I’ve seen a lot of posts recently reminding readers to leave feedback on fics, which is great!! Writers deserve all the love they can get. Likes, reblogs, comments, messages, these are the lifeblood of writers. They are proof that people are reading, that they’re enjoying, and that they want more.
But maybe readers don’t know what to say. Maybe you’re new to Tumblr, new to reading fan fiction, shy, or just not sure how to say what you want to say.
Let me start by saying, no matter how popular the blog or how cool you think they are, everyone loves a compliment. If you’re worried about sounding silly or bothering people, let me assure you- a message will make your writer do a happy dance (depending on the writer, they may actually get up and dance. I have.)
Here’s the basic ways of communicating with writers on Tumblr:
Likes and kudos- these are great, they’re the high-fives in this world. They’re the “hey, nice” nod.
Reblogs- even better, because they mean exposure. More people see the story and that makes us really happy. A reblog with a comment is amazing, especially one that entices others to read. These make a writer’s day.
Comments and messages- these are the thing that keeps us going. Most of us have anon turned on- and if we don’t, just let us know you want a private reply. (And, if your writer has anon off, it probably means they’ve been getting hate and deserve extra love.)
Recommendations- recs are like coming in to work to find someone baked your favorite cake and left it on your desk. Recommendations make your writer feel so loved and valued!
So, that’s all good, but what do you actually SAY to writers? It doesn’t have to be much or take a lot of time.
A simple “This is great/funny/hot!” is wonderful. "Best fic I’ve read this week!“ "Funny as hell and cute too.” "You have to read this, it’s awesome!“ "I can’t wait for more of this.” "I hope you keep going!“ These are great in reblogs and in messages.
Even better is specific feedback. We love specific feedback, because it tells us what readers liked and what they didn’t. Want to influence our next fic? Tell us what you liked about this one and I bet you it will keep showing up! Specific feedback is just telling the writer what you liked. It doesn’t have to be long or complicated, either. (But if you write a lot, we will love you so much.)
Was there a character you liked? Talk about them: "I love how you wrote X” “Y was so funny!” "OMG I wanted to STRANGLE Q!“ "You can really feel X’s frustration.” "Y has so much depth, they’re a really well-rounded character.“ "R says so much with so few words, it’s amazing.”
What about a part or line you enjoyed? "That bit in the park- LOVE IT.“ "I have never read a better description of a cup of tea.” "The way you wrote about his fear, that was heartbreaking.“
Was there a part that made you feel something? Happy, sad, angry? "That last sentence killed me, he’s so broken.” "I wanted to jump around when they finally kissed!“ "This chapter was so tense, my heart was pounding by the end.”
Did the characters or plot or setting remind you of your life? "I live in Brussels, that’s just how that street looks.“ "When Y talked about R, I knew exactly how he felt.” "You captured that lost, aimless feeling perfectly; I’ve so been there.“
Are there unanswered questions? Mention how much you want the answers. "I can’t wait to find out what’s in the basket!” "That was a cliffhanger ending, wow.“ "How is she going to explain THAT?” (some writers are touchy about predicting, though, so stay away from “I bet he’ll throw that letter out.” or “X is clearly coming back.”)
A few closing notes: be enthusiastic if that’s your style, go crazy with exclamation marks, smileys, caps! Tell a writer if you’re rereading their work- very little makes us happier than knowing our writing has the staying power for a second, third, sixth, tenth read. Did a reread give you a new insight or feeling about the fic? Tell us! We will be so excited to hear. And remember, recommendations are wonderful- putting up a random post tagging your favorite writers or fics you’re enjoying will show the writers that they’re writing is more than a flash in the opan and they’ll get some new readers too!

Across the table from you, Abbacchio had pushed his headphones off, the loud orchestral music filling the silence between you both. "Bruno?" As soon as he decided to hazard a guess, you caved in, almost laughing as you realized you'd said it in perfect synchronization.
"Maybe I'm overthinking it, but the other night, our little celebration… Bruno rejected my advances entirely." The stern man rolled his eyes, taking a sip of his bitter red wine and sighing.
"Just go talk to him about it." Those blunt words were all you needed to get up and head toward his office. Leone shook his head, golden eyes locking on the half full cup of tea you'd abandoned on the table. It would be found in the fridge later, just in case…
The group's small projects as of late had been hectic, leaving Bruno in his office most days, making sure his correspondence lived up to the boss' expectations. As deep as his internal conflict ran, not doing his job properly wasn’t within his normal pattern of behaviour. Just as he was getting absorbed in his last report for the day, his door opened. First it moved rapidly, freezing about two inches ajar. The confident push made him think Mista was going to march in- but when they stopped…
"Tesoro?" Bruno waited for a moment, smiling when his darling peeked out from behind the door, slipping in and shutting it behind her. "Is everything o-"
"We gotta talk."
Your serious tone didn't go unnoticed by Bruno, who set aside everything he was working on to lock his shimmering eyes on you. Having thought of all the ways to broach the topic with him, you surprised yourself with the way the words fell from your lips. Concern furrowed Bruno's brow, one hand resting on his hip as he stood to address you.
"___, honestly… why would I not want to be with you?" Though his brow stayed furrowed, his plush lips curled in a gentle smile. "I love you." Hearing those words put your heart at ease. It didn't answer all your questions, but it helped slow your rapid beating heart.
"Then… why…? I don't want to rush you, I just want to know why." Bruno chuckled, the sound sweetening the air as he approached you, turning over the lock on the door behind you.
"You were a little drunk, tesoro." Now it was your turn to give him a puzzled and concerned look. "I said no because you weren't fully aware. Maybe this is selfish, but I want our first time together to be us as we always are." You could feel your chest as if it had been filled with helium, the pressure and worries leaving. The Bucciarati effect, you had decided a while back, was a good term for the way he could always calm you down. Or anyone, for that matter. "Honestly, I had been thinking of a good time for us to make love for the first time. Ambience, what sort of candle- if any at all in the room, maybe lighting… I may have been overthinking it as well." You let out a relieved laugh, leaning forward and nestling your head against his warm, exposed chest.
"I don't need all of that, while it might be fun for us sometime." Your arms snaked up and around his shoulders, one hand twining itself in his smooth dark hair. "Really all that matters is that I'm with you." Bruno stiffened for a moment before enveloping you in his arms.
"Then you wouldn't mind doing it here? Now?" Suddenly his sweet tone darkened, half lidded eyes searching your features while his kind smile stayed in place.
"I think that's a good idea." You murmured just before you leaned into a kiss. Every movement one of you made was easily accompanied by the other, without a word needed. He lifted you into his arms and you unzipped his collar to leave kisses all down his front.
"Ngh, I've thought about this, too." Bruno grunted, placing you atop his desk, he allowed his hands to explore your body, breasts, hips, thighs… "Of you and I deciding our passion was more important than Passione at the moment." Lips pressed against the side of your neck, he let out another silky laugh.
"I'm deciding right now, this is more important." You answered with a sly smirk, gasping when you saw a zipper materialize from the collar to the hem of your shirt. "Cheater." Your tease only encouraged him, unzipping the shirt and letting it fall away.

A sharp gasp stole your breath as his strong fingers parted your labia tentatively. You went slowly at first, drawing out each thrust, the look of pure ecstasy on his face too perfect to miss out on.
"You fit around me," He groaned. "so perfectly." His praises never seemed to stop, even between his louder moans he would speak. Little declarations of love and murmurs of your beauty, of every aspect he'd come to know, they never stopped.

"We should keep moving." Giorno mumbled, rubbing his forehead a bit as he tried to keep from blushing. There was no mistaking them saying one another's names.
"Wait, but that sounds like she- and he- and- OH." Narancia turned red from ear to ear, latching onto Giorno's arm and tugging him away. "We can never tell anyone ever that we just heard that." Giorno blinked absentmindedly, glancing back to where the office was and shaking his head.
"I have no motive to talk about it." Narancia agreed, plastering his hands over his ears. "I wonder if there's a stand that can make you forget specific incidents…"

Bruno was taking a long look at some documents, dictionary at hand, and didn’t bother to raise his face. His hand flew as he wrote something. “That’s quite alright… Take care, amore. I’ll see you tonight.”
You blinked twice. He was as cool as a cucumber and incredibly focused. “Thank you, Bruno… But how am I supposed to leave?”

Right now, Abbacchio is listening to music on the couch with closed eyes. It’s the perfect chance to get his stand to help out. Soon enough, it materializes beside you, ‘eyes’ locked on your form.
“Hey sweetheart! You came in the perfect moment—can you turn into Abbacchio for a sec?”
It tilts his head to the side (cute) but does as you ask. You appreciatively nod along, and make a huge deal out of looking at him from all angles. It makes him blush. But still… this isn’t quite what you want. You were thinking along the lines of having him draped in a big blanket for the sake of painting the folds as exactly as you could but… Abbacchio would feel the fabric dragging along his body. So you ask for the next best thing.
“Hm… Can you.. Do it without clothes?”
And Moody Blues delivers without skipping a beat.
“…Gosh, you really are beautiful… Okay, okay, pose like this—and stay still. Absolutely, completely… Perfect.” You quickly hasten to start the sketch.
It takes Abbacchio ten whole ass minutes before he opens his eyes and promptly falls off the couch, choking on his spit.
『FUGO』
Purple Haze is a sad thing to look at. You’ve never told Fugo that, of course, but the sentiment lingers every single time you lay your gaze on it. PH seems to know only one emotion and that is pure, unadulterated rage, brought out from the deepest depths and never burning out. You’ve wondered many times if you could do anything about it—about Fugo’s ashamed, subverted gaze.
The chance comes when you are taking a nap on a patch of grass. The sun’s rays are soft, and the flowers play with the wind. It is so peaceful. It’s almost perfect with Fugo reading a book close by. You close your eyes to enjoy the warm sunshine kisses. And then you feel… liquid drops on your cheek. There’s a shadow above you, and lo and behold, PH is that shadow.
“…Hey there.”
It keeps staring and drooling.
“Wanna sit by my side?” As it does, you take a look at what Fugo is doing. …Reading, stuck in his own world. You smile. PH obediently gets down to your side, slow and careful with its movements.
“You are super pretty, y’know?” But it doesn’t respond to your words. It just keeps staring. “I would love to know what makes you happy, but I’m sorry I can’t be of much help. Hey… Can I kiss you?”
Time slows as you lean closer to PH, and gently graze his cheek with your lips. Fugo screams, immediately feeling your soft touch, but PH’s head lowers and a tiny, adorable whimper escapes its pursed lips.
It disappears out of its own volition—but you are left content… and with your hands full thanks to Fugo’s panicking.

I laughed so hard once I realized what my results were going to be.
Getting hitched to this menace and loving it? I could see that. Of course, the betrothal would be a complete sham and the ceremony so ludicrous that I wouldn't be able to help but stick around to see how it ends. It would be a fun time until the Minamoto brothers brand themselves the ultimate wedding crashers and bring Akane along for good measure while one of the mokke eats the wedding rings out of the misguided belief that they're candy. Since Tsukasa definitely threatened Natsuhiko into stealing the rings from some kid's parents, Hanako says it's karma coming back for revenge by way of ruining the wedding. Tsukasa goes into a frenzy and starts slicing open every mokke in attendance to try and find the rings as Hanako attempts to stop him before they're both attacked by Teru, who believes I'm being forced into the marriage.

Eskimo Kisses & Booping Noses with Bruno (drabble)
Bruno is cupping your face tenderly in his hands, he brings you close enough for what you expect is a kiss but then he rubs your noses together. And all you can do is chuckle. Endlessly affectionate, forever quirky, how you loved Bruno so.
You would find yourself cheerfully reading a book or washing the dishes when you would hear the familiar sound of a zipper and Bruno would pop out to kiss you right on your nose. It would never fail to send you in a fit of giggles. Automatically, you would reach out for him, just so that you could get back at him with a kiss of your own.
Sometimes, right before you drift off to sleep, Bruno will ghost his fingers very gently starting from the space between your eyes down to the tip of your nose. He’d very playfully boop your nose with his finger. As he continued with the action, you would begin to find your eyelids getting very heavy.
As always, the last thing you hear before you drift off to sleep is Bruno saying, “sweet dreams, beloved.”
