You know what? I’m feeling infodumpy thanks to that post about Galeem and Dharkon and Tabuu, so buckle up bitches, it’s time for
Galeem, Dharkon, and Tabuu are all the same kind of “being”, an essay that no one asked for.
So, I’ll start with proving that Galeem and Dharkon are the same kind of being.
This is actually fairly easy to prove, to the point where it might not even be necessary to do so. But if you’ve looked at any of my blogs before you’ll know what kind of person I am.
First, there’s the obvious similarities. Galeem and Dharkon both inhabit their own realms which flow with their particular brand of energy, both take control of spirits, bosses, and one of the Hands (which they make duplicates of with similar kinds of energy: light or dark, depending on the hand in question), and they can both consume the multiverse with their energy if their main opposition is sufficiently weakened. Hell, they’re even structured similarly (both are composed of a “core” wrapped around limbs which they use to attack).
Additionally, they share functionally similar attacks–namely, their swift strike across the screen, their cross bombs, their wave attacks, and their strong hits they use to damage each other.
But there’s one attack that Galeem utilizes that further solidifies their connection, and segways into how Tabuu ties into all of this: Galeem’s Lens Flare.
Notice the eyes, which are never present on Galeem normally. Do they resemble anything to you? Maybe Dharkon’s central eye?
But that’s not the only thing that’s peculiar about this particular attack. If you played Subspace Emissary to the very end, you’ll probably recognize those as being awfully similar to Tabuu’s Off Waves. Galeem’s Lens Flare, much like Tabuu’s Off Waves, deal incredible damage and knockback with high chance of KOing (Tabuu’s Off Waves can even 1 hit KO at anything above Easy).
But if we look further into it, Tabuu actually shares many similarities to Galeem and Dharkon. He has:
Taken control of one of the Hands. He directly controls Master Hand with his chains, but he doesn’t clone Master Hand unlike Galeem and Dharkon.
His own dimension which flows with his type of power. He’s confined to the realm of Subspace, and operates from behind the scenes there.
He has tried to convert another realm (the Light Realm) into his own realm.
He even has a central core like Galeem and Dharkon that’s surrounded by a primary body.
Even beyond that, Tabuu is capable of making clones that look just like the ones Galeem and Dharkon can make.
