But maybe it’s just because 99% of ships are straight and always badly written- the queer ships are also sometimes not rly good written, but Byler and the heartstopper couples are actually good.
I also relate to them so much as a queer person. The feeling of not 100% fitting in, espo the power outage fic was so so good and I felt so seen in it it’s crazy.

with byler the fact that i was a queer relationship that just happened to be part of a supernatural story without the entire plot being focused on it, but still a big enough part of it that we were on the edge of our seats everytime they had a scene together, i thought was just perfect…
the way it was being developped was so so beautiful, i swear it makes my head hurts. its so inspiring that pieces of art like the power outage fic exist and theyre breaking records for a reason, im so happy to be alive in a timeline where we have them, awful fumbled ending or not!

it feels so weird to have been a byler pre s4 because now its so obvious byler is endgame and theres so many bylers now. I remember when the byler edits were mainly about the rain scene and how different Mike was with Will and we were all mourning s1-2 Mike. And when people didnt believe us when we said Will was gay and in love with Mike.
If you told me back then a byler fic is top 3 on ao3 i would’ve gone insane
