Wish I could enjoy the MCR liveposting but it’s always a deluge of parasocial chasers misgendering Gerard Way like crazy. It’s been 0 days since the last MCR fandom treating pronouns like a joke incident.
Yes, as a nonpassing, medically transitioned, nonbinary, very gnc trans person, it makes me legitimately triggered anytime anyone else around me is misgendered or treated like “we know better than you about your own body/identity.” Plus there’s that extra “but it’s all for fun!! I’m queer too!” excuse as though regular degular cis transphobes don’t also have fun and get their rocks off by misgendering us. I get this fucking constantly IRL and I’m weary from seeing it repeated here for your apparent entertainment. Deciding new pronouns for a stranger (or anyone!) is fucked up and wrong.
MCR fandom is becoming an unsafe and miserable place for trans, gnc, questioning, and closeted people. Today I contemplated straight up deleting this decade+ old blog for the very first time because I’m so tired. I wish I was getting to enjoy the new tour too! but I think I’m going to block all tags, unfollow people, and possibly abandon this blog for good. Idk. And it sucks that so many fantastic fan artists consider transphobia to be part of their hobby.
GNC people are not a joke. We are not incomplete. And even when we are eggs, breaking us is very harmful and selfish. And disrespecting our pronouns at any stage is wrong. I hope that even if it’s true that he is not public with every single aspect of his identity, that he’s realized that none of y’all deserve to know.
Gerard Way won’t see the majority of your “fun” misgendering, but your trans friends and followers do. Fuck you. Truly.
