These baked cream cheese wontons are a healthier alternative to the traditional fried version. They're crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and perfectly paired with a savory dipping sauce.
Ingredients: 24 wonton wrappers. 8 ounces cream cheese, softened. 1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped. 1 teaspoon soy sauce. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. 1/2 teaspoon ginger, grated. 1 egg, beaten. Dipping sauce ingredients: 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 teaspoon honey, 1/2 teaspoon garlic, minced, 1/2 teaspoon ginger, grated, 1 tablespoon green onions, finely chopped.
Instructions: Preheat the oven to 400F 200C. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, green onions, soy sauce, garlic powder, and grated ginger. Mix until well combined. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture onto each wonton wrapper. Brush the edges of the wonton wrappers with beaten egg. Fold the wonton wrappers diagonally to form triangles, pressing the edges to seal. Place the filled wontons on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops of the wontons with a little more beaten egg. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. While the wontons are baking, prepare the dipping sauce by combining soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green onions in a bowl. Mix well. Serve the baked cream cheese wontons hot with the dipping sauce.
