7. “Did you hear that too?”
31. “Probably should’ve done that a long time ago”
You swore up and down that it wasn’t your idea, truly. Atsumu was the one who insisted that the two of you watch a horror movie together. He thought he was being clever, that he was a master of romance and that you’d turn to him out of fear and ask him to protect you, keep you safe. Unfortunately Atsumu’s “fool-proof plan” was anything but as he was painfully reminded that he and horror movies definitely do not mix. There was a reason he hadn’t seen one in a while and that was because they terrified the daylights out of him.
At first, he managed to maintain his composure, waiting for you to lose yours. But aside from a few jumps and gasps here and there, you seemed to be fine while he was barely holding it together. He somehow managed to keep his shouts to a minimum but the way his whole body leaped out of his seat at every jump scare was just a little bit hard to miss. But the way you smiled at him in reassurance every time was enough for him to think maybe this was all worth it.
He was near tears by the time the movie finally ended and you had stopped paying attention a long time ago and instead were focused on Atsumu. It was just too funny to see someone like him, so charming and slick, get so worked up over a mediocre at best horror movie.
“I’m gonna use the bathroom” You announced to Atsumu who was still wide-eyed and trying to digest everything he had just witnessed.
“Huh? Oh ok” He quickly got up to turn the lights back on while you exited the living room.
It was only a couple minutes that you were gone and yet when you opened the bathroom door Atsumu was immediately engulfing you into a rib-crushing hug.
“Did you hear that too?” He pulled away enough so you could see the fear in his eyes.
“That noise! That’s why ya gasped right? Cause you heard it too”
“Tsumu I gasped because you tried to squeeze the life out of me”
“That’s because ya left me all alone” He had a childish pout on his face that was just too endearing to make fun of.
Wordlessly you took his hand and dragged him back to the living room where you laid down and directed his head to your chest. He happily snuggled into the junction of your neck, body relaxing in your hold.
“Don’t leave me alone again, mkay?” He mumbled into your skin.
You placed both hands on either side of his face and lifted his head up so he would look at you. You fleetingly kissed his pouty lips attempting to pull away before he dragged you in for a proper kiss. It wasn’t like any of Atsumu’s normal kisses, it was soft and almost vulnerable, slower than he normally likes, but the way he held your face close and leisurely moved his lips against yours was not something you were going to complain about anytime soon. When he was satisfied he gave you a dopey smile, still pressed close to you.
“Probably should’ve done that a long time ago. Now you don’t seem so scared anymore” You teased him.
“Yea ya should’ve. Instead, ya just watched me and left me alone here” He went back to his place against your neck.
“Don’t worry I’ll protect you Tsumu” You whispered, carding your hands through his hair.
“That’s supposed ta be my line” He whined, holding you tighter.
You laughed, “Maybe next time then”
