Here we have a bind of the series "A Man Take His Sadness Down to the River (The Consolation of Philosophy" by @burberrycanary

Physical bind notes: I used Robert Kaufman Yarn dyed linen/cotton blend fabric - this fabric is cross-woven, it uses different colors on the warp and weft to get it the delicious texture. The cover decoration is done via matte black HTV cut with a cricut. I always fold my corners using library corners, which is bulkier, but I just like the look of it.

Typesetting Notes:

Main body font is Coelacanth; heading fonts are Du Belay.

The imagery is based off of maps created by Harold Fisk for the Mississippi River Commission from 1941-1944. Fisk used over sixteen thousand sediment core samples to reveal the presence of soil deposits over time to create maps showing a time-lapse history of the restless river’s travels over recent centuries. You might think that these images are some kind of metaphor for how things can seem immutable, be constantly changing, and yet stay intrinsically the same. You might feel emotional about how only careful observation, maybe even devotion, over many years, can reveal the truest nature of something. You might marvel at the beauty of seeing all layers of the river through history at the same time as what the river is today, at how all these rivers are the same river, and also different rivers. You might think about how holding space for all the present and former versions of a thing is perhaps one of the most sacred ways to know, to love, to care. so metropolitan museum of art has a register of books they’ve published that are out of print and that you can download for free! they’re mostly books on art, archeology, architecture, fashion and history and i just think that’s super useful and interesting so i wanted to share! you can find all of the books available here!

Critical PSA for anyone with Android devices!

I got the following email this morning:

Basically Google is rolling out the ability to track you via your android devices even when you're offline and you have to manually opt out of it. Many android devices no longer come with a wired headphone jack, so if you have Bluetooth headphones or a keyboard or anything, your location will be tracked and stored by your device unless you opt out of this.

I tried using the link they gave me in the email to opt out of it, but it didn't really seem to do anything. So I looked up how to opt out and found the following steps, which worked for my phone:

Opting out from the Find My Device network is as simple as tapping a toggle in your phone's settings. 1. On your Android device, go to Settings. 2. Tap the Google setting. 3. Tap the Find My Device setting. 4. Tap the toggle to off next to "Use Find My Device." 5. Confirm with pin, pattern, or biometrics. That's it. Your device is no longer participating in the Find My Device network. To rejoin, just flip the toggle back on.
