the funniest thing about the “i was dreaming about sasuke” scene (and every other scene like it) is that naruto is trying to have an iruka conversation with yamato. and it’s like sweetheart. honey. angel. that’s the wrong parental figure/guardian. the man cares but he was raised in the dungeons of konoha and discovered the full depth and extent of human emotion like 8 years ago

I always headcanon that being from Root, like Sai, he probably grew up with a lack of awareness on what feelings were, but still wanted to understand and feel them, probably having a hard time interpreting his own. So now as an adult, he totally gets what a big deal feelings are, especially one like LOVE, so in this particular moment is like “feelings are precious, why would you lie about that!!!”

as a long-time fanfic reader, I’ve decided to finally adopt the saying “write the fanfiction you want to read” and here are my initial thoughts after cracking through the first 2K words:

1. Holy hell I’m having so much fun (I wasn’t sure if I’d be as immersed being the writer versus the reader?)

2. The amount of tiiiiiime it takes (at least for me) to write just a small scene/exchange despite having a huge plot outline to get through…so much respect for all you writers out there taking the time and effort to make your wonderful stories. What do you mean it took me til 3am to write 2 scenes…

3. I’ve never had more tabs open in my life. Every 5 seconds I’m googling stuff like “how old are these characters at this point in canon” and “what that one building looked like”
