i think a lot of us are lowkey traumatized by the amount of porn we were exposed to as children and it's a very weird place to be in because generations before ours weren't in a situation where so easily you were unwillingly exposed to pornography. and now if you point out children should not have access to porn you're a prude because we are trying desperately to convince ourselves it was okay and it didn't affect us in a negative way but it did. it did and it's our responsibility to stop this from happening to younger generations

I am so done with these (and I hate to use the word but-) “woke” feminists these days that just keep repeating each others points without any critical thought whatsoever. I heard someone talking about how they once knew a woman who became a single mom, and started struggling with substance abuse and who had to turn to prostitution in order to survive. And this ridiculous theythem nonbinary creature genuinely corrects them with “sex work. It’s called sex work.” Can you even hear yourself? I’m suuuure this woman who turned to prostitution is really gonna benefit from you calling her suffering sex work, sure, you’re being such an activist.

That entire exchange really exemplifies how the ‘pro sex work’ crowd are not operating in women’s best interests 🙄

It seems some anons are not actually familiar with how Haes played out. I was a recovering bulimic in the late 2010s and initially looked to the group in hopes of finding support in my healing. anyone who payed close attention to the movement would have seen that Haes was damaging. it had underlying principles which were useful - fat people deserve to be treated with dignity, however it quickly became a community full of harmful ideas beyond that.

fatness went from a neutral state of being to an oppressed *identity* that one could not ever opt out of, akin to sex or race. attempting to opt out was treated as betraying the group. they also despised those who had suffered from restrictive eating disorders such as myself, despite us being very ill and in need of support.

because of that change in mentality fat activists were forced to deny harmful health effects and were peer pressured into staying obese or even gaining weight to prove their purity.

this is honestly quite similar to trans people, who started out merely asking for their dysphoria to be understood by the public, but eventually turned into an identity that scorned all criticism and cast out detransitioners. it's a fair comparison.

Honestly I kind of respect this opinion more, because they're accepting and admitting it's a factor that causes people to transition. I don't think they're admitting how MANY people it's a factor for, but it's a start. Once you admit that these things influence a lot of people, it puts you on a path to realizing these things should not cause you to pursue drastic medical treatments

My interpretation of the "disgusting and unwanted" comment was actually that they're disgusting and unwanted so therefore they get off to taking what they want by force. Since it says "already" disgusting and unwanted it kind of implies to me that they're doing something a disgusting unwanted person would do. It doesn't really look any better no matter how you interpret it though

75% of domestic violence victims are women, and 95% of perpetrators are men (statistics vary depending on region, but they all follow a similar pattern). i wanted to make a piece about this domestic violence statistic and how it IS sexed violence, especially since some men think that pointing out patterns of sexed violence is “discrimination” against them. saw a post a while ago about how there seems to be a lot of movements about making sexed-violence (rape, IPV, prostitution) seem like it equally happens to both sexes when in reality women are more often than not the victims. but i included the first line because i’m not invalidating male victims.
