Ghost town of Thistle, Utah: Thistle is a ghost town in Utah County, Utah, United States, about 65 miles (105 km) southeast of Salt Lake City. During the era of steam locomotives, the town's primary industry was servicing trains for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad (often shortened to D&RG, D&RGW, or Rio Grande). The fortunes of the town were closely linked with those of the railroad until the changeover to diesel locomotives, when the town started to decline.
In April 1983, a massive landslide dammed the Spanish Fork River. The residents were evacuated as nearly 65,000 acre feet of water backed up, flooding the town. Thistle was destroyed; only a few structures were left partially standing. Federal and state government agencies have said this was the most costly landslide in United States history, The economic consequences of which affected the entire region. The landslide resulted in the first presidentially declared disaster area in Utah.
My office view this week.
A few shots from a wedding I shot in New Hope, PA a few weeks ago.
Found the perfect early 20th century farm implements to finish up the bedroom.
Next weekend I'm shooting my first wedding. Just browsing through some recent portraits Ive done. Here's Natalie for a new health/lifestyle brochure
It's been a zine-creating fall. Here are my first two, one personal anecdotes from my ED and one about ghost stories in Boston. I would love to trade with you! If you don't like zines let's craft trade, whatever you'd like to do!
Hung out with two babes in the woods today searching for ghosts but found a lake, some nakedness, a weird swamp, a town full of norms who felt uncomfortable with our tattoos and a lot of fun.
Adventures in thrift store finds at old farmhouses.
Company retreat in Norfolk, CT. We spend a long weekend in a rennovated farmhouse swimming, eating, and learning about being better activists.
Two super sassy outtakes from photos I took for new work/professional photos/hi I'm a boss sometimes/holy moley I'm wearing makeup. I have one more week in this amazing house with fantastic natural light. Let me know if anyone needs a headshot in the next week, I'm trying to take as many photos as possible before we move on the 26th!
My second home, New York. Meat packing district. Kuwanis. Chelsea Market. Barclay's Center.
Brownfield, Maine. Spent the last weekend adventuring and exploring the middle of nowhere in Maine. We arrived far past dusk and navigated our way one and a half miles in the darkness to our yurt, an awesome shelter thats a cabin-tent hybrid. No phones, no electricity, just candles and a gas lamp. Also, the amount of gun shots we heard outside under the veil of night (presumably hunting, animals) was alarming.
7 Seconds at Brighton Music Hall.
Well, two years in a row we've had less than a month's notice to move somewhere. This time it stings especially, as this beautiful place has been the backdrop for so many amazing photo shoots and the first place I've felt emotionally attached to..ever. Reblogging the first time I explored my house with my dirty camera lens.
Trolling Chicago and Boston craigslists for that "place" that gives you the warm tinglies.
Back on the band wagon. Had a wonderful shoot at True Bistro a few weeks ago with their Vietnamese Crepe. Definitely Click on the photo to see stage two of my new website! I'm really excited for the new direction I'm going in and would love feedback (note, totally not done yet). In a slightly off-topic note, it turns out over the next few months I'm going to be spending a ton of time in Chicago! Would love some recommendations on the music scene/places to adventure.
Drove 11 hours through upstate new york, pennsylvania, and a thunder/lightning storm with Tay and Jose on two hours of sleep.
