It’s looking like Fairy Tail is going to have a happy ending, and even though there’s plenty of stuff on tumblr about people being upset that it’s not going exactly as they wanted it, it’s still Hiro’s story to tell. If you don’t want Fairy Tail to get a happy ending, that’s fine, it’s your opinion. If you hate the Alvarez arc, that’s fine, it’s your opinion. If you love the Alvarez arc, that’s fine, it’s your opinion. But please don’t be mean to each other because of what everyone thinks! It really takes away from all the positive stuff going on, and some people want to have pleasant memories of this show for when it ends!
HOLY SHIT, IT WAS THE ORIGINAL ONE

I THOUGHT THIS WAS GOING TO END WITH A MEME OR SOME SHIT NO IT’S THE REAL ONE OH MY GOD
Wishing I’ll do well on my finals ✨
What do you think were the best nalu moments in this arc so far?
Hmm~ This is a good question! I had to go back quite far for this one, but I think you’ll like it! It’s gonna be a long answer, so let’s get started!
First off, we have Natsu coming back from his year long training session:
I mean, in the entirety of chapter 418 we see just how much Lucy misses Natsu (and Happy too of course), but in this page, you can see how happy she is that he’s back. She looks almost relieved (not that she wasn’t thriving on her own, but she had a hole in her heart). Natsu looks ecstatic to see Lucy (we even get a little blush).
Moving on to chapter 419 (don’t worry, I won’t be going through every chapter like this lmao) but OH MY GOD LOOK. Natsu had no idea how hard Lucy was working and how broken she was losing Aquarius, everyone, and HIM all at once. I think this is where he truly understood her pain whether he knew all the details or not.
Also, how can we forget how “first chapter” this page is. It’s almost like Lucy can’t believe it. He’s back and so is Fairy Tail.
Here, it’s pretty clear that Natsu has learned how much him leaving as well hurt her. I think this is v important for their relationship… Which they still have yet to “resolve” though I don’t think Natsu leaving was entirely “selfish”.
I think here Natsu is trying to gain Lucy’s trust again. To prove himself to her, and honestly I believe that this scene is very intimate between them and the way their relationship is. Not so much romantically, but their trust in each other.
We also get a LOT of scenes of both Natsu and Lucy reacting like this to one another…
Hmmm…
Okay, okay I know, I’m nitpicking everything- HOW CAN I PICK JUST A FEW FAVORITES?? But alright, I’m going to get into general, overarching moments that I think are the best and really love!
There is A LOT under this break and there are also spoilers of the latest chapters!! Please read with caution :)
Continuar lendo
I make her words, mine!!!
Félicié, Victor and Camille from “Ballerina/Leap” (2016) as teenagers! :D Victor is a little too close to the ground, but I imagine that he is on his knees. ;P Totally recommend the movie! It´s beautiful!!

Natsu didn’t friend zone Lucy!
I’ve seen lots of debate in the fairy tail tag today over whether NaLu is actually canon or not, so I wanted to share my opinion!
*WARNING: This is a long one!*
Personally, I believe NaLu is canon, but not in your stereotypical “I love you” “I love you too” confession and makeout session kind of way. Ever since Natsu and Lucy first started acting like a couple and were shipped, we know that the pair have zero experience with love. Neither have ever been in a relationship, and therefore don’t really know how to act when confronted with the idea of one. Lucy has a slim idea, after her early fantasies of a “knight in shining armour” figure, however Natsu is completely oblivious. I think Natsu and Lucy both share an idea on what love is, but neither can properly tell when they are in love unless when the moment is right.
So here comes Chapter 545! Of course Lucy got incredibly emotional when thinking back to the jobs:
Which is only natural, the poor girl has been through so much and just at the thought of going on another job brought back so many memories and tears to her eyes.
So what does she do? The only thing she can do:
Embrace and thank the man who made it all possible; Natsu.
At this moment, with all the memories flooding back into her, Lucy is finally coming to terms with her feelings for Natsu. She loves him. She loves him out of pure gratitude for everything he’s ever done for her, and for being her first ever friend. As Lucy said herself, if she’d never met Natsu, none of her life would have been possible; she wouldn’t have joined Fairy Tail, she wouldn’t have made friends, she wouldn’t have grown stronger, and she probably wouldn’t have won the best writer award!
And Natsu knows this.
Of course initially he pulls his signature “o shit” face because Lucy is crying and he’s not really sure what to do.
But this isn’t necessarily a look of “o shit” because he’s uncomfortable or feels awkward. Both him and Happy look incredibly concerned, from their creased eyebrows to the bead of sweat dripping from them. So why is he pulling that face? Because he is confronted with love.
As I said before, Natsu has had no experience with love before, therefore when Lucy hugs him and tells him how much she appreciates him, he doesn’t know how to react.
Now, the next part I think is the most important:
Of course Natsu has never been one to give Lucy any form of personal space, and here is certainly no exception. But this scene is different from all the others. Natsu respects Lucy more than anyone else in the guild, therefore if he were to tease her or invade her personal space, it’s purely in a jokey scenario. This scene here though? This isn’t a joke. Natsu and Lucy are being serious. So that merely means that Natsu leaning in is not a way to tease her, he is being serious with her, a trait rarely shown by the dragon slayer unless in combat.
Now, you’d all be lying if you said you didn’t think Natsu was going to kiss Lucy on the next page, because at this point I was screaming at him to kiss her and this is the point most people believe Natsu rejected Lucy. But in my opinion, it’s the complete opposite.
As I said, Natsu has had no experience with love, so the time he is actually faced with it (right now), he’s not joking around, he’s not teasing, because he has finally realised how Lucy feels. Granted I don’t think he’s absolutely certain, and here’s why:
When Natsu leans in - I promise this isn’t my NaLu senses taking over - I believe he was actually planning to kiss her, like many of us hoped. However, I think he changed his mind at the last minute, purely because he doesn’t want to hurt Lucy. He knows she’s in a vulnerable situation, and he would hate more than anything to make her more upset and tearful than she already is. Natsu knows that he loves Lucy, and is starting to think she returns those feelings, but he doesn’t want to confess when she’s in such a state and all emotional. He doesn’t want to hurt and/or confuse her.
Now let’s discuss Lucy’s feelings towards all this. Throughout the entire Alvarez arc she’s being toying with her feelings towards Natsu, as to whether they’re strictly platonic or whether there’s something more. This is the point where she’s considering perhaps there is something more. She’s so overwhelmed with gratitude and emotions she’s finally putting two and two together and deciding she is in love with her best friend. When Natsu leans in, she thinks he’s about to kiss her. How do we know?
This. The face she makes. You can interpret this however many ways you like, I’m definitely not saying mine is the correct way, but I’ll explain my theory.
Lucy’s contemplating her feelings again when she says “Wait”, but stops in the middle of her sentence. Why? Because she’s panicking. She - much like Natsu - has never had any experience with love, never had a boyfriend, and never had her first kiss. She thinks Natsu is going to kiss her, so what does she do? She closes her eyes and leaves her mouth open. She’s waiting for him to kiss her, so she can properly decide how she feels. She wants Natsu to kiss her.
Need more evidence?
She thought he was going to do something interesting.
What kind of interesting thing were you thinking, Lucy? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
However, what really ties the knot, (see what I did there), about Natsu’s feelings towards Lucy is this:
He wants them to be together forever.
Natsu and Lucy wouldn’t have a stereotypical love confession because they are not a regular couple. Natsu saying he wants to be with Lucy forever just about proves that he loves her. And let’s not forget who else said they wanted to be with their significant other forever:
And who are together and trying for a baby in the final chapter?
From the words they speak to the expression they make, Natsu in no way friend zoned Lucy.
I believe he confessed to her, but in his own sweet, dense little way! He’s too inexperienced to know how to properly confess, and although he initially considered kissing her, it’d be far more like him to aggravate Lucy but confess his love at the same time. After all, he can’t resist teasing her!
Hopefully this put some of your minds at ease, let me all know your opinions and theories, I’d love to hear them! <3
Also needed this one. Thank you again
When did Lucy fall in love with Natsu?
There’s been so many essay-like posts around tumblr talking about when and where Natsu first realised he was in love with Lucy, but I’ve never actually seen any regarding when Lucy’s feelings started. So I thought I’d share my own opinionated theory!
I feel as though Lucy’s feelings for Natsu took a lot longer for her to realise than Natsu’s, so let’s start from the beginning:
Episodes 1-50:
At this point, the story as well as Natsu and Lucy’s relationship is very much in the starting stages; there simply isn’t a whole lot to it. Neither of them have even considered a relationship, especially not with each other. Lucy may have her “knight in shining armour” fantasies, (as we see in ending 1 of the anime), but that is the most we get.
Episode 50:
Episode 50 is where things start to get more interesting.
After the hilarious scenario of Lucy believing Natsu has a crush on her because of Mira’s meddling, she has now become self aware of the fact people mistake her and Natsu as a couple. Because of this, she starts to picture it in her mind and perhaps imagine what it would be like if they were in a relationship.
Again, though, this is still very early stages in their development, so she will continue to deny any sort of feelings for Natsu.
Episode 122:
The Tenrou Island arc in general was a huge step for NaLu’s relationship, especially on Natsu’s part as that was when (as many of us have speculated) he first realised he was in love with Lucy. Sadly, though, Lucy is nowhere near the love stage at this point.
During Acnologia’s attack in episode 122, Lucy is crying because she thinks it’s all over. Naturally Natsu overhears this, and of course the first thing he does is reassure her that it isn’t the end.
Now, I think the look Lucy gives Natsu after saying this is really significant:
This isn’t a look of love or anything, as I said earlier we’re still far from Lucy being in love with Natsu. Rather, this is her beginning to toy with the idea of liking Natsu. In this moment she cannot confidently say “I like Natsu”, but she is far more aware of it, and knows deep down that there is a slight possibility it could happen. However, at this stage she will still continue to deny any feelings for him.
Episode 123-End of Tartaros Arc
I know this is a really big time jump, but the end of Tartaros is where things start to pick up. Throughout this time, Natsu and Lucy’s characters and relationship develops immensely. I’m not going to dish out every example otherwise we’d be here for weeks, but it’s safe to say Lucy’s feelings have begun to develop, although she is still on the fence of “Do I like him” or “Is he just a friend”.
Chapter 468:
I’m going to skip the beginning of the Alvarez arc, because I know we’ve all heard the theories and opinions on Lucy’s angst a million times, and although their relationship does develop, it’s not enough for me to talk about. After all, a lot of those chapters illustrated Natsu’s feelings more than Lucy’s.
Chapter 468 is when Lucy’s feelings take a huge step forward. For those unaware, Natsu had gone off on his own, (with Happy), to try and defeat Zeref, and Lucy has basically spent most of her time worrying about him.
A few chapters later, (Chapter 468), Happy returns to the guild, but Natsu is unconscious, and Lucy’s face says it all:
Then she realises that Natsu’s heart isn’t beating:
And begs Brandish to save him:
Natsu being faced with death is the last thing Lucy would expect from a war. After all, he’s one of the strongest wizards she knows. So for him to be lying there in front of her, unconscious and his heart not beating, Lucy is absolutely terrified.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is the point where Lucy realises that she likes Natsu, because she cannot picture a world without him in it. After over a year of contemplation, she has finally reached the conclusion that she likes her best friend, meaning she would gladly consider a relationship with him, if it weren’t for the current circumstances, of course.
She isn’t in love with him yet, she simply wouldn’t mind the idea of a relationship. Of course she will still deny her feelings because she doesn’t want people to know, after all she’s only just figured it out herself, however you will notice she is definitely less upfront about it:
Of course she gets flustered and blushes over it, however she doesn’t explicitly deny it. Now, this could just be a translation error, I don’t have access to official translations, so please don’t quote me on it, but in this frame she’s simply saying that wasn’t what she meant, not that she isn’t, (as quoted by Ever), “head over heels for him”. See, she isn’t denying that she likes him, but she isn’t exactly singing on the rooftops that she has feelings for him. Remember, this is all still very new to her.
Now, throughout the rest of the Alvarez arc, you can see that Lucy is incredibly protective over Natsu:
This protectiveness is Lucy’s feelings developing more and more. She knows that she likes Natsu, and therefore will now be even more worried about the possibility of losing him, and wants to continuously protect him at all costs, as we can see from the screenshots.
Chapter 545:
Like I said at the beginning of this opinion/theory, Lucy takes a lot longer to comprehend her feelings for Natsu, which is why I believe that she only realises that she is in love with him in the final chapter.
I did a whole other opinion/theory explaining what each NaLu panel in the final chapter means, so I’m not gonna go into loads of detail here. (If you want to read that theory click here #shamelessselfpromo)
ANYWAY, I think the moment Lucy finally realises she loves Natsu is here:
Memories come flooding back to her old jobs with Natsu. All these memories cause this sudden realisation that her feelings for Natsu are far more than just “I like him”. She loves him. She’s spent such a long time toying with her feelings and throwing them back and forth, that shes finally figured out that she can’t keep throwing them around forever. She needs to come to that conclusion and she finally has.
Granted, she has only come to this realisation, so she’s not just going to burst out and say “I love you”, but she does do something equally as meaningful:
She hugs him. I touched on what this hug means in my other theory, so again I’m not going to go into heaps of detail, but I will say this. Lucy is new to romance. As is Natsu. Neither of them are just going to say “I love you” because it just isn’t like them to do something that stereotypical of two people in love. This hug is her way of expressing her love for Natsu.
What happens next is controversial. Every single person has a different opinion on it but I’m just going to say it how I believe it.
Natsu was going to kiss Lucy. You may be asking “well if Lucy loves Natsu why did she stutter and say wait?”. You have to remember and keep in mind that Lucy has only just realised that she is in love with him. Her feelings are all over the place and it is all so new to her. It’s all a big shock and a lot to take in, so of course she’s going to stutter and be all nervous; this is her first time feeling this way about anyone. However, because she is aware that she is in love with him, she doesn’t push him away, she doesn’t try to get out of his grip. Instead, she closes her eyes and opens her mouth. She wants Natsu to kiss her.
Of course we know that there was no kiss, but I think the most important thing here is that she would have gladly accepted the kiss and would not have regretted it, because she is in love with Natsu.
So that’s it! It’s annoying to think that Lucy took painfully longer to realise her feelings than Natsu did, but I truly believe that this was the moment she knew that she was in love with him.
As I said before I’ve never really seen any posts regarding Lucy’s feelings towards Natsu, or if I have they haven’t been in immense detail, so this was really fun to write and figure out!
Let me know what you all think <3

Moonshine - A Yatori Fic
Summary: There are many things Hiyori wants to tell Yato, but she knows the best way is to not say them at all.
Genre: Fluff, cute, light, happy fic, lots of fluff and emotional happiness T^T Also strong Hiyori *Q*
Notes: Another fic of mine that’s been on FF and AO3 for a long while but here again, I’m posting it on Tumblr cuz I wanted the few who read this to share the same happiness I felt while writing this T^T I’m honestly kinda proud of this one. Read on Ao3!
Please like/reblog if you like it, it would make me very happy! **Q**
“What?”
“Nothing.”
“You’ve been staring at me for 15 minutes, it’s freaking me out.”
“Don’t worry ‘bout it.”
“Then stop staring.”
“Just hurry up and come to bed with me.”
Hiyori’s face flushed deep red. She didn’t understand how Yato could be so nonchalant about saying things like that. Did he not know how the whole sentence could be misinterpreted? He probably didn’t. Yato was way too clueless. Hiyori glanced at him out of the corner of her eyes. He was still gazing at her from where he lay on her bed, one elbow propping his head up, his eyes deep and dark and as intense as always, lost in thought as he studied Hiyori. When he saw her glancing at him, his lips curved upwards into a small smirk and his eyebrows shot up, questioningly.
“Mm?”
Then again, he probably knew, the sly bastard.
Hiyori scoffed at nothing in particular and averted her gaze to her notebook – math problems piling up like a mountain on the white sheet. She didn’t want to do this now but she had to. If she didn’t, she’d lose those grades. And she desperately needed those grades, what with her falling asleep so much in class and missing out on much that she needed to pay attention to. But then Hiyori’s lips relaxed and she allowed herself a small moment of happiness away from the stress – she liked being her half-phantom self and following Yato and Yukine around. Delivering super jungle savate kicks made her feel really good.
But then, there was also Yato. Hiyori’s cheeks colored a little and she hoped Yato wouldn’t notice since the only light in the room was the table lamp in front of her. She placed both hands on her cheeks and leaned forward on the table. As much as Yato was an idiot, he also had a side Hiyori didn’t know very well. No, he had many sides Hiyori hadn’t yet seen very well. There was a kind side when Yato always made sure Yukine had the slightly larger half of the manjuu, a sad side when Yato was sometimes in his own world and faked laughter to seem okay, a cold side when he pushed away Hiyori’s questions about his time as a God of Calamity. There was even a dangerous side to Yato when his eyes lost their life and glowed with nothing but anger. Hiyori had seen them all but she wasn’t satisfied with just seeing. She wanted to know. She wanted to decode Yato, all the way from the top to the very bottom, turn him inside out, look deep into his hidden pockets, shake him out of dreams that he denied were unpleasant. She wanted to pull him close, soothe him, pat his head, run her fingers through his hair, breathe into his ear and make him fall into a deep, relaxing sleep in her arms as he dreamed of nothing but space, vacuum, stars and planets.
But it was easier said than done, Hiyori sighed and shivered. At this point, she knew what all these feelings were. What she thought was the tip of the iceberg at first; she now knew was the giant mountain at the bottom.
No, she knew exactly what was happening.
She was in love with him.
She looked at the clock on the table. 11:21pm. There was no way she was going to get this homework done – not with her rambling thoughts about Yato. And there was no way she could NOT think about Yato right now. How could she, when his smell was the only thing she could breathe?
She stole another glance at him. Yes, the blue eyed god was still staring at her – but whether he was aware of it or not anymore was beyond Hiyori’s understanding - his fingers pulling idly at a thread that had been pulled out of the old quilt that was underneath him. This time, she didn’t avert her eyes, she looked at him properly. His eyes were unreadable, his face relaxed, his hair in a loose ponytail and his limbs free and limp. The moonlight fell on his face, and Hiyori couldn’t place her finger on how his features were so soft and delicate and yet strong and sharp at the same time. He truly was god-like. She bit her lip in embarrassment. All those times when he had doubted his worth and his ability to be a god of fortune instead of a god of calamity like he had been told all his life – she wanted to erase those bad memories and moments by showing him how he looked, what his face looked like now, how he exuded peace and radiated a kind of strength.
She blew out her cheeks at her own inability and stood, scraping her chair back. Yato seemed to come out of his reverie and blinked widely.
“Oh you done?”
“I can’t concentrate, I’ll do it tomorrow.” She sighed and had to bite her tongue to refrain from adding in 'because of YOU’.
“I can do it for you for five yen!” Yato chirped and Hiyori ignored him, rolling her eyes and brushing her teeth. She felt upset immediately afterwards, looking at his reflection in the mirror in front of her. He wasn’t supposed to do meager jobs like this. He didn’t deserve it. Hiyori knew his good points and she was upset he wasn’t getting the attention and reward that he properly deserved. She finished her routine, brushed her hair and considered changing her clothes – should she? But Yato was there… however this wasn’t the first time he’d come over. And it was just the both of them since Yukine wasn’t over today, he was back at Kofuku’s since he and Yato had gotten into a fight. More like a squabble, Hiyori chuckled.
She changed in the bathroom. It was only Yato. She blushed. Yato wouldn’t do anything. Hiyori was more worried of how she’d feel with her usual nightgown on, rather than how Yato would.
“Move.” She stood over his splayed out figure on the bed and tugged on the quilt under his butt. Yato met her gaze and pouted playfully and shook his head.
“No.”
“Yato. Move.” Hiyori huffed and considered climbing up and stepping all over him when he grinned and held out his hand.
“No. C'mon, you can have this half of the bed.” Yato’s eyes twinkled in amusement and Hiyori bit her lips from breaking out into a smile. He looked so at home here. In her bed. Oh. She blushed again.
“Ugh, you’re hopeless.” She grunted and sat down on the edge of the mattress, completely surprising the god behind her. Truthfully, she was embarrassed but this wasn’t the first time they had slept on the same bed. It had happened before, once… twice… each time she wondered if she was the only one who was super self-conscious and hyper-aware of every movement and ended up being wide-awake the whole night.
“Eh? Hiyori? Are you okay? Why aren’t you kicking me out like you always do?” Yato’s tone was brimming with shock and surprise and Hiyori hid her grin as she lay down and pulled the quilt over her. She turned on her side, her back facing him. The self-consciousness and hyper-awareness washed over her like a wave and she could almost see Yato leaning over her from behind, craning his neck to see her face.
“Go to sleep Yato.” Came her muffled reply and Yato, puzzled as he was, obeyed and settled beside her on his side facing her. Comfortable silence filled the air around them and Hiyori listened to how Yato’s breathing steadied and slowed down. She wondered what face he was making behind but didn’t dare shift from her position.
Her thoughts drifted on to other things but the center of their universe didn’t shift from Yato. There were probably many things that Yato would never tell her. Probably the things he would tell her, if at all he did, would render her lifetime being unable to cover it. There were probably too many things – and mostly sad and joyless at that, Hiyori guessed, that Yato had been through. The unhappiness she felt whenever she thought of this wasn’t pity for her god. It was more like a sadness that he had to live through so much without anybody trustworthy next to him. This, was as Kofuku had said one evening, a first for Yato – to have a shinki that had vowed to be 'his light’ as Yukine had put it and a human being who remembered him and cared for him enough to build a shrine, however small.
She smiled at the thought of Yato for the first time, truly in happiness. From the memories she had accidentally witnessed one evening at Kofuku’s, this was indeed, what could be called as happier times for Yato. Happiest, if possible. Hiyori twisted a strand of her hair quietly and smelled it. It no longer smelled of shampoo but of Yato. She wondered what Yato felt like. When he met her, did he think she would just be another human girl? Or did he, like she did, feel a certain zap, a certain connection, a certain 'string of fate’ as Hiyori liked to imagine it? What did Yato feel when he took in Yukine? When Yukine was blighted and Yato fought for both their lives, did he think that one day, Yukine would grow to trust him enough and shield him from Bishamon to become his first ever hafuri?
Or did he not, and when the truth came showering down on him like the first rain of monsoon; when he realized he had someone to pray to his small shrine for his own safety – his safety, mind you – was he rendered speechless with happiness and overwhelming emotions?
Did he have sleepless nights? Did Yato still have nightmares?
Was Yato happier now that his dark, murky and unhappy past seemed less dark, less murky and less to be bothered by?
Did he perhaps, know that she loved him? Was he aware?
Hiyori was so curious. Rather than to quench her thirst for some, no, a bit of personal satisfaction, like what Yato thought of her, she wanted to know more of him because she wanted to be the first person to. The first human. Was this selfishness? A competition with herself to see if she could beat her expectations? To gloat? Hiyori felt more down than ever, now.
She glanced at the clock which was bathed in soft moonshine. 12:30am. Surely he was asleep by now but she wasn’t.
“Yato?”
“Hm?”
“… You aren’t asleep yet?”
“Mm. Not really.”
“Hm.”
More silence as each listened to the other breathe. After a while, Yato shifted slowly and threw an arm over Hiyori’s waist. A casual move that chilled Hiyori in a good way. She wondered if he had done this before, during any of the times they had shared the same bed. If he had, then it must have been after she’d fallen asleep since she couldn’t remember.
“Is anything worrying you?” Yato’s breath fanned Hiyori’s earlobe and the hairs on the back of her neck rose in needless anticipation. His voice was so low, so… soft. He was almost murmuring to her. Such a small change but it sent Hiyori’s head reeling. She found it strange how the change in his voice could flip her stomach upside down. Unknowingly, she shifted and pushed slightly backwards until her back was against Yato’s chest. He wasn’t wearing his jersey tonight. Just a white t-shirt and a pair of knee length pants. Her slight shift didn’t go unnoticed by Yato but he said nothing.
“Why do you think that?” Her own voice came out soft, albeit not on purpose. She supposed the atmosphere resulted in the change.
“Well,” Now that he was closer, his voice spoke right into her ear. “Usually you’d be asleep faster than this. So, I thought something was bothering you.”
“Maybe.” An idea suddenly planted itself into her brain and Hiyori gulped. It was not something she usually ever did, not with Yato, so she was highly unsure about whether she wanted to carry it out.
“What is it?” Yato’s voice was laced very slightly with concern. Hiyori could hear the small waver in his voice. Perhaps it was because they were so close to each other. Or perhaps she had always listened to his voice well enough to decode it.
Maybe, she realized, as a small seed of hope grew in the pits of her stomach, if she kept at it, she would be able to decode him fully one day. And then, Yato would no longer have to carry the weight of all his lonely and sad memories alone. She could share them. Maybe Yukine would join in too, but if Hiyori wanted to be honest, she wanted it to be just her.
To heck with her uncertainty, she was going to do it.
She turned to her other side and met Yato’s mildly surprised face and got a small shock. They were much closer than she expected. If she had a ruler, she was sure the distance between his nose and hers was less than 3 inches.
“Are you okay?” Yato whispered. He seemed unaware of their proximity. Or maybe he was but tried to pretend he wasnt because Hiyori’s small problems were always more important than the small blush that was beginning to dust the apples of his cheeks.
“I’m okay.” Hiyori whispered back, her sensors going off the second she realized their breaths were mingling. But she was too busy to heed those sensors because she had gotten lost in his gaze and his face. He was slightly above her, his lips at par with her nose. She had to look up to meet his eyes. Hiyori still couldn’t understand how he could exude a sort of silent strength and yet she knew, she just knew that there was a lot that weakened him on the inside.
“You’re staring at me. Am I too attractive?” Yato goaded softly and chuckled. Raising a hand, his long fingers tucked a strand of hair behind Hiyori’s ear. His lips curved upwards into a soft smile and Hiyori’s eyes lowered to his lips and teeth. She wanted to touch them. She wanted a sigh of relief blow itself softly out of those lips as she cradled his head and lulled him to sleep.
And so, that was exactly what Hiyori did. She wound her arms around Yato’s neck and pulled him down, cradling his head below hers, winding her fingers into his hair and blowing into his ear.
“H-Hiyori?"Yato’s tone of surprise came out muffled and low. He tried to pull away but Hiyori’s grip was both gentle and yet strong. He gave up after a while and lay limp with his head in the crook of her neck. His breath was hot against her bare skin and she pulled the quilt over both of them. Yato sighed into her chest and slowly wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close.
After a long while of nothing but the sounds of breathing, Hiyori broke the silence.
"Yato, I…” She stopped, taking a deep breath of air. Yato said nothing but let her know he was listening by drawing patterns with his fingers on the small of her back. “I’m very insignificant. I can’t really do much for you. I have no power to. But I…” She began to feel so nervous about saying something like this and tugged on his hair absent-mindedly. “I really… no, you’re really important to me. I know you’re strong, but I also know you’re weak. And I know you like being alone at those times but I don’t. I don’t because-”
Hiyori paused as she felt Yato smile against her collarbone. It gave her courage to press on. Her other hand moved to stroke his shoulder blades. “I don’t because I want to share your weakness. I want your weakness to ebb away and be replaced by strength.” He pulled her closer to him and Hiyori’s breath hitched.
Yato pressed a kiss on her collarbone. Arms winding around her waist squeezed slightly, urging her to go on.
“Yato I can’t do much for you but I want you to rely on me as much as you want.” Hiyori’s heart rate was erratic and she realized Yato could very well listen to it. Her voice came out in a whisper against his hair. “And I promise you that I’ll be your home.”
She wanted to be his strength when he needed it. When he was weak and vulnerable, she wanted to hold him, rock him softly and soothe his racing heart. If he was a raging hurricane, she wanted to be the eye of the calm. If he was a still pond, she wanted to be the school of koi fish that created vibrant ripples in it. If Yato went into a soundless vacuum, she wanted to be the satellite echoing a signal.
“I have no power Yato but… I’ll be your home.” Words didn’t need to be said. Hiyori knew Yato could decode her heart. All her thousand and one questions that blinked like stars in the night sky, he would see. Her eyelids drooped and her senses detached themselves from her surroundings. In another two minutes, she had fallen asleep. Yato had not, however and he listened to the steady thrum of her heartbeat.
“You’re wrong really,” He nuzzled his face against her and held her tight, his legs totally tangled with hers.
“You have all the power in the world Hiyori. All the power over me.”
As the moon changed its positions that night, Yato and Hiyori fell through space, their fingers clasped; and it was indeed Yato’s first time dreaming of nothing but space, vacuum, stars and planets.

“Does it hurt?”
“Not really. It’s just a scratch, it’ll heal.”
Hiyori and Yato were walking home after a minor phantom showdown at a restaurant. Although it was Yato who had delivered the finishing blow to giant lizard, the credit went to Hiyori for jungle savating it to unconsciousness. It was late - 8:30pm; the breeze which was light and welcoming ruffled Hiyori’s short skirt and she patted it down. She glanced at Yato, who was carrying Yukine on his back since the blonde shinki had fallen asleep in the park they rested in after getting rid of the creature from the far shore.
“Should we share? Yukine-kun looks heavy.” Hiyori asked, noting how Yato’s dark hair blew softly over his eyes.
“Nah Hiyori, ’m okay.” He grinned at her, wincing soon after as the small scar on his cheeks stretched. “Can’t let a lady do all the work can I?” He added weakly and Hiyori rolled her eyes.
They walked in silence like that, the leaves swirling at their feet in the occasional gust of wind, on the quiet street lined with soft lamps and trees on both sides. Hiyori’s shoes padded quietly on the ground while Yato’s boots gave louder thuds. At some point or the other, Yato hoisted a mumbling Yukine higher on his back, grunting.
“This kid sure is heavy,” He grumbled even as Yukine quietly snorted into his master’s ear and showed no signs of waking up. “What with his appetite ‘n’ all…”
“You eat like that too, like you’ve never seen food before,” Hiyori laughed, reaching up to brush a few strands of Yato’s sleek hair out of his eyes. He smiled in quiet appreciation. “You’re not excusing yourself at all.”
“But he really eats way too much for a kid his age!” Yato sighed in a frustrated voice, his arms twisting to grip tighter at Yukine’s thighs. “Ugh, this brat keeps sliding down-”
“Hold him still, I’ll push him up.” Yato stopped and complied as Hiyori gripped Yukine’s waist and heaved him upwards. The muscles in her arms strained but after struggling a bit, Yato nodded in approval. “Okay now? He hasn’t woken up?”
“Yeah it’s okay,” Yato began to walk again and Hiyori fell into step beside him. The god glanced behind him and met with Yukine’s face, his cheek squished flat against Yato’s shoulder, mumbling incoherent words now and then. “Nope, he’s still out of it.”
“Poor Yukine-kun, he must be really tired. You two are working non-stop these days,” Hiyori sighed, faint lines of worry creasing her forehead. Yato noticed her concern and a small smile crossed his lips before he shook his head.
“He’s tired but he’s doing well.” His feet crunched on some dry leaves and Hiyori had to brush some more strands of Yato’s hair out of his eyes. His blue eyes shone brightly in some sort of hidden pride and Hiyori’s heart skipped a beat. “He’s getting stronger. He’s also cutting really well and not messing up like he used to, once or twice before.” Yato looked down at his feet as they walked, biting his lip.
“… Yato?”
“I know I’m not a really good master Hiyori,” The words finally left the blue-eyed god’s lips after many minutes of silence. “I mess up, I’m poor-” He broke off abruptly and swallowed. “I don’t really have many means to keep him happy. But I’m proud of him. Yukine that is.” Hiyori stopped walking and stared at her god. She never imagined he would tell her his thoughts like this. It was completely unexpected. Yato continued walking ahead with Yukine on his back, lost in thought.
“Eh? Hiyori?” He only came to his senses when Hiyori ran to catch up with him and skipped ahead, walking backwards right in front, facing him.
“Yato, look at me.” Her voice was gentle, soft and reassuring and Yato already felt part of his guilt and emotions of incapability ebb away. He looked up at her; her face was pleasant, her hair blowing softly around her shoulders and her hands behind her. Her eyes were filled to the brim with understanding and comfort. Genuine comfort. His pounding heartbeat eased and slowed down.
“Yato, I know you. You might be poor in terms of money but… I think you have the most expensive thing in the world.” Hiyori grinned at Yato’s puzzled face.
“And what might that be?” He imitated her light tone, amusedly.
“That,” She pointed a finger behind his back. “A shinki who’s sworn his soul to you. I think that’s the most expensive thing you could ever have, so Yato,” Hiyori’s grin broadened as blue eyes widened in amazement and realization.
“Aren’t you actually very rich?”
A strong gust of wind ruffled their clothes and hair and Hiyori nearly tripped on her own two feet before deciding that walking backwards might not have been a good long-term idea.
The heavy weight on Yato’s chest suddenly felt lighter and he gripped Yukine tighter - but gently, with care. He had never thought of it like this before. All this while, he had felt frustrated and undeserving of himself for having Yukine - who had grown tremendously after his initial phase of rebellion and his ablution. Yukine had become a shinki he could truly trust. Someone he could place his faith in. Someone who’d give his life for him. Yukine had become someone who he never had before.
But now, Hiyori had turned his frustration around so simply and spiraled it in such a beautiful way that he realized that instead of being angry at himself, he should appreciate and treasure what he had. Yukine was irreplaceable. It was true. How come he had never thought this way before?
Yukine was priceless.
Yato smiled to himself, dispelling all his bad emotions out of his body by blowing out air and sucking it back in.
“Thank you Hiyori.”
He was indeed, truly rich.
Simply amazing
This one was a popular demand. Many people people asked me about anatomy tips.
I know how hard this topic is and how confusing at the beginning. It’s just so much to learn! Exactly! I remember how lost I was in the beginning and trying out things that actually didn’t help me understand anatomy better.
Actually what I want to convey here is that you can learn to draw human without learning all the muscles and bones. My personal opinion, based on experience is actually that you can do that as something extra. Learning muscles and bones won’t help you draw. True story.
If you grasps few essential concepts first you will be better off, plus you will be actually drawing characters. You will be more confident in your lines and gain knowledge that will be enough to create artwork you want.
Look at body as any other object you want to draw. Simplifying and remembering the simplest ideas is way to go.
Remember: these few ideas I am presenting are just a tip of an iceberg. As you will progress you will expand your knowledge beyond few essential points.
This is my personal approach so I can’t say it will work for you. I know that it works for me
Hope you like it!
