Katniss and Gale aren’t the only ones who hunt in District 12.
Katniss says that most people aren’t brave enough to go into the woods with only a knife. And some people cross the fence to pick apples.
But Katniss explicitly states “Most of the Peacekeepers turn a blind eye to the few of us who hunt because they’re as hungry for fresh meat as anybody is”.
Meaning more than her and Gale. They might not being as successful as them but other people do in fact hunt/ gather too.
It’s a small detail but an important one.
It’s speaks the defiant and resilient nature of District 12, people who are pushed so far to the brink of death.
When bent the people of District 12 don’t break they snap back.
today i wrote zero words! but i did think about my story twice in passing. that probably counts for something
If the original hunger games triology would have been narrated by young Haymitch we would probably know under which star constellation Peeta's brothers were born.
Awww they are such little cuties 🥺
Again please people don't be hateful towards these two they are just little girls I'm reminding you again don't hate on these little girls please they are obviously very sweet
They remind me so much of my niece honestly it's destroying me 😭
Child actors and children in general are my biggest weaknesses
Again I'm reminding people to not hate on them
Truly drives me feral that "real or not real" involves Peeta verifying facts from before he was hijacked. And then the books end on "you love me, real or not real" because both he and Katniss now know it's a fact of life that Katniss loved him all this time.
the way suzanne saw people romantically shipping haymitch and maysilee for years and said i’ll give you something even better. that’s actually his mean girl sister that he loathed for years and then grew to love like family! easily one of the best dynamics in the series

58 year old tyrannical President Snow choking to death on the poison he consumed to murder the parade master
Teenage Haymitch:
Here's the thing.
I'm not particularly mad about them casting white girls as Louella and Lou Lou.
I was hoping for them to be girls of indigenous descent, and I'm a bit disappointed, but Lenore Dove was the one who would have legit bothered me, because "brown girl as beloved partner" was the thing the movies had conspicuously avoided doing, by casting previous films the way they did. "Brown girl as unfortunate young casualty" was something we already got in Rue, so I can tolerate white Louella and white Lou Lou. And obviously it's never the actors' fault for being cast.
BUT, while I'm not mad at that, I am annoyed by how many people I've seen crawl out of the woodwork to go, "Unpopular opinion, but that's how I always imagined her," as a rebuttal to people who imagined her brown.
And let's be clear, it's not because I think it's wrong to imagine Louella as white while reading. (Though it does bring back the discourse around Seam features.)
No, the thing that annoys me about it is the prospect of thinking that sanctimoniously saying, "Jokes on you, I default to white when I imagine fictional characters. 😊" is at all interesting or valuable.
There's literally nothing subversive about "The book didn't describe her as distinctly brown, so I assumed she was white." It's not a special worldview. It's not interesting.
Suzanne Collins really took the idea of
„Open and close your book with the same line except it has completely shifted in meaning by the end.“
seriously with sotr.
„Happy Birthday Haymitch!“
even though the world feels so full of evil and hate most days those small selfless acts of kindness that everyday people do fills me with hope that humanity is still alive
there is a lover girl inside me behind a thick wall of cynicism and trust issues
life is so much better when you have a work of fiction to obsess over
rereading catching fire after SOTR has been... an exprience..
In Mockingjay, Katniss’s squad was called squad 451. Like the book Fahrenheit 451°.
Plutarch Heaveansbee, the man who had a huge ass library, and libraries were considered RARE, named them after a book about censorship.
Plutarch is such an interesting character, the fact that he was trying to stop the games for at LEAST 25 years. And he was so devoted it makes you wonder why he even cared.
we are all girls who are going to be okay
