“Uh oh, the boys!”
The muses have inspired artist for centuries just like how women inspire us today.
I don’t know if anyone needs to hear this but “we all respond to trauma in different ways, not just pretty palatable ways” and “we are accountable for our own actions, even actions born from trauma” are not contradictory statements
I want to use this post to clear something up. When I talk about toxic masculinity it always causes a big backlash, and I’ve noticed it’s mainly because men don’t know what it means. When I say I hate toxic masculinity, I do not mean that I hate that you’re a man or that I hate masculinity.
Toxic masculinity is THIS. Toxic masculinity is when men reinforce the idea that men should suppress and ignore softer displays of emotions that are associated with women. Toxic masculinity is reinforcing the fear of physical affection between men because it makes them appear too feminine or even ‘homosexual’.
It has to stop. Let men cry. Let men hold each other. Stop perceiving things that are ‘feminine’ as weak because outing your emotions is not weakness, it’s strength.
This dad is the Hero we Need.
Reblog this!!!!
When MEN reinforce the idea???????
I see a shit ton of women, not men, reinforcing the idea here.
Men and women alike reinforce this idea.
For every man who cringes at a man holding his son, there’s a woman who assumes he’s molesting said son and/or “turning him gay” by holding him.

This project was rejected in 2016, but the developer resubmitted it last year without actually addressing any of the issues.

OP: May 2019
Comment: Jan 2020
here’s an article about the original thread, including a transcription of the tweets & some context (May 28, 2019)
another article that goes more into the issue of water (May 28, 2019) (“The Havasupai Tribe has, in fact, voiced concerns about groundwater pumping near the Grand Canyon. In 2016, the tribe sued the city of Williams and other well owners, saying the drilling of more wells for resorts, developments, theme parks and uranium mines, among other businesses, increasingly threatens the tribe’s water. […] Duthie said those sorts of concerns shouldn’t hinder Stilo’s proposal for the hotel on Kotzin Ranch because the company wouldn’t use a well.”)
as of January 24, 2020, Stilo had submitted a “a revised proposal for roads and utility easements connecting to parcels of land they own that are surrounded by the Kaibab National Forest” (unanimously approved). opening these roads would require “some blasting.” as regards the groundwater:
Gitlin also worried that the new proposal did not adequately protect the area’s groundwater.
The proposal promises that commercial water needs — which during peak season, would be 275,000 gallons a day — would have to be hauled in by truck. It still allows “residential uses” to be met by pumping groundwater.
In the proposal, Stilo offered to agree to a “complete prohibition” on commercial groundwater use, except in the event of “technological breakthroughs resulting in proven zero-impact upon groundwater resources.”
It suggested a restrictive covenant or a conservation easement to enforce that restriction, but it’s not clear who would be responsible for that enforcement.
effectively, plans for development are going forward, & previous reassurances that no immediate proposals were being made seem like lies.
it’s worth mentioning in light of some other comments going around that the issue here isn’t preserving the untouched pristine beauty of nature or something–this kind of terra nullius-inflected rhetoric in fact relies upon colonialist & genocidal logic–but rather the responsibilities & livelihoods of the people who belong to the land & stand to be harmed by these proposals.
incidentally, the Havasupai Tribe have a COVID-19 relief fund that you can donate to here, in addition to emailing & calling the people listed above.
You know what's so unique about this movement? The fact that there isn't a designated leader. There's no MLK; there's no Malcolm X; there is no specific person that is leading all of this. This means that there isn't a person the government can target and kill in order to stop the movement. The big motivator for this movement revolves around the internet.
However, this does mean that it will be very easy to lose motivation for this movement. But we can't let that happen. So don’t stop sharing content that revolves around blm. Keep going to protests. Keep donating to funds. Keep signing petitions. Keep supporting black creators. We can't let this movement and this motivation die until justice is served. So keep talking about it.

Stop being racist
its not racist to make fun of hippies.
Some places don’t even name the charity like you’re just donating to the corporation’s tax writeoff. You’re better off giving that money to a homeless person on the street who needs it more..
white culture
Black tumblr culture is screaming WHITE at random posts for kicks
That sure is a lot of unbacked claims and generic tankie “RICH PEOPLE BIG NUMBERS” analogies that all seem like an excuse for being selfish.
If McDonald’s asks me if I want to give the equivalent of pocket change to charity, why not shrug and go ‘why not’? Why assume the company isn’t giving their own money to charity too? In fact, I know McD’s has their own charity.
“Hoarding wealth”, unless you’re stuffing all your cash under a mattress, is literally impossible.
That mansion that they bought? Yeah, they didn’t cut a check and then a building magically appeared out of the ether. Wood needed to be felled and processed (giving employment to the lumberjacks and wood processors), stone quarried and cut (giving work to quarry workers and stonemasons), metal mined and smelted (giving work to miners and smelters). Then all those materials had to be shipped to the place where the house was built (giving money to truckers). Then the thing actually had to be, you know, built (giving money to construction workers). Not to mention the carpeting and glass and piping and appliances and wiring and plumbing and tiles and whatever else. Building a house creates jobs.
And so does investment. When someone invests in a business, that business does not then take the money and stash it under their mattresses. They use it to build new factories and stores, to hire more employees. Or if they use it to simply improve their current operations, then that will lower costs of production, leading to lower prices, meaning that people who buy the product will now have more money left over to spend other places in the economy, which creates more jobs somewhere else.
The rich are not taking their money and putting it in a big Scrooge McDuck money bin that they can swim around in. They are putting the money right back into the economy, creating wealth that you don’t see, because you have consciously decided not to see it. Look beyond what’s immediately obvious.
Remember, Tankies know nothing about business and economics. I’m pretty sure there are children’s books which have more in-depth knowledge.
Bill Gates is really not the example you want to use, claiming that he personally would be fine if the government took 99% of his money. Because Bill Gates has already been using the vast majority of his money for charity, for decades. Every dollar you take away from him is a dollar that is being taken directly away from saving lives and used for more government waste. You can’t create a world that doesn’t need charity by removing the charity first and then just kinda hoping the government will pick up the slack eventually, no matter what the communists keep telling you.

Remember kids, if someone awful and toxic in your life is like, “if you leave me/if you don’t do what I want/if you do X thing I will kill myself” then you let that nigga die, because their life isn’t worth more than yours, and their actions ain’t your damn problem.
