A little over two years ago we had a little girl. She's beautiful. Here are some family moments. Mostly staged moments.

The Adventures of Captain Grace!

The Neverland Pirates will be joining her tomorrow on Halloween. 

When I asked Grace what she wanted to be for Halloween she immediately said, “A purple pirate.” A little selfish part of me was hoping to keep with the theme of DC super women (who doesn’t like a theme that runs for years), but as a wise woman said, “Won’t it mean even more to you to make it if this is the first year she really asked to be something?”

She was correct. Grace has told me she loves it, and has thanked me for making it a few times today. My heart.

Family Portrait. 

Now that’s nerdy. This is going to end up in some “worst family portraits ever” Buzzfeed list for sure. I love it Randy.

Not only did my pal Randy come over Sunday morning and do a shoot, he even took the time to do an edit that I love, with a sky shot he took close to our house. Awesome.

A Visual History of Make Believe and Playing Dress Up.

We can do better than dividing playtime into pink and blue. Strong adults need strong role models. I’m very proud that a lot of Grace’s imagination goes into rescuing people in trouble and exploring the planets. She can pretend to be a princess anytime she wants, but since little girls are bombarded with princess themes everywhere you look, I feel like presenting plenty of other options is one of the most important things my wife and I can do.

Some final touches. 

While taking a break from cleaning my garage, I replaced the pic in the family version with a much sneakier Bat Grace (I like it a lot better) and fixed a few things I found on both sets when I did print proofs. These are the things that I can’t let go... looks towards pile of unwashed dishes...

Looking back at Bat Grace!

I had a lot of fun making posters of Wonder Grace after my friend Randy took photos of our Halloween costumes this year, so much so, that I revisited the photos I took last year around Halloween. It was a busy time, and I never did really do anything with them so I thought I should correct that!

I had to work this in somehow. 

The Invisible Jet is cool and all, but maybe not the most practical form of travel. Plus, she can already fly. Oh well ;)

Wonder Grace.

These are all of my favourites from the costume fitting on the weekend. I shortened the suit by about 3 inches between the shoulders, waist and crotch, so I think we're in good shape for Saturday ;)
