hear me out: so we know from Elizabeth that Lignos are people turned into servants of the primeval trees. We’ve only seen one Lignos so far, the deer in Wildwoods.

Here’s my idea: What if Lignos looked different depending on which tree it served? For example, one who serves the tree on South Hoof could have the purple flowers that grow there growing on its antlers. Or, in addition, if not all Lignos always resemble deer, they could be different animals. Like a Lignos who serves the primeval tree in Dino Valley could look like an arctic fox, or something. I so wanna draw this ya’ll-

star stable mistfall has Timeline Problems

according to star stable’s instagram, rania is 15 in the show

according to the journal, rania is 18 in game

this would set the show 3 years before the game

in the show, rania’s favourite song is by lisa peterson (also according to star stable’s instagram)

lisa peterson has not been on jorvik for three years—in the journal, it says she arrived two years ago

the characters in game all act as if skye is coming to jorvik/just came to jorvik, like, Right This Minute

the only possible explanation i can think of is if they changed rania’s canon age

i would probably assume that if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s being frequently referenced in game. we have embermane/blaze, plus rania and alonso talked about skye coming to visit at the new years’ celebration in the winter village

but yeah, that’s probably what we’ll have to treat it as tbh. it’ll probably be more of a spinoff than an elaboration on the existing canon

consistency? in MY horse game universe? it’s less likely than you think! but more seriously

I don’t think the holiday events are ‘canon’, since if they were then the storyline of Anne being missing for 2 months doesn’t add up. she can’t be gone for 2 months and also it’s been like 7 christmases! (they make references to her being missing in the earliest Christmas event I remember (2014), you put her dressage hat on a snowman in Silverglade village.) plus characters you haven’t rescued are at the events. What do you mean Linda, Lisa, Anne, Meteor, Starshine, and Concorde are kidnapped/missing? they’re right here at the current holiday event! Which may be a bit confusing for new players that only just started and haven’t rescued all the characters yet. I think it’s all just a way to build hype for Mistfall in game, since not all players follow SSO’s social media, best way to get the information to the most players is through the game itself.

also the early articles about Mistfall said the story will “run parallel” to the game. unclear what that actually means.

notes:

the runes here, as far as i can tell, are a bit mixed from different runic alphabets but mainly using medieval scandinavian runes

ᚳ or ᚿ? unclear whether handwriting or different runes.

ᛦ could be y, R, z… but it makes most sense as r here.

þ is pronounced like th, still in modern icelandic f.ex.

æ is representing a sound close to modern scandinavian æ / ä as well as short e.

capital R here represents an old sound close to r and z.

there are more unclarities, feel free to share your opinions!

TRANSLATIONS:

so this is the most interesting part ofc - but all that i can make out from this text, (as a person speaking modern swedish who has knowledge about nordic language and old norse etc), is the parts that seem VERY close to some broken sentences from “the lord’s prayer”, aka “herrens bön” or “fader vår” in modern swedish.

the first hint we get on row 1: “nama, tilk […] mm […], rikiæ . sk”. compare to the 1917 version of the lord’s prayer:

Fader vår, som är i himmelen Helgat varde ditt namn. Tillkomme ditt rike. Ske din vilja, såsom i himmelen så ock på jorden.

the next one, which is hard to dispute, is on row 9: “faþæR uoR som“…

it helps here to know that “þ” (th) in many cases evolved into the letter “d” in modern svandinavian language, and that the “æ” (”ä” in modern swedish) sounds very similar to a short “e”. (the sound here written as R is an old norse and european sound that was near both “z” and “r” and appeared mainly at the end of words, where we in modern norse languages mostly have the letter “r”) so while “fader” and “faþæR” may look different if u dont know a lot about the topic, they really arent very different. 

for “uoR”, the sounds are quite similar to “vår” when you pronounce it although ofc lacking the sharpness of the “v”. (”å” is pronounced similarly to the short “o” sound in modern swedish.) looking at the context of the word before it, and the word after it which is spelled the same in modern swedish (”som”), it becomes reasonable to interpret this word as “vår” despite the spelling differences. 

on row 10, i’m curious if the “boior” could be “bojor” (chains), and what the sentence around it would be.

row 11 and 12 are very clearly the same part of the lord’s prayer repeated again:

11: R uoR som æ(?) [unreadable] himlym [covered] 12: a . tilkomma [unreadable] t rikiæ . skiæ þ [covered]

Fader vår, som är i himmelen Helgat varde ditt namn. Tillkomme ditt rike. Ske din vilja, såsom i himmelen så ock på jorden.

EDIT TO ADD LIKE 1 MINUTE AFTER POSTING: 

this sentence that also seems to repeat through the text:

13: malan [malac? manan?] so oh boiordænnæ . fo [covered]

is also part of the prayer!! its just written together in a weird mashed way. split it up to “-malan so oh bo iordænnæ” and we are very close to:

Ske din vilja, såsom i himmelen så ock på jorden.

this shows that we basically have the first part of “the lord’s prayer” in swedish repeating throughout this page.

Star Stable Trailers - The Jorvik Wild Horse Part Two

The Jorvik Wild Horse may have any coat color, some still undiscovered by any equestrian not native to Jorvik. The coat color may be of help when figuring out the origins of the horse, as different markings are more prominent in specific wild herds. For example, one herd is known for an almost magical blue tint in their coats, and the most famous horse from said herd is no other than Lisa Peterson’s horse Starshine. Unlike the magical horses of Jorvik though, the color of their coats never changes. This primal horse has never been domesticated nor bred in captivity, but they have been known to approach humans of their liking to allow a bond to form. To be allowed to ride a Jorvik Wild Horse is a true honor - do you have what it takes to befriend one?

The Jorvik Wild Horse is the oldest known horse breed to wander upon Jorvik, and as far as anyone can tell the horses of this breed look the same way they did hundreds of years back. Maybe its close connection to Pandoric energy is the reason for the stalled evolution?

Reasons why you should be more excited than you already are

because you are excited, right?

Star Stable confirmed, that the breed will have three unique manestyle. Two of which has been shown in the trailer video and the third one was teased in their Breaking News! livestream.

The Jorvik Wild horses are the first breed in the game having three unique manestyle. Most generation 3 horses only have a long unique mane which resembles their breed and a special mane. The third mane contains some herbs in them, which (based on the picture) will probably have their own mesh and will not be just drawn on the already existing mane. This is a huge progress as this have never happened before.

They really are costumizeable!

We will get three more coats besides the ones shown to us in the trailer. You can find two of them on their Instagram and the remaining coat is really a mystery.

(If i have to place my bet it will be a dark bay or a simple white one. Most of the coats shown are really extra so they will probably release a simpler one for those who like the simple designs better)

The horses have three coat variations. The first one not containing any extra fur on the horse, the second addig beard and some fluff on the stomach and the third one giving the horse (in addition to the beard and stomach hair) some extra fur on the neck area.

Their mouth is really detailed. You would think this is only to prove that they worked a lot on this horse, but that's not the only thing that it can mean. We saw them experiment with bits when the Marwari horses were released. The more detailed mouth will probably fit a bit in it nicer than the old mouths. Honestly I would just keep an eye out for a new bridle style, because they are probably on their way.

And I am not even started on them!

They also have an extra tail variation. The tail ends in a color, presumably one which matches the horses' eye color. (Although this is a point I'm not sure in.)

Their turn is one of the improved kind. We have seen this one with the Marwari, but it seems like it is here to stay! The horses released in the future are very likely to get their own turning animation.

They will also have a unique gait. This means they are the third breed of horses with a special movement. (We do not have a footage as of now of how it looks.) They will have obviously the special interaction where they lie down on the ground. They are the first horses possessing both a unique gait and interaction.

So as you can see these horses give a lot of new things so I don't wanna see anyone crying, because of the prices. >:(

Is it just me or does this seem to be SSO dipping their toes in the water for generation 4 horses?

I asked a long time ago what consumers would qualify as a horse worth 1,000 star coins and honestly this is it for me guys. I’ve been excited for past releases but this is making me as excited as when the first quarter horse came out. Might buy star coins to show SSO that I support this release and want to see more like it.

I really hope they’re that big and it’s not just a camera trick on sso’s part to make them look bigger. Gonna buy every color :)

It really does seem like it! This is a huge jump in quality, I can't even compare the Andalusian (which is mind you my favorite breed in-game) and the Jorvik Wilds, so it is hard to believe that they are the same generation.

On the other hand tho, I find it hard to believe that they would remake our starter horses again, because gen 3 only came out earlier this year.

I personally believe this breed is the beginning of generation 3.5 with the Marwari being the pinnacle of generation 3. It’s soon going to be three years since the Connemara ( the first third gen horse ) got released and now after many months of trials we see gen 3 growing up a lot with the breeds we got earlier this year, especially the AHQ and the Marwaris. Now that they’ve gotten more and more experienced with body language it’s time to work on the expressions and with that a total rework on the mouth of the horse, removing the textured teeth and tongue and replacing them with actual 3D meshes inside the horse’s mouth, and so beginning generation 3.5. I think it will still be a long way (hopefully not ) before our dear starter gets once again a rework, but till then, we can enjoy this new generation of star stable horses :)

they have also said that they are working on a player character update, kinda hoping they get that done before any new horse generations, just to think about my crusty, dead behind the eyes character sitting on these super detailed horses makes me cringe... @_@

I don’t want to write this and sound all attention grabby, but y’all do know Tumblr is built for reblogging, not for liking? Like, don’t get me wrong, I love that y’all like my posts, but the only way people get exposure on this platform is reblogging their work. Tumblr doesn’t boost posts at all, so liking doesn’t do anything for the creator to gain attention to their work. The only way they gain attention is if their work gets reblogged and put on more people’s feeds. This isn’t Instagram where hashtags boost popular posts that have a lot of likes. It’s a re-sharing platform and that means sharing content to other people’s feeds is the only way for more people to see it.

Like, I get that a lot of y’all have very specific aesthetics you run for your blogs, and I’m guilty of this myself, but this community has done this for a really long time, and it’s typically when we’re barely reblogging each others content that people feel the most separated from the rest of the community. The only way to fix that is to start reblogging again, aesthetics or not, because that’s the only way we’re going to reconnect and keep our community connected.

sso’s social media and fanart

I don’t like this trend of Star Stable not crediting artists on instagram (and possible elsewhere). I noticed it first with Elli’s comics for sso, where they didn’t credit her even though she’s not an SSO employee, she was hired as more contract/freelance work (I’m not privy to the details of the arrangement, just know she’s not an official SSO full time employee). Given she is, you know, not an sso employee and has her own comic and art, taking that credit from her cuts into her exposure, which she needs to generate traffic on her comic and possibly get commissions. Not crediting her actively hurts her. (Not to mention now the comic is going to story-only format, making it even more difficult to find on instagram.)

And now the Lisa Peterson instagram is also doing the same thing, crediting the artist after someone else told them who it is and what their instagram is. That’s not right. I don’t give a shit that the ToS lets SSO claim all fanart as theirs to use it’s not right and it actively hurts the artist, and any other artists they do this to. An official SSO instagram with thousands of followers should at least have the decency to find the artist and get permission + any social media links they can to help promote the artist. SSO is a multi million dollar company with a young target audience, and if they can take art without permission or giving proper credit to the audience what message does that send to their fanbase?

It’s a bad message, it hurts fanartists, and it’s not right.

EDIT: I’ve sent SSO an email telling them to get their act together, if you’ve got a few minutes please do the same [support link! click me!]. The more messages they get the better and the sooner they’ll fix this behavior.
