I have thoughts on the way transmasc coded characters are treated in media and I'm trying to figure out how to properly articulate it

Specifically I'm thinking the way masculinity is allowed for "women" but only if it's temporary, only if there's an end. A woman can take on a man's role but only if it has an expiration date. The vast majority of stories where a female character lives as a man (or even one's with explicitly trans male or transmasculine characters) they must either detransition/return to femininity or die at the end, even in stories that are otherwise "progressive" on trans topics

This is also how it is in real life in a way, you can play with masculinity, you can be a tomboy but the world around you says this is only a game and the moment you take it seriously it must be snuffed out. Tomboys must grow up, female cross dressers must marry men, trans men must die. Idk I don't have anything insightful to say on it. It's just like I read a story recently where the main character lived to adulthood and was able to stay a trans man and I realized it was the first time I had seen it that I could remember
