surpassed steddie. this is so incredible i love byler fans forever and ever
