my weakness is probably grammar. i don't know where punctuation TRULY needs to be at, it's all a vibe, both visually and auditorily (is this a real word? it is now)

also, i could stand to learn more words. i think i need to make that one of my goals. just read a dictionary, use some words i don't know, try to make messes on purpose

but i have been told i'm good at characterization, which makes me really happy! personally, i think i can be funny sometimes too and i've had a 50-50 positive reaction rate, so maybe i am...sometimes funny 🤭 - said every dad with a bad joke!

Hahah, when am I NOT in writer's block mode? I feel like i'm not like most writers. i don't have unfinished wips. Kind of. the only unfinished wips i have are the fics i published and never finished T-T but in my drafts? nothing.

But then, I also gave up having a TBR like 3 years ago? idk why i'm bringing this up, it just feels kind of relevant.

Right now I've technically been on "hiatus" for like...half a year? Maybe a bit more...

"How do i get through it?" - I don't let it bother me, mostly.

I've kind of accepted that having writer's block isn't a bad thing. It would be if it were my job, but i do this for fun, so i try not to let it bother me (OH! but it sometimes does bother me because i'll see an event i'll really REALLY want to join but i can't squeeze anything out and then i'm just a puddle of CRYING REGRET, LOL)

But i've found doing research or leaving my hermit life really gives me inspiration. Touching real grass really is life-changing

I think time is the best way i've "taken care of myself". I've been sharing my work for years. I started on ff.net and if you were ever there, you know people were NOT nice. people would even put "no flaming" on their descriptions RIP.

But I wanna say I've been generally lucky and I haven't had any terrible experiences?? Tho I have had bad or sus comments. It usually takes me a while to answer some of those because I sometimes can't tell what the commenter meant. Sometimes I'm like "what do you mean" and they'll be nice and explain things, but other times (if the comment is obviously mean) I just delete the comment.

I used to not do this, but I think it saves me the trouble of "re-living" a bad experience, since I do go back and reread my fics and comments sometimes. To get a bit of a boost <3

So yeah, I think I'd say don't be afraid to curate your space.

OH! Joining positive communities always helps too. I'm not in many servers, but the few I'm in are full of some fun fandom people <3

❓Can't add your fic to our collection? [Help is Here!]

We received a lot of messages from writers who couldn't add their fics to our event collection, so we've decided to make a general guide for everyone.

This is advice for ANY collection you might be having trouble with

This is generally the view you see when you look at a collection PROFILE. Each collection has what we like to call a collection "ID". We've gone ahead and highlighted it below. This can also be found at the end of a link event mods may share with you (like we did!).

Please copy this ID

Now, when choosing "post to collection" this ID is automatically added to your new story, but when adding pre-existing fics to collections, you have two options.

One, you can type in the collection name. The problem here is that the collection you're looking for doesn't always show up (we're not sure why). As you can see, even Mod Crimson can't add their fic to the collection in this way.

So we always recommend, copy-pasting the collection ID.

When you copy-paste the ID, you don't need to wait for the collection to appear (if you do, you might end up with a no suggestions found message. Ignore it).

Last, hit enter and BOOM, you're all done.

Save your fic and we'll go ahead and approve the request.

If this doesn't help, we recommend going to your profile settings (preferences tab) and making sure you have "Allow others to invite my works to collections" so that a collection mod can manually request your fic be added to the event collection you're trying to post to.

I haven't been doing as many new things as i would have liked!! work has been kicking my butt so not much time for writing (unless!! *opens empty doc now**). bueno, al menos de que cuenten mi contenido en espanol. he escrito mas y ahora estoy leyendo un libro en espanol tambien. con mis ojitos. ya no me cuesta igual que antes y me se mas palabras tambien!!

i also have very slowly started singing with friends. i still get nervous and just DONT, but i'm constantly surprised by how fun it is to have supportive and considerate irls, i love them!!

Omg I still cringe thinking back to some of the comments I've left, but I like to think I've grown in the last 10+ years (if I haven't, tell me, i don't want to make anyone sad!!). I'm still learning and will likely continue to keep learning for a long time💚

The biggest thing I've learned is to treasure what's out there. And to say if we liked it, don't just assume. A small hello, a "this was great" or something much much longer is so healing.

At least, I know I always get all doki-doki whenever I see a comment ANY kind of positive comment like ok I'm not the only one on the ocean floor, eating yaoi crumbs 🥹🤪

My "origins" are actually not so much in fandom, but in the blogging circle, which IS fandom, but I feel like anime bloggers and fanwriters/artists don't always overlap. And I started blogging 10+ years ago. I've had a SUPER GOOD experience with all my blogger friends and I think that really built a foundation for my weeb online life, which really kicked off only after I was blogging for maybe 2 or 3 years??

How to play:

1. download the stamp sheet you like the best. write your name where it says: "this order is for". 2. read fics, share fics, and leave comments during the FESTA runtime (from May to June). optional: share your progress in a post here in our community, and/or on Bluesky. use our tags #fanfictionfesta and/or #FESTArally 3. when you've completed an achievement, go to the Dreamwidth Stamp Station and ask for your stamp (for example: i've left four comments, or i'd like to get the 4 comments stamp*AND include your image link) 4. repeat the process as many times as you want (or are able to)

Stamp designs are always locked when the FESTA begins.

This round, we have 17 stamps and 5 locked "levels". Mods will unlock them depending on how we advance as a community. If the stamp has a heart, that means it's available with Spanish text (unique to this round!). These stamps must be requested when you want your stamp card stamped, and can only be stamped on the third stamp card listed.

We'd also like to remind everyone that things can change, but for now this is our final stamp and achievement list!

We have been slowly revealing our Bingo sheets over on Bluesky, and now they're all live!

 WHAT BINGO CARD(S) WILL YOU TRY TO CLEAR?

💚 First up is our SPRING themed card!

This card is good for anyone who wants to read fics that are generally Spring-related. We also have a few May holiday inspired prompts, such as sharing a fic that's in Spanish (5 de Mayo) and commenting on a fic with a dragon (Japanese Children's Day).

🌸 Next is our FLOWERS themed card, designed by one of our new mods Nielle!

This card is good for anyone who wants to read fics that focus more on the use of flowers and adjacent themes like pollen, bee "stings", and flowery scents.

🌻 Next is our RENEWAL themed card!

May is Mental Health Awareness month, so we've decided to have one of our bingo sheets focus on themes like anxiety and angst, but also things that help improve our moods, such as celebrations, found family, and people we trust!

🌱 And our last card is focused on NEW BLOOM, also designed by mod Nielle! This card is good for anyone who wants to help smaller fics and smaller fandoms, with no theme restrictions, get the love they deserve! Yes, this is where we started two rounds ago and we're making sure we always bring this bingo sheet back.

using AO3's random tag function, read a fic with an obscure tag: go to AO3 and browse by tag. At the top of the page you should see the "random" button. Try your hand at one of the smaller tags that are generated!

As always, many of our prompts are open to interpretation, but if you'd like some more ideas on where to take a prompt, let us know in the comments 🌻
