My thoughts after Love, Simon
I just saw Love, Simon. It was obviously a tearjerker anyway, so I cried. But it meant so much more to me. As a kid who was outed, I’ve heard the whispers and seen the stares and been the victim of harassment. And it sucks.
But Love, Simon gave me hope. It gave me hope that maybe, one day, I won’t have to look over my shoulder to see if someone’s whispering about me, that one day I’ll be free to be me.
So thank you, everyone who was involved in that film. It means so much to everyone, and it meant a lot to me.
Glad you got something really positive out of it.
I related so hard to this movie because I was outed by a classmate who I thought was a friend and it nearly ruined my life - I was taken out of classes for my own safety, I had glass bottles and rocks thrown at me, I ate my lunch in a supervised classroom rather than the canteen…but this movie made me forget all of that, because I may not have a Blue of my own, but it gives me hope that someday every gay kid can find someone who loves them and friends who support them
I can't believe I've only seen this now it must have been literal months and I'm sorry about that but I just wanted to say that I'm proud of you for being strong and working through it sweetie.
