‘Language, Baby. These are my parents we are talking about.’, Evie stated with a kind voice as she her furrowed her eyebrows. She moved her hand up to adjust the nasal cannula for the other girl to get better access to her lips as she puckered them out for additional help. ‘Heavens, are you sure we’re talking about the same person here?’, Evie spoke, a light shade of pink appearing on her nose and spreading down to her cheeks., ‘I-I think I can take care of myself. Plus, Sylvia was always the beauty between us. ‘

Evie: Yes, sure. If that's what you'd like to do. Thanks.

He didn’t even expect her to have anything to really follow up on after he’d spoken but she did and he just shrugged. “Oh, kid. We are all demented and sad in our own little ways. Especially those Vixen barbies. That’s why its so fucking easy to ignore them when they think they are insulting me. I’ve heard far worse.” Looking toward the girls who seemed proud of their daily dose of lame insults he just turned to Evie. He let out the remaining puff of smoke before tossing the cigarette. “I don’t know, it’s pretty bad to be able to relate… I guess. “ He knew what happened to her sister, any Serpent did but he was not very good at showing sentiment or comfort so he was pretty lost on how to change the subject so this didn’t turn into him needing to awkwardly apologize for her loss. “What are you doing today…”
Her eyes filled up with amusement for a slight amusement as she reached up to adjust her nasal cannula as a tiny laughed escaped passed Evie’s lip. It’d been the first laugh in the past few weeks, and she felt very appreciative for the taller Serpent in that moment. ‘ Kid?’, she questioned, a peculiar expression on her face., ‘ I hope you realize, Sweet Pea. I’m older than you! And I don’t doubt you’ve worse, but I wish people were far kind to all of the Serpents. Though Evie’s heart was shattered that didn’t mean her personality changed fully---she was still the kind hearted girl she’d always been though sadness seem to be the one emotion sinking in lately. ‘I’m either going to go to walk in the Southside or go to Pop’s. I haven’t really decided yet.’, she shrugged simply, looking at him with tired eyes, ‘Care to tang along?’

Sweet pea threw his boots on the bench and leaned back, there had been a comfort in his lounge even though he had just been called out by one of the snooty Vixens for smoking so close to them it hadn’t even occurred to him why. “Demented and sad.” He said with a laugh and shook his head looking at the girl that had been near him. The only reason he knew who she was because of her sister’s involvement with the Serpents. “They called me demented and sad. That’s only half of what I am. I’m demented and sad, but social.”
Tugging along her breathing tank, Evie had taken a walk to clear her mind for like the sixteenth times this week. It just seemed to be the one things that kept her mind at ease—but her lungs weren’t always the biggest fan of it. She’d taken notice of how mean the Vixens had been towards the taller Serpent. She figured it would be best to check in on him. Before the words could form out of her mouth, she quirked her head to the side as he spoke. ‘ Demented and sad?’, she questioned, her voice coming out more as a whisper, ‘Demented and sad is something I can relate too, but I don’t think I can picture you as that.’

“Well, some of us are still concerned anyway.” He admitted, he knew he definitely was. He kept her stare as she looked at him and admitted that she hadn’t done anything wrong. “I know..” He muttered as she spoke. “Life and pain comes around and affects the wrong people sometimes, Sylvia didn’t deserve this and neither do you, but that’s not on you. It has nothing to do with the kind of person you are, you’re one of the only truly great people in this shitty town.” He was a writer, but here with Evie he couldn’t think of the right words. He didn’t often have to deal with his friends experiencing such grief and pain. “Take it from someone who has parents that don’t acknowledge me 99% of the time and when they do it’s never been great, making your own family outside blood is sometimes the best way to get through life. You have to take care of you and hope they’re going to do the same for themselves.”
‘You’re truly my savior, Jughead Jones.’, she spoke, reaching over to take his hand briefly before setting them back in her lap and staring off into the distance. Lately, Evie’s mind seemed to make her more distant and envelope her in sadness which was highly unlike her usual personality. It knew that it broke her parents to see her in such pain, but she couldn’t help it. With the last hope of courage, Evie knew that she needed to pull herself back together but she felt so broken and vulnerable in these past few weeks. There was no telling if the darkness was going to suck her whole or not, but she was stronger than she knew. ‘ Life does some pretty messed up things to people who don’t deserve it.’, she spoke after turning to stare back at him. ‘Do you want to go do something?’ Maybe, keeping her mind preoccupied would somehow help her heal.

Some blush was being blotted across Evie’s round cheeks giving them a slight pinkish tone. It had been about Twenty minutes into Baby’s makeover on the girl. She had suggested it just for fun, to see the girl with a new look as she had noticed a change in the girl. “You are going to look so pretty, I promise. And I never break a promise. I’m going to make you irresistible. A jaw dropper.” She paused looking at the girl with a soft smile. “You do trust me don’t you?”
‘But what if my parents get mad?’, Evie pleads ,squirming in the chair before letting out a hefty sigh. After all the events that plagues her life recently, she felt like it was best if she lived as a normal teenage girl for once. Though the poor girl had anxiety rode all in her head, she let out a simple sigh before learning to just give in. ‘I never thought I’d be remotely even closed to anything near the word irresistible.’, she stated with a small smile before nodding, ‘Yes, of course I do.’

Evie traced her finger over a single photograph as she watched down as her sister’s smiling face. Sylvia’s arms were wrapped around the serpents, and her the poor girl’s mind was trapped with all the memories from her sister’s initiation to her final moment with her. ‘Was she happy her last moments?’, she seeks, her eyes barely leaving the picture for a moment before glancing up towards the boy in front of her., ‘I know that you guys made her very happy.’

valerie gently placed a hand upon her shoulder, rubbing her back softly. ❝ of course i’ll stay, girl… can i get you anything? some takeout or something? i-i’m so sorry, eve. ❞ she finally walked around to face her, hand still resting upon her shoulder.
A small, forced smile appeared on Evie’s features. the appreciation in her eyes was definitely apparent as she shrugged. ‘Thanks, Val. Um, would you want to go on a walk?.’, she responded, gripping her breathing tank as she got up., ‘That always seems to help clear my mind. Plus, my lungs could probably use some exercise.’

“Two and four, at least you’re going through it.” He mumbled out, knowing that she’d be going through this grief for a long while. You don’t love someone as much as those sisters loved each other and just recover from it in no time. He tried to cover the surprised expression that immediately popped onto his face when she started swearing. “Hey, don’t believe that. Yeah, Sylvia was strong, but I said it before and I’ll say it again, you’re badass, you’re strong and the fact that you’re pushing through all of this right now just proves that.” He let out a little sigh. “You are and will always be a part of the family, Serpent rule two, if a Serpent is killed or imprisoned, their family will be taken care of. It’s how I found my way in and we’ll always be there to take care of you.”
‘If I wasn’t then, that’s when everybody would be concerned.’, she stated seriously. Her thoughts began to cloud as her brain rushed memories into her minds. Evie couldn’t believed how much she had cried the past few weeks and just when she believed she was out of tear---boom, more appeared! Literally, they could write entire novel soaked up in her own tears. ‘That’s the thing, Jug.’, she said, her eyes turning to look him dead in the eyes, ‘ I didn’t ask for this. I’ve done nothing but good in my life, and where does this lead me?’ Evie had never been an angry person, choosing instead to always be kind even when people didn’t deserve it. She’d always felt being kind was the best solution, but now it currently felt like her life was being torn apart. ‘But, that’s the thing Mum and Dad are so distraught over Syl, yet I feel like they don’t understand that more people are hurting.’, a meek smile crossed her lips as reached over to look at him.
