@cern-official why do most numbers to the power of 0 equal 1?
Could the Universe be a Simulation?
It’s likely. and extremely fascinating to think about. Science in my opinion is a never ending sequence of asking why and how things do what they do. A simulation is the best explanation I can think of to answer some of the unanswerable whys and hows. Why does the universe have a beginning? Why is there a limit to velocity? Why does matter have properties such as gravity?
because thats the way the universe is programmed. Think about it. Eventually (hopefully at least) we will have super computers that can run complex simulations just like our universe. Extremely powerful technology, yes, but I don’t think it’s unachievable. After all, almost all biological life on Earth is composed of a 4 ingredient coding called DNA. Theres a possibility that we’re just a science project for an alien and his equivalent of a 4th grade science project. Sims 3 or Grand Theft Auto V to us is our universe to them. I bet we’re infinitely fascinating, probably award winning entertainment. I like to think that they’re saying “oh shit he’s on to us” as I type this, but I will never be able to have proof because I am just a code in their program and anything I ever see or hear or feel is also coded.

The Story Telling of Science pt 1 -- If you love science then this is an amazing thing to watch. and you don't need to be super scientifically literate to get it either. I highly recommend this

This is insane. The fact that cancer existed this far back doesn’t surprise me but the evidence that has survived 1.7 million years blows my mind.

π. According to mathematician James Grime, we only need 39 digits of π to calculate the circumference of the known universe to the width of a hydrogen atom. (via sciencefriday) @solarsystem-official @cern-official

(louder) FUCK TRUMP
we at the ocean protection council do not endorse donald trump in any way, shape, or form
We the snakes do not support him at all either
the aliens are scared because they think they’re illegal aliens
Chemistry will have nothing to do with him, he came from something we’re scared to think about.
all the particles are running away from him
the ecosystem wants to kick his ass
@solarsystem-official How confident is the scientific community that life on Europa exists?
For some incomprehensible reason, many people think climate change is a hoax... yet there is no clear reason why so many people would fight global warming if they did not believe the world was in danger. And the world is.
The second graph shows how rapidly our climate is changing. In 46 years, the averages have increased to .6° Celsius above normal temperatures. A lot of biological life is in danger at this pace, including humans. Carbon emissions are at an all time high, and surprise, so are temperatures and extreme weather. The Earth is our only home, and some of us refuse to take care of it even though it’s the only thing we’ve got.

Official Family (update)
So I created the #officialfam, well I came up with the idea and wonderful people joined in. If there’s anything you’re passionate about, make an “official blog”
Current official fam (I most definitely missed a few people because my inbox is currently crazy, but let me know):
