this post is just compiled from various resources i’ve found online about skull cavern, because i personally struggle with it. i rarely post on this blog but feel free to follow my main!
Pick a day when it’s the best fortune forecast on TV.
Get to the bus stop by 10 am.
Use boost food- Spicy Eel, triple shot espresso for speed, +1 luck food (on days with good fortune forecast, you can get 12x the normal amount of luck)
Bring a stack of regular food to restore health (sashimi, algae soup, fried eggs, field snacks, etc. Crystal fruits are also very useful)
Bring bombs if you have them.
Bring lotsa staircases with you to skip large floors, spiral floors, infested floors!
It helps to have iridium pickaxe and max mining level.
Put a chest near the entrance of the cave and drop off bombs/food/staircases as needed
Collect 100 jade (using crystalariums) and trade with the Desert Trader for 100 staircases
You can also buy 5 Triple Shot Espressos for 1 diamond and 5 Spicy Eel for 1 ruby
Killing 500 dust sprites in the mines award you the Beggar’s Ring, which doubles loot drop for monsters. It’s definitely a worthy investment for the Skull Cavern
If you have a farm warp totem, you can stay in the cavern longer, up to 1 am.
The Return Scepter is expensive, but it’s very useful for warping home immediately
Keep breaking those rocks to search for staircases or holes that would take you several floors down at once.
If your goal is to get deeper, ignore the monsters and ore and keep breaking rocks or bomb them. The iridium ore will start appear more frequently after 30+ levels.
It’s okay to pass out at 2am! You won’t lose items from passing out, only from being killed. The fine for passing out is maxed at 1000 gold, which is relatively cheap in the long run
