And if I show you my dark side, will you still hold me tonight? And if I open my heart to you and show you my weak side, what would you do?

"What's the matter?"
Your muse notices how my muse has been pretty quiet for a while. Send me “What’s the matter?” for my characters reaction
“The matter?” Cole turned his head curiously, looking for all the world like a floppy-eared puppy with his silly hat. “Oh, nothing. The stars are very bright.”
~
Athenyla kept her gaze downcast, she didn’t know how to fix such a situation either but usually when something is empty you fill it with other things. For her that was the new friends that she made.
She did not feel good after confessing. She felt– almost sick, as well as tired, and cold. It was not like her to share such a thing, or get upset. Life was too short to be upset, after all, here she was a free woman with pay and a cause to fight for.
“Thank you Cole.” Athenyla matched his gaze. “I suppose that I should return to my bed now.”
“You do have friends. But it’s alright to still be sad sometimes.” Cole offered a small smile, knowing such a gesture was meant to bring comfort. “Sleep will help.” He didn’t know any other way to help, so he looked away, feeling more than slightly useless.
“Should I walk you to your room?”
"I would like that very much.." Athenyla returned Cole's smile, the sight of it helped her feel better, only slightly. Regardless of what she said, she did not make any movement to get up. A part of her was enjoying the small moment they were sharing. It was calming and warm to lean against the blonde beneath the shelter of the wool blanket, and the night was so peaceful. No sounds but the low whistle of the wind and their voices.
A second factor was the exhaustion that had hit her. She didn't have the will to find the energy to move.

There was a long moment of frozen silence. It was so late that not even the drunkest patrons were still at the tavern. “I think not knowing hurts more than anything.” Athenyla broke the peace, her voice wavering like a weak flower against the winds of a storm.
“Sometimes I wonder if he would have loved me.” A tear broke free and slid down her redened cheek. “Would he have wanted to hold me up on his shoulders and take me to the market with him, or buy me pretty things?” Athenyla smiled, a small chuckle passed her lips as she pictured it all, but it was laced in sadness. “Maybe he would have even given me a nickname, you know? I never met my the man who was my father. He probably doesn’t know I exist.”
“He might have. Sometimes fathers are good people. Sometimes they aren’t. I hope yours was.” Cole hesitated an equally long moment before reaching a long finger out to brush away the tear on her cheek.
“I’m afraid I don’t know how to fix missing something that wasn’t there.” There was nothing to remind of happier times, no sweet gesture or memory could give her a father.

//I would love some criticism on my character and they way I write, on or off anon. I'm not going to hate anyone for it, things like that help you improve as a writer. Which I seriously need to do!
//I cannot fall asleep. Tomorrow is a pretty big day for me and to top it off, my mind is racing to try and decide on a Cosplay idea. Someone occupy me?

The strain in Cole’s voice was difficult to hear. He was always the rock in their friendship, always there to support her when the sadness hit, or calm her when she was scared. To hear him crack was odd, and incredibly sad. Unlike Cole, she never knew how to say the right things, so instead she settled for giving him a firm hug.
“I would say the same things about myself… –To me you are someone.” Athenyla’s words left her lips softly as she hugged him. Selfishly, she used the moment to steal some of his warmth, she shut her eyes and shivered against him.
Cole’s eyes seemed to bug out of his skull at the hug, going impossibly wide. Distantly he realised that at least a part of it was keeping her warmer, so he settled his arm over her shoulders.
“Everyone is some one. But when you’re not you you’re no one. That’s why sometimes you have to remember, even if it hurts. Because not remembering hurts more.” His voice had returned to the near-monotone sound it usually held, his brief panic subsiding as he found a way to turn the conversation back away from himself.

“I don’t think that there would be anything wrong about being like you. The world needs more people like you.” Athenyla felt his compassionate gaze fall upon her, tilting her head, she looked back at him. “You are kind, gentle and nice. Thoes qualities are lacking in so many.”
His eyes were bluer than blue, brighter than the sky, stronger than the sea, yet as kind as a bluebird drifting on a lazy summer breeze. It was a shame so many thought Cole no more than a pest when he only tried to help.
But who helped him?
“It’s not good to be me. Being me means being no one. It’s best for you to be you. Never forget.” There was an odd, strained edge to his voice for a moment, but quickly he smoothed it over, looking back up at the sky. “You’re nice too. So you should stay you.” He considered escaping and making this conversation not have happened, but that ability had been rather… touch and go for some time now.
