“At least once a week.” It was said partially as a joke, the redhead leaning back to look at Kouki. If he hadn’t already been aware of the shit the kid’s been through, Theo definitely would have been wondering why he was talking like that. But he knew, and he could understand. “Though sometimes I find talking it out helps a bit. What’s on your mind?”

Allison gives the kid an odd look, then chuckles. The kid sounds serious. “No, I don’t,” he replies. “Believe what you want, but I don’t think magic is real. Maybe I’m jaded. Happens when you’re in my position. No, this almost looks like…” He pauses and frowns. “…I don’t wanna say.”
“Well, yeah. Duh. I just thought it’d be weird a detective thinks magic is real.” This was good. He just needed to make sure nothing could connect him to the attack, other than just pure bad luck. “If I remember something, I’ll give you a call. I should probably be getting home anyways.”

“Exactly what I was thinkin’, kid…” He sighs again and pulls a card out of his pocket. On it is printed all of his contact information. He holds it out to the redhead. “If you remember anything, call me. Tell your friends too. We HAVE to find out what the hell did it. Stuff like this doesn’t usually happen here… especially not this neighborhood. A lot of people could have gotten hurt.”
He had to admit, he didn’t actually expect the detective to agree with him. Sure, it wasn’t like magic was nearly non-existent; It was just so far out of the view of most people that it being a plausible explanation wasn’t really a thing. Maybe he was just being humored here.
Theo took the card, scanning over the contact information for a moment. “Uh... Yeah, I’ll be sure to.” What a lie. He knew everything, but the truth would probably get him institutionalized. A mental note was made to be more careful, though; Theo was trying to protect people, not get them hurt.
“...You don’t actually think that it was magic, do you?”

His amethyst hues shine with wonder at those words. He can use the healing ability on other people, that’s such a useful ability, Yuugi is happy for his soulmate to have such a thing and to be able to help both himself and others with it. “That’s so cool. That is really such a useful ability, I bet it definitely comes in handy.” As it currently is as the redhead heals himself a bit more and Yuugi can feel that the pain is less noticeable, still there enough to be annoying but it’s not horrible.
Stay here? But what about him, what if Yuugi could help somehow? “Wait do you need……Help…..?” He’s sure his words aren’t heard as the redhead darts off and the shield drops. All he can do now is watch in wonder as his soulmate summons a whip out of absolutely nowhere and takes the creature down to the ground with it.
Suddenly he realizes just how amazing his soulmate truly is in that moment, as his amethyst eyes follow every movement his soulmate makes, it brings a smile to his lips and makes his eyes shine with newfound happiness and it has warmth bubbling up in his chest.
It really didn’t take much longer for him to deal with the creature. The stab in his stomach had been a lucky shot; The monster itself was already weakened and tired, even with how ferociously it was fighting against Theo. Once he had it pinned, he was able to purify it.
And once the dust had cleared, Theo was standing there with no sign of the corrupted creature. Just a cat that he was holding now, returning to his soulmate’s side as he let his magi form shatter away. “I’d say that this doesn’t happen often, but that’d be a lie.” An obvious one, considering how often he gets hurt from the fights. No point in lying to the person who could share his pain.
Theo let the cat jump down before reaching out to help his soulmate back to his feet, a faint smile appearing on his face. “My name’s Theo.”

One of his own hands was hovering by the other males wound, his other hand clutching his own stomach that felt as if it was having the same exact pain he knew the other was having. The pain was enough to leave him gasping in all honesty but then his eyes widen, watching the others hand press against his wound and then glow green, even if only for a moment or so. A healing ability, something he’d been desperately hoping that the other male had.
He feels the relief as the wound heals and the pain fades a bit for both his soulmate and himself, though his soulmates pain was more important to him in this moment. “I…yeah that was obvious…Sorry.” He doesn’t have time to be embarrassed over his obvious statement as that shadow looming over them seems much more ominous and it makes him glance up and his stomach drops in fear, not for himself but for the male, his soulmate, that had just been injured and had only just healed himself.
His gaze snaps back to the redhead as the claw starts moving downward and then he’s grabbed and pulled close to his soulmate and then there’s a shield that the claw is bouncing off of, saving them from danger for the moment.
“It’s okay, I’m just happy to have met you and found you and to know you have a healing ability you can use on yourself, very happy about that one.”
He couldn’t help the wry smile that appeared at his soulmate’s response. Nobody could blame him; Theo got hurt way too often, and he could only imagine how much it would have sucked to constantly be in pain from his injuries. “Technically, I can use it on other people, too,” Theo quipped back, his hand returning to the injury on his stomach. Healing it a bit more, so that the pain was more of an annoyance than a distraction.
They could properly introduce themselves in a moment; There was still the fight he had to deal with, after all.
“Just stay right here. I’ll be done with this in a moment.” After getting hurt as badly as he had, and now with his soulmate in the thick of it... Yeah, he needed to take care of the corrupted monster sooner rather than later.
Theo dropped the shield before he darted off, his whip being summoned and almost immediately being wrapped around the creature’s neck. He was using it to pull the monster away from his soulmate, forcing it to focus on himself before yanking down into the ground.

His soulmate gets hurt, a lot. Yuugi couldn’t say anything though, seeing what all injuries he’s had in his life that he knows his soulmate has had to feel, knowing that there was a nagging possibility that his soulmate has felt his soul leave his body before and possibly felt cold dead silence until the return of his soul to his body. Yet, he’s always worrying when he feels the injuries, the agonizing pain that somehow goes away later but it never stops coming on other days.
He’s ended up watching something he only believed was something from a manga or just general fiction, a magical boy fighting something. Then the magical boy is stabbed and Yuugi feels pure agony in his stomach, the same place that the magical boy got stabbed. The other male falls and Yuugi, despite all the agony he feels from the injury that the other has and he is feeling due to their bond, he moves to him. Thus putting himself in danger to help his soulmate.
“You’re in so much pain.” Please have some kind of healing ability. Please. A shadow looms over them and Yuugi knows he’s in danger but so is his soulmate, who is right here with him, feeling the agony first hand while Yuugi feels it secondhand due to the bond.
He was used to pain at this point. His pain, his soulmate’s pain... Honestly, Theo felt bad for his soulmate. He always had; Whoever was unlucky enough to be linked to him would be hurting all the time. He tried to be careful, but it always seemed so unavoidable.
Granted, he knew his soulmate always seemed to be encountering weird things. There was no forgetting the panic when he thought he had lost them, when he couldn’t feel anything on their end. And then the relief he felt when he did feel them again.
Theo had to admit, though. It was a shock that anyone actually came running up to him when the monster managed to land a good hit on him. Too good. It hurt so much, the magi struggling to get back up as the other came to his side. “Ngh... N-No shit.” His arm braced against the injury for a moment before he actually pressed his hand against it. It made the pain spike, but only briefly. After all, Theo had gotten plenty of practice healing, if only to spare his soulmate the pain.
The green glow was brief, the pain fading a bit as the bleeding stopped. But there wasn’t enough time; His eyes darted up to the monster towering over them, claws raised to attack. He let out a curse, an arm darting out to grab onto his soulmate. Pulling him in close as a shield materialized above them, claws bouncing off of the crystal.
“Haa... Sorta hoped meeting you would be a bit more romantic than this.”

Alma smiles, glad he’d agreed. A lot of times, he’s gotten eyerolls for offering something so mundane. He still has his eyes on Theo’s face now, though; for as concerning as it was, the redness that had stretched all the way to his ears was sort of cute. That comment is also kept silent.
“Alright. I have some bottles in my bag.” He doesn’t specifically mention that he’d thrown his bag into a bush to hide it while they’d been fighting, but it’s pretty clear he does not have it on him now. “I can go grab it, unless you wanna walk back the way we came with me.”
Theo finally turned to face Alma again, the blush gradually fading as the focus was directed somewhere else. “We might as well go together.” It’d take a good bit for the other to get there, get the water, and come back... “We can pick another direction to patrol after a break from there, too.”
It seemed like this direction was clear, anyways. It wasn’t like corrupted creatures were subtle, after all.

Robins eyebrows raise slightly as Theo explains what the crystals are for. Those could definitely be useful, he’d have to find somewhere to keep it. It also made him wish his outfit had pockets with zippers on them, just so he could make sure it would stay in his pockets during fights.
“Oh, these’ll come in handy for sure!” He grins at the other, carefully tucking them into his pockets for now anyway. It was a little weird that Theo was being so nice to him, but Robin would take it. Any sort of progress like this was good in his mind.
“I can’t speak for Alma, but I’m like 90% sure I can’t.” At the very least, he was pretty sure nothing he had ever done had actually purified the corruption out of anything. “I’ll be sure to let you know when I do use it. And thank you!”
“Even if you guys can, it’ll help to have something as quick as this on hand.” Theo had even made sure to put as much of the pure magic as he could into the crystals. That way, if they ran into something stronger than usual, it should be able to do the job. Or, at the least, stun the creature enough for them to escape.
He didn’t want a repeat of what had happened to Serene or Deo.
His hands rested on his hips, glancing away for a moment. “Don’t worry about it. If you guys are going to be doing this shit, you might as well not get killed in the process.” They were all good people. They didn’t need to die for a cause like this. “That’s the only reason why I’m doing this.”

Robin was, in fact, looking for him. Or any of the others really. He tried to check in on them when he could, just generally keeping an eye out for them while he was patrolling. It was a bit nice to know there were others around now. Especially after having no one else to talk to about the whole thing for so long.
He had just landed quietly down behind the other Magi, when he turned around and shoved the crystals at him. Robins mouth was slightly open, as he and just been about to say hello. But he took the crystals, examining them with a curious and confused expression.
“Uh, yeah, sure. I can make sure he gets one.” He does finally look up, tilting his head in confusion as he does so. The other magi might be frowning but he didn’t seem to be angry or annoyed, so just what was up with him? “But, just what are they? Why are you giving them to us?”
“They’re my purifying crystals.” Theo expected the questions; He’d already been putting so much effort into pushing the others away. Plus, he was pretty sure Pulsar had never actually seen him purify anything... “Just put them against the corrupted’s forehead. The magic will do it’s own thing.” He pointed to his own forehead to demonstrate, before turning to grab the last crystal. That one, he was going to give to Kouki.
Even if the kid wasn’t a magi like the rest of them, Theo still wanted him to have some way to defend against the monsters. Just in case.
He let out a soft sigh, looking at the one he currently held. “I figured it wouldn’t hurt for everyone to have one,” the redhead explained, not quite willing to admit out loud just why he decided that. “Ser-... Soundwave’s magic doesn’t work without him focusing, and I don’t know if you and Alma can purify the corruption. Or what it’d take for you to do so. So I figured I’d give you guys something that could help.”
“They only work once, so let me know when you use it. I’ll make another one.”

Theo sensed the other magi before he actually saw him; He wasn’t sure if he was sensitive to their energies because of his experience or what, but it was easy enough to recognize. Not quite loud like Serene, but definitely...bouncy, for lack of a better word.
Perfect timing. For once.
He’d been busy, taking a break from patrol to prepare. Three crystals were hovering in front of them, each of them glowing a pure white while he took a close look at them. Making sure each had plenty of energy in them. When Pulsar got close, Theo grabbed two of them. Holding them out to the blue magi with a slight air of impatience.
“One’s for you, and one’s for Alma.” Theo finally turned to look at Pulsar, the frown on his face, for once, not holding any actual aggression behind it. “Make sure he gets it, okay?”

His expression only grows more concerned with the disjointed response he gets. Partially for Theo’s sake, and partially for his own. That ‘you’ sounded pretty angry; had his comments been too ‘weird’?
After a few seconds of waiting to see if the shouting was over, he speaks up again. “Do you want some water first? I haven’t seen you drink since we started that last fight.” Perhaps it was just the heat bothering him? Yeah, that must be it. “It’s good to stay hydrated.”
Christ, Alma was oblivious... But at least he didn’t seem to be focusing on what had actually gotten Theo flustered. No, he thought the redhead was thirsty. Which wasn’t a bad thing to think, if it wasn’t for the fact that Theo didn’t actually feel thirsty. He rarely did in his magi form.
Still, it was a distraction. “Ya know what? Sure. We should probably get some water.” And definitely not talk more about what Alma was just saying. Hell no, not tonight.

“I mean, I’ve been doing a good job of not doing that so far. I guess because I’m just, really quiet usually.” He lets out a soft sigh and shakes his head, a smile tugging at his lips again, which shows off a dimple of his. “My civilian self and magi self are night and day, it’s kind of funny, yeah?” They weren’t as night and day as he thought, if he just applied the confidence he had in his magi form in his everyday life, he’d be more like that too.
“Extra training though, that sounds like a good idea. Maybe I could hear things further out and who knows, bursting eardrums as a civilian could come in handy.” A small laugh slips past his lips as he shakes his head ever so slightly. “You do heal fast.” He’d observed that fact beforehand. He smiles once more when Theo brushes hair from his face, It’s sweet how thoughtful he is.
“Should I tell them it’s pink eye?” You know what maybe he did channel some of his magi side’s personality there. But, now he’s flushing red and feeling embarrassed over that stupid joke. His pink hues follow the crystal to Theo’s hand and then to his lips, watching as it changes colors and then is pressed into his hand. He’s a little confused at first, it shows all over his face but he makes a connection quick. Purifying, of course. Sometimes Serene just can’t get the focus he needs for his own, it’s hard after all.
“I’ll keep it always. It’ll be my good luck charm until I have to use it.”
“Not really.” Sure, Serene was quiet... But now that Theo was spending more time around him both in and out of their magi forms? He could see it. “I mean, yeah, you’re really quiet normally? But you’re still the same person.” Was it bad that he focused on Serene’s dimple a bit? He really should smile more. “You just...act differently, for some reason.”
Maybe it was because their magi forms were like ‘masks’. Nobody would be able to make the connection, unless they saw the magis switching between them. Sort of like what had happened with Serene and Theo.
There was an actual laugh at the joke that was made, his hand reaching up to cover his mouth for a moment. “Totally. It’s a rare kind that actually turns your eyes pink.” Theo supposed he was lucky that he ended up with a fairly normal color. Though some people had wondered about the change when it had happened.
Not including his parents, strangely enough... But, then again, they weren’t that attentive.
Theo blinked as Serene declared the crystal to be his good luck charm, his face flushing slightly with embarrassment. “Y...Yeah. I figured it’d be useful, especially if I can’t get to you quickly enough.” He didn’t want a repeat of what had happened last time.

Serene gives a sheepish smile, suddenly feeling bad that he’d done such a thing, though it was easier to forgive himself for it because he felt that Theo wouldn’t be mad at him. Serene was really coming out of his shell a bit with Theo, it must be because he was really getting used to him. He was still quiet about things but, he was more sure in his words now.
“That’s so cool.” He murmurs, then listens to Theo’s next set of words, pink hues attempting to follow the crystal as it twirls around his head. He laughs after a moment, without really thinking about it, but then shuts his mouth and smiles shyly about his whole slip up laughter. He’d been caught laughing at a twirling crystal, good job. “Like a video game, but more real. That’s interesting.” He did seem quite interested though, it was very nice to learn these things he didn’t know. “Good to know I could probably burst an eardrum in my civilian form too.” He tries at a joke, he’s never been sure of himself in them but when he’s with Theo, he feels himself wanting to try.
He leans in closer to the crystal, which only means he’s leaning in closer to Theo as well because the crystal is quite close to him after all. His eyes drift from the crystal and to Theo, taking note of the closeness but not moving quite yet. “Like the eyes and maybe how my hearing is really sensitive now?” He was the magi for sound after all.
It might not have been the best joke, but a smile still appeared on Theo’s face. It was cute, even if it might have come from a place of genuine concern. And, admittedly, the fact that Serene had been laughing at the crystal... It made the redhead want to do it a second time. “All the more reason a bit of extra training wouldn’t hurt.”
Ah, they were really close now... He gave a slight nod, humming as well in agreement. “Or the fact that I heal faster than most people.” There was a slight pause before Theo reached up with his free hand, brushing some of Serene’s stray hair out of his face. “By the way, if anyone ever questions your eyes? Just say it’s a ‘medical condition’. That normally makes them back off.” He’s done it enough times. Hasn’t failed him yet.
Theo let the crystal drop into his hand, pressing it against his lips. Almost instantly, the green changed into a plain white glow, soon pressed into Serene’s hand.
“Keep a hold of this. Just in case.”

Serene had fallen into this rhythm of going to see Theo and Theo seeing him, it was becoming quite a habit for him now, becoming part of his routine. One might not know this but, Serene enjoyed routines and if you managed to weasel your way into his routines then it just meant you were going to be stuck there then. It was late but he was starting to get a good read on Theo as a whole and was starting to learn all his spots, which was how he found him easily.
Pink hues watch him, he seems to be meditating maybe? But then his eyes are widening as he notices the small glowing crystal that takes form in Theo’s hand. They could use their powers outside of their magi forms? Serene hadn’t known anything about this yet but maybe it did explain something about why his hearing was much more sensitive since he’d become a magical boy. For someone so loud in his magi form, he approaches very quietly, settling down beside Theo, his hand reaching to touch Theo’s hand that has the crystal.
“I didn’t know we could use our powers outside of our magi forms.”
The touch on his hand startled Theo a bit, having forgotten that Serene would sometimes stop by. Granted, now that they knew, it was becoming a rather frequent thing... Thankfully, though, the crystal seemed undisturbed; He was getting better at his focus, it seemed.
“Ah... Yeah, we can.” It was probably a bit odd, having Theo not immediately lash out at another magi. “Our magi forms are honestly more of us...level up? It’s something we can do to use our powers easier.” He gestured with his hand, making the crystal twirl around Serene’s head as he spoke. “But it still bleeds over to our normal forms, too. Building it up this way seems to help both sides.”
He let the crystal come to ‘rest’ a short distance from his face. Even with the streetlights below, the glow seemed fairly bright in the shadows on top of the building. It probably didn’t help that his eyes shone as well, focusing on Serene now. “It’s part of the reason why other things changed about us, I think.”
Theo had made sure that it was late enough that very few people were out, even waiting on the roof of his apartment for a while to make sure. He just wanted to be sure that no one would see him practice, focusing on his powers outside of his magi form for a bit; It was a trick that he figured out a few years back, as a way to help his skills in both forms.
A small crystal appeared in his hand, glowing gently in the dark as it hovered a few inches above his palm. It spun in the air, following Theo’s hands when he started to move. Fluidly, but gradually moving faster, or having the crystal float farther away from his hand. It was just a simple exercise in precision...
But it was relaxing, too. Almost felt like meditating to him.

Theo looked like he was getting ready to head out. Now, unless he wanted to deal with more pointless fighting, it’d be a smart idea to stick with him. So he followed the older boy closely. Almost on his heels, really. Even as useful as it was to to him for energy, the sooner they got out of this place, the better things would get. Hopefully, anyway.
“Yeah… I kinda went nuts on the way in.” And that was putting it lightly. They were lucky that nobody got injured or worse when he came in like a bat out of hell and raged on like he did.
“He’s an asshole, too. I don’t like hurting people unless I absolutely have to, but I’d beat him with a treebranch. And he’s got a punchable face.”
“If he’s so scared of a cute kid like you, just imagine what he’ll think of me.” The grin that appeared on Theo’s face was almost mischievous, the redhead already planning to do more scaring than he was actual violence. Kouki had spent so long fighting to get into this cave. A place that had, more or less, been taken from him.
And all by a bunch of people who thought it was okay to call a kid a demon.
He held his hand out as they neared the cave entrance, his usual whip materializing and dropping onto his palm. “You don’t mind if I call myself your big brother for this, would you? I wanna see that guy’s face when he thinks he just pissed off the ‘demon’s older brother’.” Theo paused for a moment before reaching back, lightly patting Kouki’s head. “We can go back to my campsite for some s’mores once we’re outta here.”
