A place for my art

Just so I don't have to keep it on my main or other side blogs. This also serves as a place to back up my art in case something ever happens to my sketchbooks etc. 21+

I picked up some 11" x 17" paper recently with the intent of using it for my practice comic. This is, perhaps, the most intimidated I've felt by a blank page in a while. My personal projects rarely get out of the planning stages, so actually setting my pencil to this page will be a big step.

There's also some fan art I want to do this week for Valentines day, so that may turn into a diversion from this...

I'm thinking of using one of my old OCs for a short comic, and I know I've drawn them before, but I can't seem to find the sketch I have in mind for some dumb reason. I redraw them, but I think the vibe is off

I painted this for my mom for Christmas - I still need to spray it 16th an acrylic sealer. She's not on Tumblr, so I feel safe posting this here

Today I learned that Pigma also makes brush pens, so there's likely going to be more pen experiments in my future. While I rather like the cheap brush pen I got from Daiso, I do find it kind of hard to get fine lines out of and trying a different brush pen may be worth it. I'm one of those people who tends to use too much pressure when I draw, so. I'll admit that I'm not entirely sure that brush pens will be for me in the end.

Sometimes, my superhero brain rot takes the form of bad fan art. Dae Clawson here is a D&D character concept that I've been kicking around for a while now that is heavily inspired by Dick Grayson. I do think there are plenty of other ways to do a D&D based off of him, but a tabaxi way of mercy monk just sounded like fun to me

I picked up a brush pen at Daiso recently and decided to try drawing Starfire with it for fun as I'm getting used to it. It could be better, but I still kind of like it. I think I'm going to like using this brush pen once I get used to it and get a better feel for when the lines should be thin. I admit that I did a very basic under drawing using a 5h pencil, but I didn't put all the details in before swapping to the brush pen, and this drawing may have benefitted from some extra guidelines

This was fun, although I'd probably do well to not attempt something as complex as the Odyssey outfit again until I get better at art, but knowing me that's unlikely to stop me from trying. This took me roughly two and a half hours to complete in a single sitting and I can't help but wonder how long this sort of thing takes the pros to complete, but I'm guessing that they're likely faster at it than me. I might try and color this later just for the fun of it
