eh. While I think there of course will be series in the future that will try to copy Madoka Magica’s formula in order to get viewers (I mean, that’s just going to happen. Any major hit franchise of any genre will have copy cats)

But I think the sugar-coated world of Magical Girls will remain no matter what.

Alot of people forget that Madoka Magica had a target demographic of an older audience that stays up late to watch anime, most typically made up of males in japan. And there’s some very mature themes that go on to match that.

Kids still need to watch magical girl shows too.

besides, alot of magical girl shows, even ones from the 70s, had darker moments, Madoka Magica just condensed all the emotions into 12 episodes rather that 50.

To be frank, I’m just glad there’s a growing number of magical girl shows made for older audiences in mind that don’t resort to unfunny parodies and fanservice.

Madoka Magica’s ending is actually pretty uplifting. maybe I’m in a minority there.
