Attention Techblr, Theatre Nerds and Other People that Appreciate the Arts
TL:DR The arts programs at my high school are getting cut and a very important teacher is getting laid off and we need your help to keep her
So yesterday many other students and I were informed that our beloved choir teacher received an involuntary transfer notice due to lower enrollment and budget constraints.
As many of you know there is a major lack of funding for the arts programs throughout many schools in the country and she might as well be called the core of the performing arts at our school. Not only is she the choir teacher, but she is also the Piano, Guitar, AP Music Theory, and IB Music Theory teacher, as well as the vocal and pit orchestra director.
Even though you have never had her as a teacher yourself she has had a huge impact on the drama club, from helping with vocals, to being the pit orchestra director, to even performing onstage as Chef Louis in an actor’s absence. (It’s a long story).
Losing her would literally mean losing half of our schools music department as well as half the drama department and will set these programs back years.
One of my friends started a petition to try to keep her and I am asking you all to please share it and possibly consider signing it. We would not be the same program without her.
I am writing this to try and reach as many people as I can. Please, even though you do not know who this teacher is please reblog this. It would mean the world to me, our teacher, and the other members of the school’s community. By doing this you will help show people that the arts is an important part of education. No matter what happens we are not giving up without our voices being heard.
Thank you for your cooperation

I just got some of the worst news I've heard in months, expect a long post explaining what happened tomorrow (once I collect all of my thoughts)
Sorry for not being active but I've been busy with my productions and I'm currently doing my last show for my high school. I can't believe the season will be over in April
I'm glad I'm graduating High School this year
I never want to work with high school students ever again
Not theatre related but-
I just want to say that making a required music video in a week for a class is not fun and I never want to do it again

Stage Manager: Nine thirty. Most of the lights are out. No, theres Consable Warren putting his newspapers to bed.
Mr. Webb: Good morning Bill.
Constable Warren: Good morning Mr. Webb.
Mr. Webb: Quite a moon.
Serious question- what’s worse to clean up, sawdust or glitter?
Glitter.
Sawdust is a necessary evil. It is the natural byproduct of creation. And it smells nice. We accept sawdust’s need to exist.
Glitter is an unnecessary evil. We never chose glitter. It was imposed on us by the whims of some director or designer. It is the obstinate reminder of a malefaction. It is incurable and should be appropriately feared. I think in part we fear that its longevity exceeds our own. At the end of days, once humanity has scrubbed itself from the world, when no creature remains to speak of our legacy, it will be there, glinting in the light of the dying sun on the back of some oblivious periplaneta, taunting us for our hubris and impermenance. Plus it can get in your eye and really really hurt.
Sometimes in tech theatre you use gaff tape as a bandaid. That’s just how it is.

SM Advisor: So, how’s the show going?
SM: none of the people are doing the things i ask them to do
sorry, i just saw your post about condoms and mics?? can you explain how that works to me? i'm not sure if my school does it, but i am also the costume techie so they could and i wouldn't know lol
Oh wow I haven't been on this blog in a while and you have probably found your answer but we use condoms (non lubricated of course) on the mic battery packs to protect them from sweat. (Costumes can be very hot sometimes)
“I told you to know your lines. Do you know your lines?” “You and I both know the answer to that”
I have probably reblogged this before, but it’s always relevant.
Hello Theatre Friends!
I am trying to reach out to the furthest corners of our little Techblr community and want to get to know you all! Please reblog this post if you are studying, working in, or even are interested in Technical Theatre! I haven’t seen one of these posts for a while so I want to make sure that I am following any of you who share my love for the theatre. Spread this post around, friends! Let’s find each other! :)
Oh boy tomorrow is the Off Book date
I can't wait to read out the entire script for the actors
