Ableists hate it when a neurodivergent (or otherwise disabled) person says "no, I can't do that" because they demand visible suffering from disabled people to prove they're not Faking It.
"I CANT HANDLE THIS" *handles this*
"I CANT TAKE ANOTHER DAY" *takes another day*
btw it's so fucking stupid you can be anxious physically in your body even after you've decided mentally you don't care. I'm supposed to be in charge here

No one asked but here’s my advice on cleaning for my fellow ADHDers
(The key thing is that you need to stop fighting the ADHD! Embrace it!!)
First of all stop looking at the big picture. Look at details instead. I used to try and do one step (i.e. picking up dirty laundry) in the entire room before moving to the next step which was overwhelming and demotivating because it seemed to never look less messy until the very end. So break your space down into smaller areas and completely finish one before moving on to the next (I like starting with tables because they’re already a very clearly defined space). It might seem counterproductive but it will help make things less overwhelming and makes it easier to see your progress as well as what still needs to get done which will help keep you motivated.
Once you’ve picked out your first area pick up whatever item is nearest to you. Decide where it belongs. Trash or laundry can be collected in a bag or laundry basket (I wouldn’t put them on the floor. We want clearly defined spaces) if it’s something that belongs to an area you haven’t cleaned yet just put it in the general vicinity of where it should go. We only know about our current project area. Everything else doesn’t exist right now so we don’t worry about it.
If you come across something you know you ALWAYS put in the “wrong” spot ask yourself why. Is its dedicated spot not easily accessible? Is it just not practical because it’s far away from where you use the object? Does it maybe not actually have a dedicated place? If you can solve any of those issues in the moment within a reasonable time (for me usually under 35 minutes) then do that immediately. If you need to buy something write it down. Same applies to any “projects” you might come across. Instead of just moving that picture frame you’ve been meaning to put up for months now to some corner, go and get some nails and hang it up. Or finish that craft project that’s almost done and taking up space so can put away the materials. I know it feels counterproductive to “let yourself get distracted” but it’s not just about cleaning things up for the moment, we also want to make things easier for next time. The second you look at something and tell yourself “I’ll do that later” you’ve basically already lost. So get it done now while you’re thinking about it so future you doesn’t have to do it.
TAKE BREAKS!!! don’t wait until you’re exhausted. Set a timer for however long you think you can clean without wanting to end it all. Depending on the day that might be three hours or five minutes. Doesn’t matter. You can adjust it as you go if needed but it will prevent you from burning out and getting frustrated and feeling like you failed and it helps to stay motivated by giving you a clear goal to work towards. It also helps get you started if you don’t feel like cleaning. Set the timer to anywhere between 1-5 minutes and see what you can get done. Take a break and repeat. Either you eventually get in ✨the zone✨ and clean for longer or you can at least clean up a couple things in those few minutes. It’s still much more than nothing. Once the timer goes off set another timer for however long you want to take a break for (for me that’s usually 20-30 minutes) do whatever you want in those breaks. Eat, drink, sit around and watch YouTube. Whatever helps you relax. The key is making the breaks long enough to be relaxing but short enough to keep your brain thinking about cleaning. (Watching cleaning videos or mentally engaging with cleaning in some other way really helps your brain already prepare for the task and can be helpful if you’re really struggling to get started). Rinse and repeat. Having structured breaks like that helps you recover without fully disconnecting from what you’re doing. Stopping after you’ve completed one area for example makes it like you’ve completed one task so getting started on the next area would be a completely different task and that transition takes energy. However if you just drop everything as soon as the timer goes off, after your break you’re just going back to continuing the same task. The tab is still open in the background of your brain.
Anything is better than nothing. If you can do everything in one day that’s great. But if you can only put away one single thing that day that’s already an improvement. I often plan two days for cleaning my room so I have the option to split the work between those days.
That’s it. Hope this helps someone. I’m still not the tidiest person but figuring these strategies out has changed cleaning from actual torture to something that’s honestly kinda enjoyable and there’s nothing like getting to exist in a clean and tidy space for improving your wellbeing

to anyone in the areas impacted by the wildfire smoke, my #1 biggest piece of advice as someone whos been dealing with wildfire smoke in the NW united states for years, is build yourself a Corsi-Rosenthal Cube
they perform as well as expensive HEPA air cleaners, and are comparatively VERY inexpensive. all you need is a box fan, 4 air filters, a piece of cardboard, and some duct tape!!!!
i think it took us maybe a half hour to put ours together, if that, and we replace the filters every 3 months. it's really made a HUGE difference, both when the air quality is bad, but also with our allergies
Saw these easy to read instructions on Twitter. Stay safe 💚
Great time to start pricing this out by the way, fire season starts… on the summer solstice this year, that’s fun. Signs point to it being a doozy.

let it go my friend... i say this as a fat "ugly" dyke. your body is the vehicle w which you move in the world, give love, receive love, make things, SEE things, KNOW things. that's all that matters. beauty and ugliness are marketing scams esp for women. LIVE and FUCK THE WORLD it's not easy to get there but it's so sweet. ppl will love you fat and "ugly" i swear on god.
this is like a religious text to me and i'm not joking even a little
