A quote that's been living in my head rent-free since the Undertale 10th anniversary stream is what Toby Fox said about the various Sans/Undertale AUs that have emerged over the years. To wit, he said that while he didn't know that much about all the fanon stuff or if it was even still a thing, "it's good when people are creative."

And that's been the new language I use in my head whenever I see people making stuff that's not for me, things I don't understand the appeal of. It's good when people are creative. It's such a simple statement and it's so universally affirming.
