Astoria nibbled on her lower lip, narrowing her eyes when she noticed how the blonde girl was looking around. She found it a bit suspicious, especially since she had no clue who she was dealing with. Maybe the blonde was a daughter of Hermes, and all that glancing would definitely not cause a positive outcome. Astoria made herself decide if she wanted to threw one of her chips at her, or approach her. She picked second option. “What are you up to?” She inquired, smiling slightly as she didn’t want the girl to think she was rude.
Although she wasn’t aware that anyone was approaching her, Gemma pretended like she had been anyways and returned the polite smile back when she heard the other girl’s voice. “—I’m just having a little snack,” She responded, warmly, and stopped writing only to put her pen down on top of her journal to hold her spot for her. “Why? Did you want some?” She asked, motioning with her eyes down to the cheetos and cheese.
Gemma sat in the dining pavilion, writing in her journal. She's listening to music on her headphones and sometimes even feels the need to sing along quietly. There’s a big, half-full bag of flamin’ hot cheetos on the table and a small bowl full of melted cheese sitting next to it and every so often she’ll take a cheeto and dip it into the melted cheese, eating it happily before continuing on with scrawling down her thoughts with her pen. When she’s not eating or writing, she’s glancing around at the other campers; almost like she’s taking notes on her fellow demigods.
“I’d totally train with you, but my nails are still drying, and ruining them is just not worth it. Maybe some other time.”
“Cute colour,” Gemma pointed out with a tight smile as she awkwardly held onto the sword in her hand. She motioned with her head to the other girls’ nails. “But, I don’t think that monsters will really care if your nails are still drying, you know? Better to be prepared, right?”

I became good at pretending. I became so good that after a while the lines blurred between my truth and fiction. And sometimes, when I did a really good job of pretending, I even fooled myself.
