Fixing Chapter 2
AKA me wishing Leona was more of a competent and conniving bastard in his own chapter so I can actually simp for his big brain—
Okay. So I think most of us can agree that chapter 2 was rocky. At the very least, I feel as though it’s the most universally disliked chapter of what has been released of the main story thus far. There’s a lot of plot holes or just plain disappointment with Leona’s lack of active involvement in the story.
In this essay post, I’m going to propose some ways to fix common grievances people (including myself) have with chapter 2. By no means am I saying that these suggestions will fix all of the problems, or that my writing is necessarily better than what we got, it’s just me exploring the possibilities of what chapter 2 could have been.
***Chapter 2 spoilers! (… and some mild chapter 3 spoilers!)***
Please note that most of the major plot beats will be the same, and I’ll just point out places where there will be major deviations from the current chapter 2.
There will still be an upcoming Magift Tournament, and Savanaclaw + Leona are still planning on sabotaging Diasomnia. Crowley will still ask Yuu, Grim, and Adeuce to investigate strange occurrences that are harming players around NRC. They’ll still have Riddle and Cater help them investigate the culprit, and they’ll meet Jack along the way. Leona will still OB at the end, and we’ll still get Cheka’s cameo, all that good stuff.
With that out of the way, let’s begin:
I was under the impression that Kishiar’s “push and pull” ability was actually gravity manipulation, it’s just the world setting means that they don’t know abt gravity yet. Was I reading too much into it or something?
The Orr Empire - As of Chapter 465
So this is how I've constructed the new map it from the bits and pieces I've been keeping track of. So spoilers ahead.
Capital - I assume it's basically in the middle of the Empire.
Hartan Village - In the novel, it's a 1-2 day ride to it from the Capital to the East.
Rik Mt Range - I remember it being in the smack dab in the middle of the Empire. Most people awakened from that spot spreading outwards. It was mentioned that the further away from the Red Stone, the less awakenings occured.
Peletta Duchy - Hellem mentioned it was a 'chilly and damp' place, also Kishiar said there were 'black cliffs that water crashed against' or something like that. Also somewhere it was mentioned that he was secluded away in the North. Ergo, North + Ocean + Warm enough to not have too much snow since its chilly instead of snowy or icy, so i put it Easterly but North enough and near the Ocean.
Tainu - Its in the West, and far enough it almost borders the edge the Empire but not quite.
Great Sarain Forest - It was stated that on full speed horseback it would take a week to reach the edge of the Great Sarain Forest from the Capital. There was also a swamp and some mountainous region/flat plains between the Forest and the Capital.
Durban, Nelarn, Aeril and Hisnu - These are the border Kingdoms of the West. The Great Sarain Forest crosses over into the 4 of them.
Exita - A island in the north said to be winter all year round. Shuden said he had alcohol from there.
Aaaand I think that's it for now. Not much info on the South, North and East yet, I'll be adding new maps as I go along my reread of Turning.
If you think about it, technically Kishiar is a Duke of the North. But doesn't fall into the cold male lead RomFan tropes.
The Orr Empire - As of Chapter 653
So I've read further, remembered a bit more so yeah, an improved map be upon ye. I'll add the changes I've done and why, so again, SPOILERS AHEAD.
Capital - I've moved it a bit more north-west.
Hartan Village - About the same as before. Added a bit of forestry and mountains because I remembered they met Nahan in a forested area and saved people from a mountainous, cave like place.
Rik Mt Range - Spread it out a bit more. Brought it lower. Added a river because they stopped at one to rest on the mountain when they were on the Red Stone Mission and a Village that the Southern Army was staying at as protection for the stone. The East has a lot of mountainous areas which make it hard to cultivate, so I brought it more eastwards.
Peletta Duchy - Took it a bit more northwards but still on the coast. I'm not sure if I'm remembering it right but Kishiar said he saw it make landfall from Peletta (if im wrong please correct me).
Tainu - Still the same
Great Sarain Forest - Made it bigger.
Durban, Nelarn, Aeril and Hisnu - Changed the borders a bit.
Exita - Made it look like an actual winter island.
Now for new info
Odequia - Main city of the East and the Diarca Dukedom's main residence and stronghold.
Guanamar Mts - There's a hunters cabin here (iykyk) and a river flowing through the mountain, Kishiar caught fish for a meal. There is also a lake that's a bit of a tourist attraction.
Pofuan Village - Now this I'm a bit confused about. So there is a village IN and one AT THE BASE of the Mt, I'm not sure which one is Pofuan and which one is nameless.
Tyckenspail Region - A small region in the South-West of Orr. The unnamed village ruins that hid the First Duke of Tain's underground lab is here.
Star of Nagran Hidden Southern Base - Its hidden right on the edge of the desert but close enough that the people from the Western Base could evacuate to it pretty fast.
Charloin - Largest Trading City in the South. Port City that facilitates trade between the North and the South. Therefore the huge river connecting to the open ocean.
Mclara - A city further south that the Cavalry(?) Southern HQ was stationed in during the first game.
Southern Island - Apparently its a prison/exile island for criminals.
THAT'S IT.......for now. Its pretty fun doing this. Maybe I'll do a map for the Capital and its 7 Walls. Been keeping track of those too.......
Scum Villain AU where Shen Yuan and Shen Jiu transmigrate by swapping lives (i.e. Shen Yuan wakes up in Shen Qingqiu's body on Qing Jing Peak, post-fever, while Shen Jiu wakes up in Shen Yuan's body in a hospital in modern China) but it doesn't quite work right.
The system glitches or something and they end up having to jointly time share their lives. Every time a certain moon phase or something (cyclical) comes around they abruptly switch back.
So they spend the entire time trying to undo everything the other one has been up to while everyone around them is just desperately attempting to figure out wtf is going on. Shen Yuan does the skinner quest and stops Luo Binghe's abuse, and Shen Jiu gets a job with a rival company and starts showing up Shen Yuan's brothers. Then they switch back and Shen Jiu is like "it's woodshed o'clock for the beast" and Shen Yuan resigns. Then they switch back again and Shen Yuan saves Liu Qingge's life and gets poisoned defending Luo Binghe, and Shen Jiu creates his own start-up and blackmails his eldest brother about the mistress he's just uncovered. Then they switch back and Shen Yuan gets his brother and his sister-in-law into couples counseling and Shen Jiu embarks on a quest to either cure himself without Liu Qingge's help or die trying.
Eventually they just start leaving bitchy messages for one another to find and doing things that won't cause lasting damage but are incredibly petty. Shen Yuan keeps trying to tell Shen Jiu to read PIDW but Shen Jiu takes one look at his merch-filled bachelor pad and immediately decides that his opinions aren't worth anything, so it takes him a while to actually do it (he is really mad about this when he finally opens the novel and it turns out to be extremely relevant information).
Imagine some guy pulling up to McDonald’s and starting a fight with one of the workers. They end up having a sword fight in the parking lot. And then the guy who started the fight starts shouting what sounds like conspiracies. That’s basically Jet and Zuko in that one episode.
like the first rule of cooking is to have fun and be yourself and the first rule of baking is to stay calm because the dough can sense fear
This is some shit Shen Yuan would say.
Merry Christmas!!! :D
Here’s some doodles and sketches of these insane love birds ❤️❤️🫶🫶
These two have made me insane and consumed my brain rot lmao
If I can’t have their type of love then I don’t want it.
the first rule of writing is that there are no rules. the second rule is to save your work every 5 minutes because technology is a fickle god.

Do you think Yoo Joonghyuk would have a gamer dent head?
I love Kiolle he’s legitimately my favorite character in turning. But godDAMN do I want 1st timeline kiolle and Yuder to meet. I want them to be best frenemies and absolutely hate each other but literally everyone else thinks they’re best friends. Maybe that worsens yuder’s reputation (the angst potential!!) and maybe ppl think kiolle is a rebound or something (both of them are practically retching when they hear this rumor). Canon probably diverges (when kiolle dies 1st timeline) by him passing by the traffickers. And eventually he and yuder meet up (obviously)
Anyways I know there is no way Kiolle wouldn’t try to retaliate when yuder makes fun of him, but I need them to interact and yuder needs some stress relief. Kiolle needs to get bullied more often, it’s funny af.
Awakener Kiolle Au
Kiolle awakens! But he has no idea that he does. So obviously mostly canon events, with Yuder noticing something off during the spar when they first met. Nahan doesn’t find out abt him being an awakened but if he did he’d freak tf out.
Now you may be wondering, how exactly has no one noticed he’s an Awakener? Well it’s because Kiolle’s power is luck. He can increase his own luck by decreasing others, but since its subconscious he manages to make both his and Yuder’s luck worse whenever they’re together. Yuder finds out at some point about his power (probably because Nipollen didn’t hesitate to approach him) and immediately goes hell instructor mode. He bullies the absolute shit out of Kiolle. Now Kiolle’s luck can do anything as long as it’s physically possible, and unfortunately for him he still can’t break off that contract. Instead he keeps accidentally getting info for Yuder (and not realizing it, the idiot that he is) and keeps getting into situations he’d rather not be in. I honestly don’t know where else to go with this, but Kiolle is such a clown that giving him this power and putting him in any situation is akin to watching a car crash.
Turning AU!!
Spirit King Yuder!
Spirits have long since persisted in the world of turning, although very rarely are they seen by humans. They’re kind of like fae in that they are elusive, mischievous, and inhuman. Spirits like to make deals like fae, and the only real difference is that they’re all embodiments of elements of nature. The older the feature of nature is the older the spirit is. Although to even look like a child the spirit has to be centuries old (ex: rivers, newer landscapes) spirits of things such as flowers and younger trees are more like sprites or animals, and have a similarly lower intellect. Humans are as aware of spirits as we are of fae (few believe but it is somewhat widely known) spirits typically can’t be seen which is part of why people don’t believe in them. The Awakening happens as per usual and this is where Yuder comes in.
Basically there are two options for this AU
1.
Yuder has been spirit king since forever and isn’t beholden to the same rules as his subjects. So when the awakening happens he gets curious and attempts to insert himself into life near the site of the red stone. This ends up with him joining the cavalry, this time with his motivation being satisfying his curiosity. He ends up in various shenanigans with the cavalry as a result of his clear inhumanity. It would be extra funny if literally everybody thinks Yuder is a spy because of how suspiciously he’s acting (talking to thin air, sneaking around, missing at odd times, disrespecting ALL royalty) and when Enon joins (they already know each other) he adds fuel to the fire because he thinks it’s funny. They probably find out because one of the spirits forgets to hide themselves one day.
2. The ANGSTIER option
The spirits have their own main element(wind, earth, fire, water) kings, but when Yuder gains abilities from the red stone he gains the ability to control all of nature. A power that no one else in the history of the world was able to do. With all of nature (meaning spirits as well) respecting his will, this triggers Yuder’s gradual ascension into a spirit (king).
Btw the reason no other awakened or mage ascended to a spirit is because they typically have one or two spirits following them around where it’s a symbiotic relationship, essentially a deal, where the person gets control over the element, while the spirits powers grow. The difference is literally all spirits listen to Yuder and obey him as long as he as the power to direct them.
In the 1st timeline Yuder found out about the world ending much earlier, along with the Pethuamet’s incident (he didn’t make it in time, although the cavalry got there faster) due to the spirits. This doesn’t actually mean anything and he’s even more stressed (with less evidence but more likelihood in the world ending) and kishiar is not helping. And Yuder’s own pending immortality is going to suck ass in a world that’s ended. The spirits being the mischievous little fuckers that they are tell Yuder to just take kishiar’s soul bcs he likes him and he’ll probably be less annoying. Yuder is understandably distressed by this and tired of the spirits bs, but does agree when the spirits tell him he can just let kishiar live out his natural life span then take his soul, and it’ll be even easier considering their connection and many “deals”.
So things (unsurprisingly) go to shit when Kishiar severs their connection. Yuder at that point had been pretty well into integrating into the world, and having a part of the (eventual) spirit king’s soul ripped out made everything that much worse.
If you’re wondering about how exactly Kishiar had enough power to do that, think a pebble causing an avalanche, with Yuder’s soul being the pebble, the end of the world being the avalanche.
Yuder then goes though canon 1st timeline events with the main difference being Yuder refusing to use his powers, rather than being unable to. ( he feels he caused the end, for no real reason)
I don’t know how much changes other than Yuder’s emotional state (it’s 10x worse) and how much he tries to push Kishiar away bcs he doesn’t want to force him into selling his soul away ( We all know Kishiar would be all in as long as it’s his precious Yuder 😊)
Anyways he and Emon also have existential crises together too now.
A DnD game where all the players characters have been isekaid. It can be up to the player who or what their character is, but for some extra fun, have the character have at least one trait of the player (ethnicity, personality, background, etc.,) the Dungeon Master is the god/ess that brought you to the realm (it’s up to the DM wether they want to make a whole new world or not) and the players must figure out how to return to their world, but they have the choice to stay. I have no idea if this has been done before, but I hope nibbling on this idea is at least interesting.

Literally what is up with the Harbinger of Chaos thing? Even Nuwa calls him that, but if Mk did what he was made (BY HER) to do, he would’ve been the opposite of a harbinger. Someone explain to me wtf the title is supposed to mean!!!
LMK SEASON 5 SPOILERS

Question, so each cycle Mk was supposed to wake up, like way later right? And I think we’ve already figured out that he probably would have had no one. My question is, if Nine was there at the beginning of the cycle, wouldn’t nine have been born anew every cycle he didn’t already exist? It’s not like he showed up out of nowhere. Plus, wouldn’t azure (and maybe even LBD) never have been escaped if it weren’t for him? So I imagine, not only would Past Mks been alone, he wouldn’t even be missed.
