I just had someone I thought I respected say to me “you haven’t changed” like it’s a bad thing. Excuse me? What is it that I’m suppose to change? I work so fucking hard every day at being a nice and generous person, meeting new goals and achievements big or small, and to be the best damn mom and wife I can be while also still prioritizing my own goals and needs… But yet this person has put me on their own personal view of what success looks like and apparently I don’t meet their standards. I can totally take constructive criticism when it comes to choices I make because I am open to advice and critiques, but pulling out the “you haven’t changed” card out after years of literally changing things about myself I didn’t like or that didn’t work for my family… I’m taking full offence to the phrase. Because why the fuck do I need to change who I am vs choices I make?? You can say “you’re still not making the choices I would make” but fuck your “you haven’t changed” comment.
