I don't want to constantly post about my beloved and intentionally funny mother in law because she deserves to have privacy and not have me screenshot the group chat for internet points, but a moose mama and 2 babies are eating the baby ping pong ball sized apples from her tiny apple tree sapling so your thoughts & prayers would be appreciated in these trying times
moose pics courtesy of my poor, apple-less mother:
finally got myself in order to listen to anything taylor swift post the 'You Need to Calm down' single.
Life got hard, and then covid made everything harder, and one thing after another and I haven't listened to any of the releases since. I think it's also because taylor swift is, for me, an inherently social thing. Part of my joy in listening to her is because of the love my friend has for her. And socialising has been so hard.
Well, I finally listened to Cowboy Like Me, and it's gorgeous. It's sound immediately reminded me of a song I love dearly: Journey to the Edge of Town by Middle Kids.
Love it!!

A couple years back I made a mimic design and decided to revise and rework this character. I have ideas to play with this wacky guy and his lil trusty kobold friend, becky.
did tumblr delete my post
yeah, they did. I wrote up a big long post about the Trevor Project and the 12 hour charity livestream I'm participating in right now, and they deleted it. twice. We've raised over $50,000 for a legitimate charity but because it helps trans kids it gets deleted from the site
please share this if you can. so many amazing people have come together to make this happen.
if I make these links clickable they'll get deleted so please copy and paste them:

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT RED SISTER BY MARK LAWRENCE
I love this book. I've read it like 7 times.
Nona, our protagonist, is small. Sheâs cold. Of course she is though, because she lives in the tiny strip of land around the equator of a world that is otherwise covered in ice.
I love her. I love her anger.
Our girl has sensory issues. Our girl has rage. Our girl has dedication. Our girl has friends. She's so autistic coded I could scream and I love her.
She doesnât understand what friendship is when we first meet her. Sheâs only 8.
Reading about Nona gives me hope honestly. Life starts out so bad for her, her mom is bitter from her dadâs death, sheâs doesnât fit into her village where everyone looks different than her and doesnât understand why sheâs quiet, sheâs sold to a child taker for nothing, when the narration starts the only person Nona considers to be her friend has been hung for murder, and Nona is next. Things get worse, and they also get better. She loses people, sheâs betrayed, but things get better. And she feels like me, not understanding how friendship works, desperate to win, plagued by a cold world, bisexual, loyal to her friends, and persistent. I love that things end up with her choosing a life for herself that she didnât expect. Despite all the loss in her life she still ends up with people who care about her and who she cares about.
There are lines that I like. Lines that catch me. Where Nona thinks about the fact that she doesnât understand how peopleâs emotions work, when she says she feels like there is a piece of her that is missing, when she calls herself a monster. And people still love her. In the last chapters of the first book there is a scene where Nona finally tells her friends that she killed people who tried to kill her first friend, and how he abandoned her because of it. How her mother abandoned her because of it. She says she thinks she is unsafe, and asks her friends to help her do the same thing again as they are caught and soldiers are preparing to murder them.Â
After the carnage is finished Nona expects them to be afraid of her. Nona is prepared for them to be horrified, to abandon her. But she looks up and they, too, are covered in the blood of their enemies and she sees the CONSONANCE they have with each other in victory. âIf you are a monster then so are we. Your monstrosity is now mine.âÂ
They howl out their victory, and when another man comes, stronger and more dangerous, they all try to save Nona as she tries to save them too. It makes me cry. There are people who will fight for you just as much as you fight for them. There are people who will see all of you and they will still STAY.
One of my best friends has spent the last four years embroidering me a blanket that now has me basking in the beauty and connection and dedication and wonder and adoration and devotion and creativity and impossibility of humanity and friendship and the deep love that binds us and that she has given me a piece of her soul that I get to literally wrap myself in and keep forever and nothing else on this earth will ever be as warm as the transient adoration I feel when I pull this blanket closed over my shoulders and am utterly surrounded by how truly and inexorably loved I am by another person.
Also she made the Eye of Sauron red.
"youve taken the time to learn my attack patterns? what are you, gay?"
here is eugenides. the thief of eddis. king of attolia. he is genius. he is a fool. he is ruthless. he is a clown. he is full of spite. his heart is too big. he is loving and kind. he is utterly cold-blooded. he is stubborn as a mule. he is giving up too much. he is the butt of every joke. he remembers all. he is never where he needs to, and he is everywhere all at once. he is full of rage, he is full of hope. he is sad. he knows to recognise joy. he offends the gods. the gods love him. he is the hero of the story. you love him. if you don't, then you don't love him yet. you will love him.
goodbye, dolores, we barely knew you

Jesus Tapdancing Christ... THIS is a good welt pocket and the people who designed Simplicity 2895 ought to be blasted well ASHAMED of themselves for the crap way THEY wanted a welt pocket made. *SNARLS*
This is how I learned to do it and a good example of what you want to see in a short form tutorial: pinning, pressing, seam finishing, good fabric handling.
I would mention that you can make the pocket facing with a small panel of your matching fabric that is visible and the rest in a lighter fabric to reduce bulk. That's a lot of denim layers for comfort.
ok whatâs your florence + the machine song. mine is rabbit heart (raise it up)<3
my favorite thing about anakin as a character is the inherent nuance lucas wrote into his story, like he's neither an innocent victim nor an inherently evil monster, he's just some guy put in a series of Situations and ultimately failing the test of his humility and self-control. he was certainly flattered and shaped by the devil, spiraling into something unrecognizable, but he chose to take every step down the pathway to hell. lucas knew he would lose a certain demographic by making him basically a greedy pawn in the larger story, not a righteous betrayed macho badass, but he did it anyway. he made him an awkward romantic and a loyal friend, a generous boy and a brilliant teen. he made sure he had all the positive qualities that meant that he had potential to be so much more than vader, but it was clearly his choice to lie, murder, and fully squander that potential. there are no excuses for what he became, no acceptable reasons to commit mass slaughter. he became an unbelievably selfish and impatient man, reckless and wantonly violent. hayden captured that nuance so well, nobody can match the sweetness of his smile and the absolute horror of his scowl on mustafar. to view him through a single lens as either pure victim of manipulation and (canonically unsupported) emotional neglect, or a creepy evil villain, denies the heart of his story and the weight of his tragedy. he's neither an angel nor a demon, he's both and neither, he's deeply human, a classical tragic hero with a flaw of greed. lucas made a choice with the prequels to tell a story that not everyone wanted to hear, and the result was a character that i think is one of the best of modern pop culture, mostly because he feels to me so very, very ancient and eternal.
