So I'm like.... bored of updating this blog. But I don't want to delete it because I have one post that got like 50+ notes... and I'm kinda lazy.

It's time
I'm gonna do it! I swear, when I get home from work, whether I like it or not I WILL get off my ass and do something productive! ... holy shit I literally forgot what I was gonna do that's productive. Wow.
Employee Reviews
My employee review is today. I swear if they start by saying "so... according to your internet history...", then I'M OUT!!
But srsly.
UPDATE: It went well :)
SIM card failure
Since I've gotten my new iPhone, the 5, the SIM card has been constantly failing. I was able to fix it by resetting my network settings on my phone, but even that workaround stopped working. I looked up the issue on google, and I found something that worked perfectly -- taking the SIM card out, flipping it upside down, and literally erasing the surface with a pencil eraser. I stuck it back in my phone after blowing away the excess debris, and it worked like a charm. Logic.
Europe Trip
Just got back from my two week trip and cruise to Europe, and the jet lag is taking it's toll. I've been going to sleep at 6pm and waking up at midnight. The cruise however was well worth it. Some of the things included were the Blue Man Group, a Cirque du Soleil dinner, a teppanyaki dinner, and many many other restaurants. On land we got quite a bit of shopping in, along with visiting more museums than I have ever visited in my life.
I got some Kdopa shoes, some G-Star Raw jeans (yes, there are G-Star Raw stores where I live, but the jeans I got were unique to the location we were at), a wrist watch, and a nice jacket. Admittedly, the wrist watch and the jacket I could have gotten either online or at a store within 50 miles, but it's better than buying useless souvenirs from tourist shops.
After visiting Paris, Barcelona, Marseilles, and Sorrento, we stopped at our last stop in Aix-en-Provence, France. That's where I bought my wrist watch, and more importantly, an anniversary present for my girlfriend Michelle of 1 year. It's an antique locket watch, from the year 1900. Working condition, originating from Aix-en-Provence, and made of solid gold :D. It really is a beautiful piece of jewelry, and even more so, it's unique. Much better than the alternative "Oh shit, I forgot to get her a present so I'll just get her a cheap airport gift and she'll never know!!". Yes, a much better alternative.
Anyways, all in all, I had a wonderful time. It almost wasn't worth being apart and without most forms of contact from Michelle for two weeks, and the jet lag is certainly annoying... but overall, I had a wonderful time.
WPM Test
Took a couple WPM tests to beat my previous WPM of several months ago (90wpm), and ended up with 110 wpm! Seriously, either this test is rigged, or I just boosted my freakin words per minute by 20.
Also, the dictionary app has a word-of-the-day thingy that I occasionally look at. Today marks the first day I knew the definition of one of those words. It was "hamlet", meaning 'a small village'. Now, probably more than 50% of the population knows what that word means, but DON'T BURST MY HAPPY BUBBLE!!
Mystery Flavor
I blindly ate a Jelly Belly, and the mystery flavor triggered some hardcore memories that brought me back to my childhood. I still couldn't pinpoint what flavor I just ate.
....I later realized it was only watermelon -_-
Courthouse >.<
Went to the courthouse today to pay a traffic ticket I got from some asshole police officer. Long story short, I technically did something against the law (wrong way on a 1-way street), but it was an accident and I immediately pulled over into the parking lot on the corner. Cop comes up to me, sees me on the phone that I just picked up and answered after I parked, and thinks I was on the phone the whole time.
Anyways, I got that ticket paid off now, and applied to take traffic school which has to be completed in the next 2 months. Not a big deal. Add to that greatness, standing in line only took 35 minutes, as opposed to the 3 hours I was expecting! Very fast and easy to deal with.
One less thing I have hanging over my head :)
Messed with Photoshop
Yesterday I began to get myself familiar with Photoshop... and so far, I don't like it as much as SAI for sketches, though it appears to be very powerful in the sense of coloring my drawings. Learned how to add brushes to Photoshop also, though I wish they were sorted by name rather than by what the brush looks like. Is there a way to do that?
The drawing I did with Photoshop and SAI is pretty terrible, but it accomplished one thing: getting myself back into momentum. The hardest part is still accepting that I suck at drawing... but I'll keep with it regardless. I've seen my friends go from completely sucking to being absolutely amazing, so I think I can do it too.
Also, tomorrow I'll start getting my English class back on track. If I can get it halfway finished before going on vacation, I'll be golden :D (or maybe silver).
I'm pretty embarrassed about this picture, actually. It was an example for an art contest I'm doing with my friends... I came up with the challenge, and they needed an example, so I made this in the spare hour I had. It looks pretty amateur at best.
On the bright side, I learned how to add brushes to Photoshop!
It's a start
This weekend I started drawing again. Nothing big, actually it was all really small, and not original (I was copying off of something). Just random stuff like practicing my shading and colors and drawing random crap like wrenches and shorts.... but it's a start, and I really think I can get back into drawing and developing a style that I really like!
One big thing I am debating on, is whether to use Photoshop or Paint Tool SAI. Price isn't a problem for me, so I'm only debating on which one is easier to use or better to use in the long run.
I've seen people use photoshop and make it look SO easy, but at the same time, I've seen people use SAI and make it look ridiculously easy. Overall, I've seen more advanced artists use Photoshop rather than SAI, and I think that's what I'm going to start aiming towards. You can add different paintbrushes and pretty much do anything with Photoshop. When I get to be a more advanced artist, I don't want to have to learn a whole new program to achieve what I want.
For now, I'm just creating a sketch dump on SAI, and then later I'll create one using Photoshop, that way I can see the differences visually, and feel the differences in the process.
That is all. I will upload my sketch dump when I'm finished with it.... or just update it as it goes. We'll see. We'll see.
Friday - My weekly todo list starts now.
Yes! Friday! With the exception of terrible parking due to street sweeping, Friday contains all the inspiration and planning for my weekend..... and then dumps it all at 4:00pm when I leave work. This time will be an experiment, though.Usually, I get back from work, and I'm so tired that I just sit on the couch staring at nothing, with the possibility of going on my computer and repeating the process of nothingness. Today is the day that I literally force myself to do the things that I get inspired to do, and to disregard the fact that my brain tells me "no, you should save your energy" or "it's not worth it". No, today is the day that I set SMALL tasks for me to do, because I know that if I start it, it won't be hard to continue doing it.
The biggest thing I'll do this weekend: start to draw again. I've seen many many of my young friends progress in their drawing skills, and it makes me envy their rapid learning. But yet, even after that, what do I do? -- I still sit on my bum and do nothing. I'll just set the task of drawing for 30 minutes a day this weekend, because I'll probably get absorbed into it once I start and make it last for hours.
On a side note, I found this webcomic, and I'm seriously considering donating. It's made me laugh and has definitely inspired me to draw again.
For the love of goodness, I want to be able to draw like this! From what I can tell, it requires no skill in dynamic shading, AND it reminds me of the Borderlands art style. Absolutely love this, especially since you can make the environment contain SO many separate objects without muddling everything up!
I think I’ll try to create something using this style when I get home.
Mornings...
Mornings are terrible. I keep waking up with inadequate sleep, and am too busy to take a nap until nighttime again. This lack of sleep is building so exponentially that I've started to wake up with no recollection of an alarm going off :\
Got into work an hour late today because of it. But oh well, maybe I'll go to sleep an hour earlier and try to get to work on time tomorrow (friday! woo!)
So I told my mom about the soda machine...
Me: *Shows picture to mom*... "Best $1.50 ever spent"
Mom: $1.50?!?! What did you do to the poor machine?
Me: ;)
Mom: Ew
Me: We only stuck our bills in the slot... if you know what I'm saying.
Me: It enjoyed it and ended up giving us more bang for our buck.
Mom: Typical male delusions.
Machine broke just for me. Best $1.50 ever spent.
