Hello writeblr, I am Cypher and i like putting my characters in messed up situations. I am a teen girl (ofc) and I am not artistic, so bear with me.

Cherry (My first ever OC, written in outsiders)

Clara (From the Hunt, she was born from one of my nightmares and I love her!)

Jade (My favorite, imagine Deadpool as a teen girl)

Lilith (In the sequel to Dutchess of Death, Lilith gets introduced as Jades daughter (Jade being death))

Týr (hard to explain, daddy issues major, abandonment issues, trust issues galore. And a total badass. Inspired by Loki and Hela in Greek Mythology (not from Marvel lmao))

Katrina (Found her parents dead, became her younger brothers caretaker when she was 16. I wanted to write a character who SH cause I do. Pacifist. Morally strong, many dellemas)

Kieran (Jade's nephew not much to say as i haven't writehim much)

Rune (Goddess of knowledge, need I say more?)

Sage (Chaotic witch, the bane of Runes existence, also traumatized.)

Seraphine (Burnt out gifted kid. Super fukin smart and full of anxiety. Commitment issues galore. She can hit on people and be super effective, but then she gets scared that the person will wanna date her, queen of ghosting.)

Hera & Zeus (the voices inside Jades head, sounds like Jades parents. Hera is amazing and smart. Zeus is Childish and compulsive.)

Athena (Everyone's protective mother. Grew up in foster care and got emancipated at 17, activist, gives voice to the voiceless (aka children) because if only someone would have listened to her when she was a kid...)

Nick (A Phoenix, was on the street and clueless as they grew up in a dome. Took a human form and found their way to a city. Athena found them and took him in.)

Tommy (Seraphine's son, just like Kieran, I haven't written him much)

I am an amateur writer, I have so many WIPs like Ugh. I do write fanfics using some of my OCs occasionally. I've got no clue how to write romance or do worldbuilding. I am not frequent with posts as I do have school and am studying for an Engineering degree some day. I am also dyslexic so spelling errors are expected and corrections are appreciated.

Note: A lot of my storys are projections so all the community's represented are ones I am a part of. I would never do anything to purposefully harm these community's.

No body asked but here are the rules for my new story!

THE HUNT:

- The prey is the first-born daughter of the hunter.

- The game is generational, many families who don't have a daughter or an alive father don’t play the game even though it runs in their family.

- The game usually runs on the father's side.

- The hunt starts at a random interval, when it is deemed fair.

- The hunter and the prey both have 365 days

- The hunter has to kill the prey before the 365 days are up.

- The only way for the hunter to win is to kill the prey

- The prey can evade the hunter in any way deemed necessary

- The prey does not need to kill the hunter to win

- If the hunter is deemed to be too merciful, then the GM will enact a punishment on both the prey and hunter.

- If the prey wins, both stay alive but the prey keeps the “reward”

- The hunter gets to keep his reward once the prey is fully killed, any revival restarts the game.

Writing advice from my uni teachers:

If your dialog feels flat, rewrite the scene pretending the characters cannot at any cost say exactly what they mean. No one says “I’m mad” but they can say it in 100 other ways.

Wrote a chapter but you dislike it? Rewrite it again from memory. That way you’re only remembering the main parts and can fill in extra details. My teacher who was a playwright literally writes every single script twice because of this.

Don’t overuse metaphors, or they lose their potency. Limit yourself.

Before you write your novel, write a page of anything from your characters POV so you can get their voice right. Do this for every main character introduced.

This is legit good writing advice, especially the first bullet point! In playwriting class we did a bit where every bit of dialogue had to be an accusatory question and it was glorious.

Good Traits Gone Bad

Exploring good traits gone bad in a novel can add depth and complexity to your characters. Here are a few examples of good traits that can take a negative turn:

1. Empathy turning into manipulation: A character with a strong sense of empathy may use it to manipulate others' emotions and gain an advantage.

2. Confidence becoming arrogance: Excessive confidence can lead to arrogance, where a character belittles others and dismisses their opinions.

3. Ambition turning into obsession: A character's ambition can transform into an unhealthy obsession, causing them to prioritize success at any cost, including sacrificing relationships and moral values.

4. Loyalty becoming blind devotion: Initially loyal, a character may become blindly devoted to a cause or person, disregarding their own well-being and critical thinking.

5. Courage turning into recklessness: A character's courage can morph into reckless behavior, endangering themselves and others due to an overestimation of their abilities.

6. Determination becoming stubbornness: Excessive determination can lead to stubbornness, where a character refuses to consider alternative perspectives or change their course of action, even when it's detrimental.

7. Optimism becoming naivety: Unwavering optimism can transform into naivety, causing a character to overlook dangers or be easily deceived.

8. Protectiveness turning into possessiveness: A character's protective nature can evolve into possessiveness, where they become overly controlling and jealous in relationships.

9. Altruism becoming self-neglect: A character's selflessness may lead to neglecting their own needs and well-being, to the point of self-sacrifice and burnout.

10. Honesty becoming brutal bluntness: A character's commitment to honesty can turn into brutal bluntness, hurting others with harsh and tactless remarks.

These examples demonstrate how even admirable traits can have negative consequences when taken to extremes or used improperly. By exploring the complexities of these traits, you can create compelling and multi-dimensional characters in your novel.

Stucky losing was so upsetting, especially in an AO3 top relationships bracket, since it has been a top 100 ship for so long

But now I’ve learned that the fandom from OFMD paid for votes…

And still barely won against a ship that isn’t even canon

Fr using real money to get a ship to barely surpass another and still losing is so funny please

And like, no hate to the OFMD fandom or shippers whatsoever, it’s actually a series I want to start, but it’s still so funny to me LMFAO

(Especially since Stucky got double karma with Gentlebeard losing during the next round and the show being cancelled. [I kind of am upset about the cancellation because, although I’m not a fan or in any way aware of 90% of what happens, it seemed to be a big thing and it’s sad to see queer rep ending up being cancelled :(]

But oh well, my Stucky heart is still happily singing the victory whistle)

Skip Google for Research

As Google has worked to overtake the internet, its search algorithm has not just gotten worse.  It has been designed to prioritize advertisers and popular pages often times excluding pages and content that better matches your search terms 

As a writer in need of information for my stories, I find this unacceptable.  As a proponent of availability of information so the populace can actually educate itself, it is unforgivable.

Below is a concise list of useful research sites compiled by Edward Clark over on Facebook. I was familiar with some, but not all of these.

Google is so powerful that it “hides” other search systems from us. We just don’t know the existence of most of them. Meanwhile, there are still a huge number of excellent searchers in the world who specialize in books, science, other smart information. Keep a list of sites you never heard of.

www.base-search.net is one of the most powerful researches on academic studies texts. More than 100 million scientific documents, 70% of them are free
