I think you can start a female-centered community even if you are only one woman. Or if it's just you and a friend. This idea that we have to wait until every woman decides to cooperate or until the revolution builds itself, won't work. We FIRST build it ourselves, how we can, with whatever resources we have, then get in contact with each other and discuss how to progress, share our different experiences living in different communities all over the world, and THAT WAY we start building our international network. I think we need to throw away the idea that the conditions and money and time and weather and everything has to be perfectly aligned to work together towards our shared goal.
I think a lot of women like the idea of a whole separatist country (and i get it, me too!), but before that, we have to be happy with just being a small tribe of 2, 3, 4, or 5. We build from the ground up, not the other way around. I also think we (women, or maybe humans in general, not sure, it's a theory) generally work better when divided in smaller groups that center the specific necessities of individuals and cooperate with other groups, instead of trying to have one huge group. More women usually translates (talking from experience) into 3 or 4 out of 15 always dominating conversations, while the rest sometimes doesnt even have time to say half a word. It's complicated coordinating a gigantic group, and listening to everyone at the same time, or dedicating equal amounts of time to each topic of discussion. Men tend to silence voices of minorities and standardize or apply the same general rules to everyone, using "white adult male" as the standard. I don't want our community to replicate that! And it's easier than in seems to fall into those horrible ways, even when you think you are the most feminist woman of them all! I think we have to take into account every difference, and listen to every voice. Yes, in a gigantic group that might be borderline impossible, but that's what the division into smaller units is for.
trying to explain to tumblr that the Middle Class in not their enemy
saw someone say that someone complaining about only having 7k in savings makes them contemplate ādoing something badā
you know that 7k covers like. one hospital visit WITH insurance, right?
āpeople who make six figures shouldnāt be allowed to complain āā most people who make six figures are, these days, solidly middle class. where i live, a combined household income of $110k is *lower middle class*.
āpeople who can afford homes āā are typically 400-600k in debt for them. also if ācan own your own homeā is your threshold for the rich you are contemplating eating, i think you are genuinely stupid
āboohoo your investments dropped, stop complaining rich boyā idk how to tell you this but. most of us have a retirement account. you should probably open one
Vƶlur and viking women
People may think that the vikings were all about men and virility, but women played a big, if not bigger part than them in their society. For example, the Vƶlur (singular=Vƶlva), who were very important women. They were witches who always traveled with wands as big as walking sticks, which were burried with them at the time of their death. The name Vƶlva literally meansĀ āwand-wedā. They were unmarried wise women and priestesses, that served as healers and diviners, and were held in great esteem. In fact, they were so valued that they could travel alone with no fear, and be welcome to any village or hearth they passed by. A clanās chief would always let a Vƶlva sit at the end of the table, showing that she was a higher authority than them. Of course, the Vƶlur werenāt the only important females in viking society. There was also the Blótgydiur (sacrificial priestesses), and the Hóvgydiur (temple priestesses), who were devotees of the god Freyr, and were considered his wives.Ā
Village women were also very valued, and were in charge of the household money because they were believed to be magic and have the hability to see in the future. When a viking man mistreated his lady, she was allowed to cut off his genitals and hang them in her home. If a woman divorced her husband, HE would be the one shamed for being divorced, because he didnāt treat his wife right. Men werenāt even allowed to touch a womanās hand if she hadnāt agreed to it or he would be punished by law. Viking women were strong and always ready for battle. In fact, a recent archeological discovery has proved that half the viking warriors were female. The remains found in burial sites were first misidentified and thought to be male skeletons, just because they were buried with swords and shields. But studying osteological signs of gender within the bones, reaserchers discovered that aproximately half the skeletons belonged to women, who were given a proper burial with their weapons.Ā
With that being said, let there be no more of misogyny in the norse pagan community.
I literally feel like a teacher writing a huge ā on a student's paper everytime I go to protests lately. Why are we gathered at a prolife contra protest and you have a sign with "LGBT education in schools" written on it. Why are you shouting an environmentalist slogan. This is a pro choice protest. Why are you fragmenting the group with unrelated topics? Are you a fed? Why does every protest lately have to be a buy one get one free type of event? Why is it that when our reproductive rights are threatened we feel the need to also bring up barely related topics and take away the focus from the problem at hand?
iām going to be really honest with you guys i think the tendency to read the absolute worst possible intentions into every action you donāt agree with is getting too automatic and itās eating you from the inside out
PSA: don't blame yourself for feeling aroused by pornography and misogynistic kinks. First of all, the fact that you consciously dislike it already means you don't want it ā everyone who tells you otherwise thinks like a rapist. And also we live in a society oversaturated with images of female sexual degradation ā it would be more surprising if you actually weren't influenced by it in one way or another. Where are you even supposed to get an idea that it doesn't have to be that way? Even fem"dom" is hardly about women being dominant over men. You are not to blame for not developing a healthy sexuality in a world that desperately doesn't want you to. This can be fixed, but with a deliberate effort and power of will, because it requires going against the current.
Always remember that itās very easy to condition sexual arousal, and it is never your fault for being groomed! Even if you sought it out, even if you used to like it. Whatever reason, it was never your fault.
Especially with the rise of girls being exposed to the internet at increasingly younger ages, we need to try and break the cycle for those girls.
You cannot help others if you have not helped yourself! Practice self love and self forgiveness. Be kind to your past self!
part of the reason why itās hot as fuck is because thereās no plants and fucking trees. yall keep building shit and getting in the fucking way. LET THE DAMN PLANTS GROW??? you put all this concrete down everywhere, you destroy the ecosystem, now youāre wondering why earth is whopping our asses???? š like iām not saying trees are gonna solve every little thing but what the fuck?

These pescatarian birds are directly exposed to PFAS contamination due to the island's position near the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Over fifty years of data show a peak in PFAS (also known as "forever chemicals") content in seabird eggs in the 90s, followed by a decrease as regulations went into effect. The most recent findings show a 70% decrease of most common PFAS.
While continued vigilance a regulation is needed, this data indicates that regulations are working to reduce PFAS concentrations in marine ecosystems.
Yes!!!! I did a review of literature on PFASs in human drinking water about half a year ago, and there is a lot of really good progress! Please celebrate this, please don't let this solution be forgotten (at least so quickly) as the ozone layer or acid rain.
We are making genuine progress! Producers are dramatically altering how much they use PFAS and how much gets released in effluent, but also there's a lot better understanding of how to remove PFAS from the environment!
Environmental problems CAN BE SOLVED.
it's really is like there's a torture machine for women and everybody knows about it and it's called the Women's Torture Machine and everyone's like "yesssss let's put women in the torture machine" so they teach little girls to embrace the torture machine and they force every woman they can inside & every so often there's someone who isn't a woman but shares enough characteristics w society's constructed definition of womanhood that they're are like "close enough into the torture machine you go" & anytime a woman goes "it's unforgivably evil that women have to live w the threat of the torture machine" people on tumblr dot com go "ummmm actually it's not just women that get put in the torture machine are you a terf"
And some men go "And i get turned on by going in the torture machine, so I would like to go in it sometimes for fun. So if you turn off the machine you're transphobic."
If youāre pining you need to stop and pick a different tree. You know, spruce it up a little
Iām still proud of this post. Itās evergreen
It's not my thing, but I'm not going to be a birch about it.
