I’m having bunny thoughts rn and your hunger games post made me think about a fem!Kenny au. I see a lot of fem!Butters portrayals, but not the other way around, unless it’s Princess Kenny. It’s pretty interesting on how he’d interact with the main gang. Would she be a bit of a tomboysh, scrappy girl? Would she be likewise dirty-minded? How close would they be in that scenario, since they’re perpetually stuck in the girls-have-cooties phase, except for rare occasions when they team up with the other girls and even then, they serve as love interests. Most of all, I’m curious on how her relationship with Butters would develop. He’s pretty misogynistic and while he’s very enamored with his gfs in the beginning. He seems to get obsessive and crash if things don’t work out. It’d be especially interesting if there’s another layer of Kenny (Kelly?) using him a bit at the beginning, since he also tends to do that as a guy as well. Not to mention, wouldn’t Butters get really jealous if she was a bit boy-crazy? Would there still be the same amount mutual respect between them out of difficult life situations? Gotta admit fem!Kenny also sprung out, because I’m reading asoiaf rn and I’m thinking that Butters would kinda be acting like Littlefinger there. Causing disarray in the realm over his crush + people who scorned him in the past is very Vic Chaos-coded.
Aww hell fucking yes, I love thinking about fem!Kenny hehehe
First of all, true; the boys are all stuck perpetually in the "girls have cooties"-phase, which is something I eagerly explore in my Strike Four fic where Kyle is afab and trans. He has a really hard time being included in the boys' group while they see him as a girl, and even so when they see him as a guy because he isn't gender-conforming in a lot of "relevant" ways (not including appearance expression). It's a really interesting dynamic to explore, however I feel like this stems more from Kyle's character itself who doesn't really conform to a lot of traditional boyish behaviors and mindsets, especially in later seasons as the characters grow and mature (which is why I enjoy the trans Kyle hc).
Kenny is a different matter altogether, he is much more unapologetic than Kyle in many ways and seeks social approval much less as well, he just does his thing and doesn't explain anything about it to anyone (prime example: Princess Kenny, however there are many such instances in the show that are less on the nose). Plus, Kenny conforms to masculine "boys will be boys"-standards more as well due to his unapologetic horniness and lack of general moral qualms. Regarding fem!Kenny's dynamic with the boys, I suppose it depends on whether she is afab or transfem.
Transfem Kenny
I enjoy this one more because it fits into canon and Kenny's push and assertion for unrestricted, nonconforming gender-self-expression and acceptance in the Black Friday trilogy-- a narrative common in trans experiences. So as transfem, Kenny'd have likely been friends with the boys all along in the same way as in canon and not much would change after socially transitioning. To the boys this is simply still Kenny, whether he or she dresses and expresses differently doesn't matter as long as she is still down to throw cow shit at cars with them.
AFAB Kenny
With afab Kenny I see her fitting into the boys' circles much easier than, say, afab Kyle as well, for the reasons listed above about their respective personalities. I could well imagine in early kindergarten and elementary school they don't even realize Kenny isn't a boy because of how she covers herself up and because she's-- as you say-- scrappy, wild and down for all their shenanigans. I think she'd definitely be likewise dirty-minded because of the way she was raised (no parental controls, posters of naked women and magazines lying around the house, parents dgaf if the kids hear them fighting and/or having sex, etc.) which gives her even more of a "masculine" edge. I could well imagine her simply being accepted as "one of the boys", things said about her like "Yeah Kenny doesn't count, she isn't really a girl anyways" (even if she explicitly identifies as one and, as in canon, has her hyperfeminine qualities and moments as well).
Butters & Fem!Kenny
God do I love thinking about bunny with fem!Kenny, especially considering Butters' crush on princess Kenny is canon. Butters, I think, is obsessive and jealous regardless of the gender of his partner, but you're right that this takes on a different quality when his partner is a girl due to his misogyny. However I do think that Butters has shown in canon that he has the capacity for change and recognition of his own misguided actions, ideals and mistakes, it sometimes just takes the right nudge for him to realize. Fem!Kenny I think could challenge a lot of his views on girls & women, especially considering that-- either transfem or afab-- Kenny is in no way shape or form a traditional girl and wouldn't simply submit to Butters' bullshit when it comes down to it.
Granted, I haven't read ASOIAF or watched a single GOT episode so I have no knowledge of who Littlefinger is, however re: "Causing disarray in the realm over his crush + people who scorned him in the past is very Vic Chaos-coded" HARD agree. Butters seems to me like the kind of guy who would worship the hell out of his girlfriend/partner-- especially if it's Kenny--; he'd commit mass slaughter for her, spend all his money on her, call her his princess and kiss her hand before he turns around and uproots millions of lives for her (all things that to a good extent he has actually done for Kenny in canon lmfao). And I do also really like the narrative of fem!Kenny using his devotion for her at first before she falls and her feelings become something more genuine. All with a likely dose of toxicity in their relationship as well, given Kenny's boy/girl-craziness and Butters' obsessive, fear-of-abandonment and likely jealous nature. But with time, their mutual respect and genuine care for each other would develop and soon enough they're the worst couple to be around in history
Oh my god thank you for such a detailed reply! This will be consuming my thoughts for a while
