crucial thing about alyosha is while he's extremely kind, intellegent, likeable, and determined, he is at his core a boyfailure.

like im sorry hes not traditionally sucessful, he's dropping out of highschool and living in girl, interrupted depressed closeted rich person purgatory for like three years and getting a middle school teacher job he's underqualified for but great at through luck, which he holds for like five years before having a messy divorce he never really gets over his religious guilt about, coming out as gay, learning how to make spaghetti, and moving across the country with his sucessful careerist situationship who insists theyre just fucking in that order.

has a limp (should really use a cane but doesn't because he never really considered it)

looks alternately at different eyes while someone is speaking to him (like first left, then right and so fourth rapidly- like in the 2003 adaptation)

does the smile thing

always has his hands together folded in front of him

talks either very jerkily - considering carefully what word to say next -or complete word vomit where it is almost like he doesn't even know what word will come out of his mouth next

is prone to burying his face in his hands

frolics in grassy areas

yawns frequently

paces as soon as he is alone (also does it when in the aforementioned word vomit state but especially when he is alone) even though it is painful for him
